Mega Man X2 makes a particularly interesting run as many of the weapons can actually be used in mobility, such as a grappling hook or even a weapon which can make enemies into platforms. The author takes special care to ensure that when there is a situation in which a weapon would help him progress quicker, he uses it.
In order to get the Shouryuken (flame uppercut) seen used towards the end of the movie, the author must first collect 100% of items, such as Heart Tanks, Sub Tanks, and Item Capsules. However, because these powerups are not far out of the way, and because the Shouryuken saves so much time later on, it turns out that this movie may also prove to be as fast as possible.

Many thanks to Boco for early route planning and glitch information!

Mega Man X2 makes a particularly interesting run as many of the weapons can actually be used in mobility, such as a grappling hook, a fast mid-air dash or even a weapon that can make enemies into platforms. The author (FractalFusion) takes special care to ensure that when there is a situation in which a weapon would help him progress quicker, he uses it.
FractalFusion's run is 1:54 faster than blechy's run by using better boss strategies and various route changes, most notably getting the Strike Chain as soon as possible. The importance of a grappling hook cannot be stressed enough.
In order to get the Shouryuken (flame uppercut) which is used towards the end of the movie, the author must first collect 100% of items, such as Heart Tanks, Sub Tanks, and Item Capsules, but not Zero Parts. However, because these powerups are not far out of the way, and because the Shouryuken saves so much time later on, it turns out that this movie may also prove to be as fast as possible.

Rockman X2 makes a particularly interesting run as many of the weapons can actually be used in mobility, such as a grappling hook, a fast mid-air dash or even a weapon that can make enemies into platforms. The author (parrot14gree) takes special care to ensure that when there is a situation in which a weapon would help him progress quicker, he uses it.
This run improves the previous version by about 15 seconds of game-time. Other time savings are the result of using the Japanese version of Mega Man X2 (Rockman X2).
In order to get the shōryūken (flame uppercut) which is used towards the end of the movie, the author must first collect 100% of items, such as Heart Tanks, Sub Tanks, and Item Capsules, but not Zero Parts. However, because these powerups are not far out of the way, and because the shōryūken saves so much time later on, this movie may also prove to be as fast as possible.

Mega Man X2 makes a particularly interesting run as there are many weapons that can be used to increase mobility. These include a grappling hook, a fast mid-air dash and a weapon that can transform enemies into platforms. The authors take special care to ensure that when there is a situation in which a weapon could help them progress quicker, they make use of it.
This run improves the previous version by about 23 seconds of game-time. The previous run used the Japanese ROM, and the shorter cutscenes in that version make the improvement less apparent.
This movie aims for the fastest time possible. However, because the shōryūken (flame uppercut) used towards the end of the movie saves so much time, and because to get it the authors must first collect 100% of items such as Heart Tanks, Sub Tanks, and Item Capsules, this movie could be seen as a 100% run. Zero Parts are not required for the shōryūken, and thus they are not collected.
If you would like to watch this game played collecting Zero's parts, but not collecting any of X's, see this run.

Mega Man X2 makes a particularly interesting run as there are many weapons that can be used to increase mobility. However, many of these weapon abilities require the use of the X-Buster upgrade, which is skipped in this movie. In fact, in this movie, FractalFusion does not collect any of X's upgrades! However, he does rescue Zero by fighting three optional X-Hunter battles. This is arguably the hardest set of goals to accomplish in a run of Mega Man X2.
This route was designed to have the exact opposite goals of this run, which collects all upgrades but skips saving Zero. With this run, however, the bosses near the end are no longer defeated in a single hit, showing off more of their AI. Also, due to the items collected, there is an easter egg in the ending credits.

Hetfield90 improves the previous run by nearly 9 seconds with some new tricks and changes to boss fights. See the submission comments for more details.
This run goes for the fastest completion time, only collecting the X-Buster upgrade. TASVideos also has the "100%" run which collects all the parts of both X and Zero.

In this movie, hidaigai obtains all of X's upgrades, including the Shoryuken. This makes the ending bosses die almost immediately. This movie is about a 20-second improvement to the previous run in this category by FractalFusion and Graveworm. See the submission comments for more information, along with video links at NicoVideo which provide interesting comparisons between this run and the previous one.
This route used to be the fastest way to complete X2, though it has since been beaten by runs that only collect the X-Buster upgrade. (However, many realtime runners are still more likely to use the all-upgrade route.) For even more X2 action, there's another run which doesn't obtain any upgrades and also fights the optional X-Hunters.

This TAS obsoletes the "low%, best ending" as well as the "all upgrades" runs, since it collects all the parts of both X and Zero. It became possible to separate the "full completion" branch from the "any%" one after it was found to be faster to forgo acquiring the Shoryuken in the latter.
