Description

The Super Nintendo version of Aladdin was developed and published by Capcom. Unlike the Sega Mega Drive version of the game, the player does not equip a scimitar. The storyline more or less closely follows the plot of its namesake, the Disney full-length animated motion picture, with Aladdin going from a street rat to a prince, who first woos, and then has to rescue, the Princess Jasmine. Most levels and stages of the game will be readily recognized by people who have seen the motion picture, but there are a few levels that have nothing to do with the movie - including an Egyptian pyramid and a surreal world where Genie - dressed in a tuxedo - serves as Aladdin's guide. The game features renditions of the soundtrack from the Disney motion picture, as well as several mini-games dependent on the player catching a golden scarab or collecting all diamonds within a stage. An extra challenge involved finding 50 red diamonds throughout the game. While they weren't necessary for ending the game, the credits screen changes slightly according to how many diamonds were collected.

Jason l.b aka longname: I just have two compression programs for png - advpng and pngout. I run them both, they seem to do slightly different types of compression. Check this page for details: http://tasvideos.org/HowToMakePNG.html

Question: How about making a run for the Genesis version next? I personally hated the SNES Aladdin... But anyway, the playthrough was solid, it was interesting to see Aladdin standing in lava for a short moment... though the screenshot kinda spoilt it :( Yes vote anyway

Thanks for the votes and it's an idea to make a sega version of the run but i am a little tired of the Aladdin song, and even if its not the same in the sega version, i'm tired of seeing is face. =P So i will choose something different next time.

A very good run of a good game. I had this game when I was a kid, and I really liked it back then. Easy yes vote on this, I liked how you floated around with your knee up in the air. :)

The run had a lot of nice parachuting and optimized movement, but I have to vote no. The speed run on SDA kills Jaffar faster than you. http://speeddemosarchive.com/DisneysAladdinSNES.html If you're too lazy to watch the run, you wait until jaffar summons the 4 winged pots. Then you bounce off of one and jump on Jaffar's head (make sure Jaffar is as high as possible). You can now repeatedly jump on Jaffar's head as long as if you're using the parachute. Also, quoted from the SDA runner's comments: "As of the date that this run was completed, the battle against Jaffar is faster than that of the TAS at Bisqwit's site. The Jaffar trick that I use to stay above him can be difficult to pull off, but it can be done without getting hit every turn."

Thanks for the tip . I didnt know that trick but even thought, the complete game is still faster . If i would have learned that trick before, it would have been even faster! You have your reasons, i respect that. But the thing is that it is already faster and thats was my goal. By the way was your run tool assisted? Because it did not seem so!

A. I did not do the run. It was done by Philippe 'Suzaku' Henry. B. None of the runs on SDA are tool-assisted. I'm quite aware your run is faster than the published TAS, but using this trick would easily knock off 10 or so seconds.

Jaysmad, just redo the last two battles and PM Bisqwit to replace the submission file (having uploaded it to microstorage first). Having a boss fight slower than in an unassisted run is pretty much unacceptable.

You are right moozooh but is it a good idea? Cancelling a run to redo the end? If you tell me i should i will! :p

I know moozooh will agree with me when I say that you should absolutely, without a doubt, redo the end, especially since this saves several seconds. Redo the last boss fight, and ask Biswit to update this submission. Good luck!
