Battle of Olympus (オリュンポスの戦い) improved by 2:06 again.
The author calls this version "final", but because of the somewhat boring looking olive collecting scene near the beginning of the movie, I doubt this will be the final version.

Battle of Olympus (オリュンポスの戦い) improved by 3:33, after more than 8 months had passed since Jackic's last version.
This improvement consists of many minor optimizations. The biggest improvement (timewise) is because of the new way that the hero (Orpheus) collects the 60 olives, which are required in order to buy the ocarina.
People often compare this game with Zelda 2 because of its similar gameplay.
While playing, Arc discovered that it is possible to break the normal collection sequence for the 3 fragments of love. Unfortunately, this sequence breaking does not result in a faster TAS, and so it does not appear in the movie. For a detailed explanation of the sequence break and its problems, see this forum thread.

The Battle of Olympus (オリュンポスの戦い) is set in ancient Greece. A mortal man named Orpheus receives help from the gods and nymphs in his quest to save his lover Helene from Hades. People often compare this game with Zelda 2 because of its similar gameplay.
This movie is 9:11 faster than Arc's version, mostly because of the utilization of a gameplay-altering glitch: pressing Left+Right simultaneously in order to make Orpheus move with almost unlimited velocity growth. The trick is documented at GameResources/NES/BattleOfOlympus.
The route used in this movie is decided by a few things the hero (Orpheus) must do:
  • Collect three fragments of love in order to activate the Tartarus entry.
  • Get a key to access the second fragment's location.
  • Get the Eyeball of Graeae to see invisible doors (to access the first fragment's location).
  • Get a sword in Peloponnesus. It is needed to kill the three-headed guardian with respawning heads (Cerberus) in Tartarus.
  • Collect 60 olives in order to buy the ocarina, which will be needed to cross the sea to get to Crete and Tartarus.
  • Get a harp in order to call Pegasus. It makes the route faster.

This is a historic movie, submitted and obsoleted before the creation of the database-based (and wiki-based) site engine, before July 2004.
It was inserted to the database in a history revival project by Bisqwit in autumn 2006.

Hi!!, just tried a new route for this game, skipping some bosses and even more items needed to finish the game I got a time of 25’32”, that's 2’10” less than my previous attempt, leaving little room for future improvement XD
Note: You can't do the trick I use in the video in the Japanese version.

Greetings, there you go, the Japanese version of Battle of Olympus (I haven't located a USA rom that works in Famtasia), the game is just like Zelda II but without an overworld, the movie skips anything not needed to finish the game, actually I skipped an item that would be unavoidable playing the real thing cause without using it the last boss is invisible saving loads of time. Hope you enjoy this one, it was a hell of a difficult movie to do.

In retrospect, I think this is the only Battle of Olympus submission that fights Lamia (the snake-tailed archer woman).

This is an improvement of 39.35 seconds over the previous movie, mainly thanks to a better olive farming route and thanks to the staircase glitch, skipping several rooms in Tartarus.
This movie was a part of a two-hour Zelda II TAS showcase with audio commentary by Arc, Inzult, Jackimus, Mithical9, and Feasel.

This is an improvement of 6.06 seconds over the previous movie, mainly thanks to the jump-turn technique and better olive farming. Please read the authors' comments for more details.
