This run aims to complete all levels in the game, which includes the optional intermediate levels, and the now featured Multiball levels. These only appear after collecting all rings on the map, thus those need to be gotten too. This gives us a chance to see more than the any% route allows.

Toxic Caves

While the game may try to maintain a sense of symmetry, it somewhat fails. This means that glitches need to be done slightly differently on each side, in case you were confused by the inconsistent methods to get through the top. After a few detours, we can start the first of four ultra hard mysteries of where to find the bonus gates, for the now included multiball levels. Very quick to do, just flip a ball behind the crab for massive damage. Now although this may look fast, it's still the worst of the run sadly.

Lava Powerhouse

You'll notice that starting around 15550 that a trigger has a bad habit of lingering on screen. Not a clue why that happens, similar effects can occur on other levels too, but thankfully it fades once we enter Multiball 2. Speaking of which, despite all 4 multiballs being the same map, we can't just recycle the same strat. They'll be some randomness to the initial cluck positions, forcing unique strategies each time, which is always a good thing.

The Machine

New glitch here, any floor/wall corner can be squeezed into, providing a nice shortcut to the room below. Useless in any%, since this is only really used as a fast backtrack method, which we don't need normally. Now that Multiball-3 went smoothly, we can conclude that Multiball-2 wasn't just a stroke of good luck. It must be that Multiball-1 was just poorly done. The game however is very unfriendly to hex, so can't really go back to improve it now. Veterans will be pleased to see the return of the suicidal cluck on the boss tubes.

Showdown

Holding down the flipper button will activate all of them, even the ones offscreen, even the ones hidden through a release mechanism. Do this and they can be used early to nudge Sonic into the lever, pretty neat. Weird shuffling when collecting the final ring skips the Bonus Gate text for some reason, so nice timesaver there.

FractalFusion: Good response. Accepting for Moon+ publication alongside the existing any% publication.

Great job! I have lots of personal experience with this game and how badly it controls, so it's always great to see it get comprehensively destroyed. :) Big ol' Yes from me.

This should obsolete the old run. It's done better if you ask me.

Very nice job! The ring collection does get a little old (especially since the minigame is the exact same game each time), but the route planning is definitely impressive. I'm also glad to see a critter still flies into the Machine during the boss fight even when the tube is destroyed :-). Yes vote. I wouldn't want this to obsolete the current any% run, though. The any% run has the cool Toxic Caves skip, for one. Also, this 100% run really adds a significant amount of detouring to the run (unlike the situation with the SNES Aladdin game and the debate of any% vs 100%).
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. This was definitely easy to watch, I have to agree there is some repetitive parts, but it's very well optimized given the goal choice. Yes vote.

Nice run! I love the 100% idea, and it really took no extra time at all--the 'wasted' bonus time was actually entertaining! The four multiball stages weren't really too long or too frequent to become tiresome. Awesome work

Yeah, The 100% run is definitely more entertaining than I thought, in fact, I didn't know there was a bonus level for getting all the rings. Great run.

Thank you for decent encode, oneeighthundred. I like the idea of 100% achievement on this game, too.

That was a great watch ahaha. I was immersed the whole time and was even more pleasurable watching the video with a friend who shared the same difficulty playing this game when we were younger. Yes vote.

Well, I enjoyed watching this. With the 100% ring collection I was assuming at first that the video would have tons of obvious backtracking and stop-start gameplay, but I was pleasantly surprised that ring collection factored into the route while still looking so natural. Having played this game a lot before I can attest to how clunky Sonic's movement is, which makes the control shown here quite impressive, especially how you manage to turn around in some tubes so quickly, as if Sonic knows where he's going and how to get there immediately. Many of the bonus stages being won with only one or two flipper hits was added entertainment, too.
