Got4n: Doing this TAS was a total nightmare! Also, this is my first 3D Tas! But it was very funny!

NilsTFK: That's my first TAS, I actually didn't make any input because I still am not good enough to optimize them on 3D games. What I did was helping Got4n with a few tricks, spots, routes and giving him advices when he needed some (and when I could give him some). Most of the spots for the superjumps were found by either Pewable or me some time ago for a single segment project and recently for this TAS. I think Got4n has done a really good job and has put a lot more efforts into it. That guy is just insane and incredibely patient !

Tricks:

Super Jumping
one of the only glitch in this game. Founded by pewable , there is one extreme as hell. There is some easy which have 1/2 and requires 10s to do it on console and TAS Medium which have 1/20 and requires 2 min on Console and 10 min on TAS Hard which have 1/100 and requires 20 min~on console, and about 1-2 hours on TAS Impossible which have 1/500 and requires 2-3hours on console, and about 15hours on TAS. Tutorial:

This does not work on every platform, this rarely works!

  • Underwater swimming
Only working in Land of Livid Dead. Found by pewable. When pressing camera and there water just under ledge, well pressing camera while falling and you'll fall in underwater swimming

Stage by stage comments.

1. Fairy Council
Nothing to say about an "hard" super jump.
2.Clearleaf forest
Easy superjump, cut the maps, sometimes I make mistakes in the boss because If I go directly he break the missile power :/
3. Bog of Murk.
Even if there is water, Underwater is not possible for reasons. w_w. Manipulated Razor to get on first piece. That's why first time is a bit weird.
4. Land of Livid Dead
Underwater swimming to skip level 1 and 3 and boss
5.Desert of Knarren
Nothing to say except Reflux was a nightmare to TAS
6. The Longest Shortcut.
Nothing to say except shoes battle was very cool xD.
7. The Summit Beyond Clouds
In the Boat part , I'll just make a glitch at end just for entairtaining. I fell at exact frame for no time losing :P !
8. Hoodlum Headquarters
Mmh.. Boss was a nightmare to TAS, due to really diferrent perfect timing
9. Leptys Tower
It is possible to skip whole first level, using shortcut in the level 2. And beating Reflux

Notes:

Ladders hitbox sometimes are really bad.

Special Thanks:

Dolphin to crash many times :)
Pewable to all his glitches Ultimategamer95 for his speedrun.
Rerecord count is very low because dolphin crashed many times.
Oh! forgot to say that using TAS Input plugin was a nightmare because everytime I run it after 3-4 load of savestates, dolphin crash. Enjoy!

Suggested sreenshot:

[dead link removed] Around frame 151100

Nahoc: Judging...
Nahoc: Rejecting due to poor optimization and bad audience response overall. Game choice doesn't seem to be the problem here, but rather the running angles and overall look of the TAS. A more optimized version of this speedrun would certainly be accepted. Good luck with your future TASes, got4n!

I can whip up an encode of this. Is there an AV sync build for this Dolphin revision I can use? And if not, could I ask someone to compile one?

Thank you very much, RachelB. I'll start on it now. Does it matter anymore if Dual Core and Idle Skipping are enabled or not? I don't remember if that issue was fixed or I should just err on the side of caution and disable them both.

Even if it syncs (it might, but i wouldn't count on it), dual core breaks video dumping.

Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

Whoa. This was unexpected. I'd like to see a high-score TAS for this game, perhaps later when Dolphin is more stable. I always pulled my hair out trying to five-star all the levels.

Good idea for high score TAS, we could help us from Matuvu combo.

I apologize for the delay. I followed the encoding guide and then left the movie running and encoding while I slept. Apparently, 4x Native encodes very slowly on my computer; it's been encoding the video for 7 hours and is still only 1/3 of the way through. Now that I'm up, I'm going to set it back to 1x Native and try again so now it should get done today. So please be patient as I reencode it yet again.

Don't forget to use lossy compression.

Lossy compression is faster? And it doesn't matter for this encode if I use it over lossless (I've been using Lagarith)?

I was about to encode it but my PC is very slow too. Since its a temp encode do'nt care about native things :P

Dump lossy (faster, I recommend x264vfw), reencode lossy if needed.

Thanks for the link, feos. I installed the codec, but Dolphin doesn't seem to recognize it (it's not in the list of codecs it gives me to dump from). If it really can't recognize it, I can just use Microsoft Video 1 to encode it.

I am. It's okay though, at least I have other codecs I can dump from that work with a 64-bit machine. It looks like it's still going to take 6-7 hours to dump the video frames (audio is already dumped), as it runs almost twice as slow when dumping video for me. So I'm sorry about the wait, but I can't make it dump any faster. :/
