About this run

I mind that the game is sharp and dramatic because I am inspired by TASers of CVHoD! You can use Maxim after you once clear Juste Belmont's mode.

Uses SRAM

Manipulates Luck

I use sliding and jump to control Luck (for example critical hits)

Uses Lua

Postscript

I changed Branch name because the votes member said that "all bosses" was more suitable for this run.
Thank you for correcting my mistake!

So this has no competition for this So I assume this is actually an "Maxim, all bosses" tas. Edit: Creating Temp encode. Link to video

Yes, it appears to be an all bosses run as opposed to the in-bounds run.

Wait a second, guys. If you go to Dracula's area with Maxim and you don't use warps, then you do have to defeat all bosses anyway. The "Maxim in-bounds" run IS all-bosses. However, the in-bounds run only uses a light version of wall-sinking glitches, so it doesn't allow warping to far away places and fighting Dracula area. It sounds like this run DOES allow far-away warping, but it refuses to visit Dracula out of principle until all relics are counted. Long story short, I'm not really sure exactly how these runs should be compared.

I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! I never see any hype for the maxim in-bounds TAS, so if this one is better, it should replace it.

As discussed above, I suppose "any%" is not suitable for this run. The main purpose of this run is actually defeating all bosses using warp glitches ONLY as a means of movement from one boss to another (the author mentioned so in nicovideo, in japanese:-/), so I prefer "all-bosses" instead.

Alright, I've now seen this run. Thanks for the temp encode, Spikestuff. I actually liked this a lot. My favorite kill was beating Devil before he moved at all, so he was still over the left-side platform of the room. It seems the battles are better optimized than in the Maxim in-bounds run. I'm surprised that some of the fights don't use shurikens (like Max Slimer, for instance). This brings up the question: should this obsolete the Maxim in-bounds run? With Juste, I'm quite ok with them being separate categories because a run with Juste has to build up the character to have more options for movement. For instance, Juste gets a feather to allow double-jumping. On the other hand, Maxim is already powered up at the start, so the extra time spent going through hallways in the in-bounds run isn't that interesting. This run still had good opportunities to show Maxim dashing through the castle. I was a fan of him jumping through the outside of the Sky Walkway at about 1:30 into the run. Another fun instance was the doubling back at 2:00 to hit an enemy and use it for a fast zip :-) There's also the bit that happens on the way to the final fight. I vote Yes, and I recommend that this obsolete the in-bounds run. P.S. I have one question. Why do you use the shuriken in the final fight instead of just the Mirage Attack?

This does look like a consensus. And it is how Moons should work for publishing branches: if some submission shows unique content over all existing branches, and is liked, it's published as a new branch. If a submission has goals and/or execution quite similar to some existing branch, and IS BETTER, one obsoletes another. And posts point out the obsoletion matter clearly, so I feel no disagreement with this movie obsoleting the in-bounds run. Also, how about reducing the label "Maxim version/mode" to just "Maxim"?
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

Reducing to "Maxim" wouldn't really be enough. I'm pretty sure we'll always want the 22 second run to be its own category, but this submission has enough support to be separate from the 22 second run. I recommend two Maxim categories: "Maxim any%" for the 22 second run, and "Maxim all-bosses" for this run. I don't think anything beyond this is really necessary. For instance, a run using Maxim to collect all the furniture wouldn't be more interesting than the Juste run that does this, for the reasons I stated about why a Juste in-bounds run is still useful.

If you're curious, there's a joke TAS where Maxim collects all furnitures on nicovideo. Link to video
