game name:Double Dragon Advance
  • game objective:
    • play in expert difficuty (Use cheat code in option menu)
    • heavy luck manipulation
    • beat the game as fast as possible
    • uses suicide to save time
    • take damage to save time
I used a cheat code to play in expert difficulty, in expert mode you start with 0 lives, 5 credits, player loose more health points, enemies have more HP and IA is enhanced.
Hello there... I'm back to give you the best way to kick some asses with kung-fu techniques. So get ready!
  • -Lesson one: Some enemies have a died's animation, but you can skip this with a last hit when you put him down
  • -Lesson two: Use explosive or axe is better than to kung-fu fighting... Ok, I know it's not a conventional rule but it's like that and they didn't have to bring them to me, shame on these assh... Sorry!
  • -Lesson three: Death sales, so be a good businessman and make a bundle offer! In effect, kill all enemies in same time is the best way to save time
  • -Lesson four: Examine the invisible. All enemies have a different hitbox and some of those, like samuraïs, can be kill with "infinite juggle head".
  • -Lesson five: Be fair play! If there is a ditch, use this at your advantage.
  • -Lesson six:
   If enemies == "idiots" then
    let_them_kill_each_other(pXpos,pYpos,pVx,pVy,pDist,pTestH,pSave1,pSave2,pSave3)
   end
Yeah, you can manipulate enemies comportement with empirical tests, if you are sick, or let Mr Lua do it for you, it can help you... or not!
  • -Lesson seven : Tired of struggling, lack of vitamin, or just tired by these numerous tries to obtain enemy's favors we are here for you and will give you the best tip as possible to help you. Commit suicide! Don't laughing please, it's not a joke, arrrg, it's not possible to talk with you! More seriously, at some moments the fastest solution to save time is to commit suicide. Don't do it at home, this is very stupid and dangerous for your life... Do it outdoor! f*****g stupid joke.
  • -Lesson height: Like says Zack "know your enemy"... Or more specifically, know the number of enemy! During some boss fighting, if the number of enemies is greater than the number of enemies displaying at screen, then you are obliged to kill for decreases this number and obtain a number equal to this number of display, else you are obliged to continue the fighting after killing boss.
  • -Lesson nine: Use the secret moves to save time... Like moon-run ( stronger than MJ) and all specific moves who can unlock some situations during fighting.
  • -Lesson ten: kill RNG! RNG of this game is very interesting, I created a big list of patterns used by enemies and create some tools to assist me at some specific moments. Enemies have a trigger linked at five counters to take decision, when the counter reach the trigger it can test x and y player's position, if it have a parents more close of the player, x and y weapon's position, player's button pressed... It possible to manipulate all comportements, with a lot of patience.
Two windows are suboptimal compared to an other run I did. So, 17 frames are lost due to RNG locked in some enemy's pattern.

Samsara: Gimme the Bimmy. Judging! Resetting to new.
ThunderAxe31: Here comes a new challenger! Judging.
ThunderAxe31: I've been waiting for a long time to see a TAS of this game being submitted. zoboner worked a lot on this, and the result really shows! There were used strategies and tricks everywhere, which together with the right RNG manipulation resulted in beating the game impressively fast.
I also appreciated the fact that the hardest difficulty was chosen, which adds a lot of more challenge for achieving optimization, and makes the movie more impressive even for casual watchers. I have to note that using an in-game code/password is normally not allowed, unless it's used to unlock a harder game difficulty, which is the case here.
The audience reception was good, so I'm accepting this for Moons.

This is my favorite Double Dragon game and a very entertaining TAS. Fantastic enemy grouping, luck manipulation, and use of environment hazards. My only question is was there a reason why you didn't use the 1P Double Dragon mode where you control two characters?

Yeah, I'm wondering how a 2P TAS would look like with all those air combos. Yes vote
TASing is like making a film: only the best takes are shown in the final movie.

No, multiplayer is not supported, the only way is to use "VBA link" and it's not good because it's not accurate and if I remember well, I can't use Lua script! I think multiplayer had to be abandoned for GBA, but maybe i'm wrong!

Reason is simple, it's not a same run because in this mode you are obliged to switch between P1 and P2 and it's not beautiful to watch. To be honest I work on it, but I will have prefer to use GBA's link tool but like I answer at "deuxhero" it's not possible at this time!
