This movie speedily plays through "The Cheetahmen", game #52 of a compilation of horrid games called Action 52. While the game is pretty horrible in general, it has a rather catchy BGM.

As such, this is Baxter's 10th attempt at this game, this time 10.16 seconds faster than the previous with the help of Zugzwang. Eleven rooms have been improved.

This movie is actually a result of competition/co-operation between Baxter, Randil and Hanzou.

This run aims to beat every room as fast as possible, often by strategies the game developers had not intended, including glitch abuse. In addition to Hanzou, strategies were developed by many players, such as Bag of Magic Food, CtrlAltDestroy, Deign, Nitrodon, and Randil.

This update beats the previous submission by 39.13 seconds.

The great devil turned all of the inhabitants of Lala's kingdom to stone. Lolo and Lala go through 100 rooms to defeat him, or something like that. This run is 14 minutes and 50 seconds faster than windeu's rejected submission, and [ 1:49.38 seconds] faster than my test run.

The player controls Ripley through a number of platform levels. She must not only defend herself against hordes of aliens and find the exit, but also save a number of prisoners, all within a tight time limit of only minutes per level.

This hardly stops MESHUGGAH, though, who barely avoids death in a number of puzzles and finishes in record time.

This is an improvement of nearly 26 seconds over the previous run by Tailz due to increased use of the Megagon form, lag reduction, improved boss fights, and a time-saving death in level 5-1.

This incredible TAS of Arkanoid, made by Baxter, inspires awe in a manner comparable to the Gradius movie. No ball is ever lost, even though three balls are juggled in every level where possible.

In this game, you move Armadillo around an area map composed of squares. Some of them are empty, while others represent locations. Once you enter a location, you find yourself on a platform level, that often contains several sub-levels. There are sometimes branching ways on the area map, and you are not obliged to access all the locations to clear an area. On the platform levels, Armadillo can either walk and jump in his normal form (dies from single enemy hit), or turn into a ball, which is invulnerable to enemies' attacks, but is hard to control: the ball follows realistic physics, bounces of walls, and takes time to stop rolling. During the game, Armadillo will also be able to find upgrades that will allow him to take an animal's form for a short time.

This game is based on one of the most successful French comic book series of the same name. It has been successful since 1959, with more than 325 million comics sold worldwide.

It is a somewhat clumsy game. For one, Astyanax is twice as big as he appears, and so he is easily hit unless one plays carefully. The controls are also very bad. The sum of these factors is that it's a difficult game to play, but that's part of what makes this movie interesting—especially for those who have played this game.

Thanks to effective lag management and using all powers, the author has achieved 32.66 seconds worth of improvement over the previous movie by dragonxyk.

This is an improvement of a couple centiseconds over the previous run, by optimizing the pause trick introduced in the latter.

It's a simple platform game where most of the enemies can be defeated by jumping on them. There are also several bosses Chad must face, including the Doomsday Tomato itself.

In this run, TASeditor uses optimized movement and a trick to maintain maximum speed to beat this short game in a little over 6 minutes.

This game is surprisingly hard. Playing the game without dying (which results in a game over since you only have one life), let alone not losing any health, is extremely challenging. At times the screen is nearly filled with enemies and requires frame specific movement to avoid taking damage.

One day in the Banana nation, the Banana Prince is conversing with the Dragonmaster when the evil Paprika Dragon flies in and steals the big banana, the symbol of the nation's wealth. While the Dragonmaster is at a loss as to what to do, the Prince decides to bring back the nation's most beloved possession to the people.

The author, khv-user, runs, jumps, and climbs his way to the Paprika Dragon and brings back the banana in only nine and a half minutes.

Here Aglar has managed to improved the previous movie by 2.5 seconds.

The gameplay has undergone some changes compared to its predecessor. A welcome addition to it is a slide movement, similar to the one in the Mega Man series. A not-so-welcome addition is that half the stages are autoscrolling, and there are no close combat weapons now.

In this run, N?K rolls through the game speedily while losing a little bit of time to entertain with amusing shooting patterns and making the scenery into recognizable letters and shapes.

Since the main character drives a wheeled vehicle, this game shows to be the rare kind of a variable scrolling speed shooter, where you can slow the car down if you can't keep up with the action (which obviously never happens in a TAS). The core gameplay holds true to its spiritual predecessor, but this time it's spiced up with stage bosses and various sorts of powerups.

This movie is a 1 minute 14 second improvement over the previous one thanks to increased precision, lag reduction, and better boss fighting.

Mainly inspired by the PC game I Wanna Be the Guy, this game is classic platforming action, where anything can kill the player in one single hit. While it's not unfair (as opposed to I Wanna Be the Guy), it's still really hard.

Aglar collects every item and key before going to the last area, and takes the right path to get to the best ending, all of this on the hardest difficulty possible and without taking any damage!

As always, a bug on level 11 prevents player 2 from moving, so he gets a game over for that level. Player 1 plays level 11 alone and player 2 comes back for level 12. This is a bug in Battletoads itself.

In this game, the second most diabolical evil genius in the universe, The Dark Queen, has kidnapped Princess Angelica and Pimple - a battletoad. Rash and Zitz must save them by traveling through the most insane multilevel set of plans ever designed. This includes falling down huge shafts, racing through obstacle courses at breakneck speeds, riding on snakes through a massive maze of spikes, passing through a killer ventilation system, navigating through a missile defense system, climbing a never ending revolving tower, and much much more. Along the way, the Battletoads must also face off against an evil army of robots, genetically engineered rodents, and The Dark Queen herself.

In order to make the game a bit easier, its creators embedded some secret warp zones to skip a few early levels in their entirety. But that simply wasn't good enough for MESHUGGAH; he decided to travel directly to level 3, where he invents his own warp and skips right to the grand finale. He took a glitch found in this TAS and exploited it further, to the point the Dark Queen just gives up and returns Angelica and Pimple, going off to hatch an even more evil plan for next time. The glitch is done by breaking the game execution and sticking it right to the game ending.

This run conquers the predecessor movie by 0.18 seconds by exploiting the fact that green toad is processed before the yellow one.

This movie requires FCEU 0.98.12.

Maybe you thought Battletoads was a game full of amphibians, but it is actually full of bugs. Those beta testers really should have spent a little more time on this game...

Author nEilfox's second contribution to Bionic Commando features inhumanly fast grappling and swinging. This run is an improvement of 3.32 seconds over the previous run due to better optimization and a new trick in area 7.

In this movie the hero gets bored with the tank early on, skips the bosses and mostly decides to just go straight to the final boss and blow him up. The frog is saved and dissected, and Biology 101 is passed. Hooray!

This movie plays on the European version of the game, which includes a few bugs such as stopping movement by pausing and allowing double (and more) jumping. A changed zip mechanism is also in the European version which allows warping through things you really shouldn't be able to warp through.

This publication beats the previous movie by 9 seconds.

Normally, standing under any falling object or just getting close to an enemy means instant death, but in this movie the player fearlessly dives through heaps of falling objects and walks past enemies without a scratch.

It's quite pleasureable to watch if you have ever sat screaming at this game for getting stuck or killed repeatedly.

This playthrough uses a password to skip to level 19-1, which begins the hardest set of levels. The amoeba levels have long unavoidable waits, it is advised to fast-forward through these.

Dave_dfwm strikes fear into the hearts of his enemies by tearing across the landscape and shooting everything in his path.

This movie features one... no, wait, six players controlling two characters simultaneously while smashing the previous time by 2 minutes and 41 seconds. However, this publication chooses to use warps.

Interesting fact about this game is that Konami used to implement unconventional ways of piracy protection, in this particular case by making each hit or an otherwise harmful collision in the game result in an instant death if you play it illegitimately. Apparently, this was how a large amount of people were used to playing it in pre-emulation era, without ever finding out Konami's little sabotage.

This movie by AnS is set up in a fashion that imitates this handicap by playing the game in hard mode (accessing it through a password), where every hit results in death. Other than that, it also improves the previous movie by 2 minutes 48.7 seconds, using several major glitches and a lot of small tricks explained in great detail in the author's comments.

The game's pirate origins are obviously visible - many of the graphics are ripped from popular games like Super Mario Bros. and Sonic the Hedgehog, and the sound effects are borrowed from Tiny Toon Adventures.

This is the author's second submission of this game, and improves on the previous one by skipping intermission screens faster.

As a minimalist variation of a pacifist goal, this movie does not contain any destruction in the levels: candles and walls are left intact, items stay untouched, and no enemy is harmed — with the exception of the bosses, who are killed mercilessly with the help of the "critical hit" glitch.

With Simon sneaking by most enemies with no subweapons and only his leather whip, this ends up being quite a stealthy run.

Castlevania II: Simon's Quest is the story of Simon's horrible weekend without sleep. Two years after defeating Dracula, the hero is physically weakened by Dracula's curse. He must gather Dracula's remains and incinerate them at the ruins of Castlevania in order to end the curse.

Like the first movie, a two-player run makes for some interesting things, like Chip and Dale carrying each other around, and heavy abuse of death to take advantage of balloons. By killing off one character, he respawns on a floating balloon, thus going ahead of the other character. Unlike the first, however, this run frequently destroys bosses by using one of the characters as a weapon. Only in the Chip 'n Dale series can such apparently irrational action be justified.

This movie certainly does not lack speed or complexity, and is especially entertaining if you have played the game and know how hard it is. In this run, Randil improves the previous movie by over 4 minutes primarily thanks to a new trick that allows you to use the Power Boots for twice as long. As a result, he doesn't need to shop as much, allowing him to forgo the detour to Route 22 in order to exchange his gold for money.

The author, pdk, controls two players simultaneously for more speed and entertainment.

In this run, £e Nécroyeur uses many minor movement tricks and precise shooting to complete this game in a little over 10 minutes.

Whereas the previous movie's goals went for both speed and points, this movie's primary goal is speed, and only gets as many points as possible when it doesn't waste time. For example, targets and swimmers are deliberately missed to reduce score-counting at the end of levels. Altogether, this is 54 seconds faster than the previous version.

Contra Force offers a selection of one of four characters, a jumping glitch involving the pause screen, and lots and lots of lag - and yet the game is still completed remarkably quickly.

In this run, GuanoBowl ends all the races early by knocking his opponent out. Rockets are purchased to make the hammer throw go farther and gum is used to help him hold his breath underwater. This run gets the extended ending by winning as Crash's school.

This beats the previous run by almost 12 minutes. As with that run, the second-controller cheats are off-limits (the fm2 only has data for controller 1). Other than that, no holds are barred. Many new glitches are used. For a complete list, see the game resources page. Movement is faster by abusing the no-subpixel engine. Much effort went into lag reduction, especially in certain areas. However, the vast majority of the time savings is due to better experience management.

In this run, Randil makes use of all given weapons to save time. The run has no music, because sound effects were chosen by default instead.

This movie is a joint venture between AnS and Randil to improve the previous run by Walker Boh, resulting in 35.7 seconds saved through means of extensive optimization, luck manipulation and lag removal. We recommend reading the authors' comments for more details.

In this run by ars4326, the Japanese version Mashou (魔鐘) is used due to it containing an inventory glitch that, essentially, gives you unlimited bells after death-warping and defeating Cold Killer twice. New routes, sequence breaking, and movement optimizations are also involved in this updated run.

In this run, £e Nécroyeur uses luck manipulation and frame precision to complete this game in the fastest time possible.

It features a hero named Victar, who can easily jump on a tall tree (and sometimes over it, since he just can't jump much lower) and is willing to defeat the evil demon that conquered the world. The key to defeating it is Victar's sword, which is conveniently broken into pieces that must be collected over the span of the game.

So watch his sword get bigger and more powerful every few minutes, until its wielder finally reaches maturity decides it's big enough to save the world.

Xipo comes back to this game with yet another large improvement: This time 108 seconds were saved over the previous movie. It was achieved by manipulating enemies to drop speed upgrades upon their death.

Note: This movie was created using an overdumped ROM. It needs "Demon Sword (U) [o1].nes" to playback properly.

The battling style of this game can be described like Final Fantasy meets Pokémon; your team of warriors versus the opposing team of warriors, and any opponents freed from their posts can be later picked up in the wilds and converted to your side!

Acmlm bests the previous movie by over 25 minutes by reverse engineering the game and brute forcing luck manipulation. Critical hit, it's super effective.

Normally, shooting bubbles stops Ariel, so a speedrun would try to avoid all the enemies. However, the author manages to fire shots with little movement delay thanks to a glitch involving turning around. Luck manipulation is also used to beat the bosses quite quickly. Dizzy the Adventurer is an enhanced NES port of the sixth game in the series, Dizzy: Prince of the Yolkfolk, completed fast by the use of creative routes and of course, maximum speed.

There is also a run of the second game in the series, Treasure Island Dizzy.

This latest completion by Phil beats the previous movie by 11 frames by carefully optimizing Jumpman's movement pattern.

In this movie, MESHUGGAH improves on the previous run through better luck manipulation, more precise shooting, and by dying on a very specific frame to skip the score countdown after the first level.

Donkey Kong Jr., along with Donkey Kong, were classic games that were played by millions of players on various consoles, including the NES, Atari 2600 and Game and Watch. The story is that Jumpman, now known as Mario, has captured his rival Donkey Kong and it's up to Junior to save his dad.

Although one would not expect a movie of Donkey Kong Jr. to be interesting to watch, except in the retro sense, this movie is actually quite surprising. The vines are cleverly utilized to move the hero forward faster than any member of the Kong family before or after this game.

This is a 1 frame optimization of Level 4 compared to the previous movie.

Thanks to tools and the low difficulty of the questions, the author, goofydylan8, doesn't have to dare the other team even once to win.

Released on many systems, this game was so popular that they even released it for cellular phones and made a board game. Even a Hollywood movie has been made.

One interesting feature of the game is that some very powerful moves can only be used from a crouching position, usually after landing from a jump or getting up from a knockdown. This is why you see the player jump so frequently.

This run by xipo plays the game with only 1 player. It is slower than the two-player run largely because it can't use tricks like the two players hitting each other with flying knees. However, there are still some interesting tricks and strategies in this movie well worth watching.

This new version by xipo is 18.51 seconds faster than the previous effort by adelikat. Most of the improvement came from better application of glitches.

If you're more a fan of runs where one macho man defeats an entire gang alone, there is also a one-player run available.

This is the author's 3rd version and is an improvement of about 28 seconds over his previous movie.

By taking almost no damage in this TAS, the demon world is never seen. This is practically impossible to do without tool assistance, and even causes the game to exhibit glitches that speed up the game.

This video beats Level 20, Speed Hi of Dr. Mario in record time. Don't blink, or you might miss the twist ending.

This is an improvement of around a second to the previous run.

By continuously switching between the two modes, it allows the player to go as fast as possible, which makes an otherwise boring game interesting.

• All unnecessary random encounters have been manipulated into not happening
• The player dies several times in order to get transported back to the beginning
• Action commands are often intentionally not entered as soon as possible to manipulate critical hits and such

Dragon Warrior is an epic RPG series which now spans 8 games across many systems. The second game greatly expands on the first to include a party of three heroes (all descendents of Erdrick and the hero of DW1) and battles that may include many enemies.
The world is much bigger and there are many big dungeons to explore as well. Luckily there are new abilities and items to make this easier. Enemies can randomly drop items when defeated and there is a lottery which is the precursor to the casinos which appear in each later DW game. Finally, you might notice that many of the enemies in this game appear in later games, particularly DW8.

This game is known in the TAS world as being a pain to play due to the RNG (random number generator) being much harder to manipulate than most other games. As a result, seemingly random actions throughout the game are actually intentional manipulation of the RNG to ensure favourable outcomes, such as avoiding monsters or good battle outcomes.

To give you an idea of how surprising this time is to most players, the previous run is about 24 minutes longer than this one. Even before that, any run that was under 3 hours long was deemed to be very difficult to perform.

Thanks to this new method of item glitching, this is almost exactly nine minutes faster than the previous version of the run.
