This is an improvement to the previous version - 68 seconds faster, mainly due to the usage of special attacks to defeat bosses, and more efficient play in the waterfall section.
This game has a quite functional soundtrack.
The timeattack might be a little long, but it's more polished than the previous version and quite relaxing to watch and listen to.
Note: The MP4 file has sections in which the status bar wiggles. This is due to emulation errors in Famtasia.

Jackie Chan is not a particularly impressive game, except for its music, which is relaxing to listen to.
Jackie Chan has been played a few times on this site. Three times by Arc, once by Dan and now once by Baxter. Every submission was faster than the preceding one, and this movie is not an exception.
This movie is 27.5 seconds faster than the previous version by Dan, and also takes 100% less hits than the previous version. In other words, no damage was taken.
We recommend reading the author's notes of this movie.

This is a historic movie, submitted and obsoleted before the creation of the database-based (and wiki-based) site engine, before July 2004.
It was inserted to the database in a history revival project by Bisqwit in autumn 2006.
As for the movie itself... it was Arc's second TAS of this game, and the first version that was published. In subsequent versions, more and more special attacks which do double damage were used to defeat the bosses, but in this first published version, only regular attacks were used. Also peculiar to this run is that damage was taken at places where it could have been avoided without losing time, while damage was avoided where taking damage would have saved time.

Jackie Chan and his twin sister Josephine were great kung fu fighters in China and trained under a great master. One day when Jackie and Josephine were out walking, the Master's great enemy, The Sorcerer, appeared. The Sorcerer had come to rule over China and knew the twins would stand in his way, so he cast a spell to make Josephine disappear. Now it's up to Jackie Chan to follow after the Sorcerer and battle his minions in order to rescue his sister and save China.
Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu is a side-scrolling fighting game. Jackie's controls are one button to jump and another one to attack or be used in combination with a direction for a special attack. On his quest, Jackie must punch and kick his way past frogs, ninjas, birds and other enemies. Jackie can acquire special-moves such as the Tornado attack, the 180 degree spin kick, the 360 degree spin kick and the Sky Attack. Other power-ups include energy refills and bonus points.
