So... I was bored so I decided to do a TAS of this game: Download Input file: PaRappa the Rapper.pxm Encoded video: parappatherapper-tas-mz.avi (88 MB) *Emulator used: PCSX-RR v0.0.2 with P.E.Op.S. SPU plugin and its highest settings. *Aims for fastest time *Aims for exact repetition of the sequence of buttons *Does not aim for highest score *Sings 6 songs I thought I could make this movie in 30 minutes, but I ended up using the whole night, as I had too many desyncs. The movie could have been a lot better if I wouldn't have had a huge desync every 100 frames or so... I had to hex-edit it for the most part. Anyway, I still kind of like how it is now, even though sometimes the timing is awful and there are some missing words here and there, but it was the best I could do. Also, I think now I know why these desyncs happen in PCSX, so I'll try to get them fixed for the next release of it.
You're just fucking stupid, everyone hates you, sorry to tell you the truth. no one likes you, you're someone pretentious and TASes only to be on speed game, but don't have any hope, you won't get there.

And great justice. I can't say I ever thought I'd see a TAS of this game. :o
Kirby said so, so it must be true. ( >'.')>

a TAS of um jammer lammy sounds more reasonable, you can do more stuff with the guitar.

Yeah, if you find an emulator that can run it, it's even better.

Think you could do this run and get a Cool level each time? Would be nice too. Cheers for this one though.

You can't get cool your first time through the song.

I cant say I'm really sure of the point of TASing a rhythm game. decently fun to watch, but just seems strange when all that is done is precise timing.

An admirable goal for a TAS, if you ask me. However, I would like it if some of the 'extra' stuff was done, as the rules for being successful on a line in this game are pretty, uh... lax.

Not only that but the current WIP doesn't even get max score and frequently flubs rhythms. EDIT: I did read the explanation, but still, if it's a TAS of a rhythm game and humans can do it better then it's not terribly impressive.

Link to video No idea if this is optimal or not. (Surprised that he didn't go into Cool for example.) I'm not even sure where I should go to find out information about high scoring in PaRappa/Um Jammer Lammy, tbh. Some time I plan on playing through Um Jammer Lammy myself to see what I can figure out, since it seems like a really cool take on the rhythm game genre. EDIT: Spikestuff pointed out that there are some other PaRappa TASes on nicovideo, I'll just put 'em all here. Link to video Link to video Link to video Link to video Link to video Link to video
