First WIP that ends the game. 1170 frames faster than feos' initial attempt.
  • only 1 suicide route test, final (non-boss) level is a miserable series of interrupt juggling.
  • I can't kill the core with damage boosting, because it doesn't come down and Ryu doesn't jump high enough, feos or scumtron, any tips on this?

edit: last (non-boss) level is 153 frames slower than feos' one, so it's faster with 1 suicide (which takes 230 frames), but obviously a different dmg route is required to avoid too many interrupts.

I don't even remember.

6-3 indeed feels really dirty atm. Might be because of earlier death (or did I have 2 deaths there?).

You had 2 suicide/hp refill sequence, 2nd one was at the start of 6-3

Running into the tail then jumping in and getting bounced to the right should let Ryu stand in the 'wall' on his next jump. He can't do that without first pushing into it a bit, so I'm not sure it's possible without taking a couple hits.

Alternatively, would only damaging the head enough that it drops off and skitters away be pacifist enough? I don't think so, and you'd still have to wait for it to go off-screen for the core to drop anyway.

Thanks Scumtron!

If I'm not allowed to hit the head (nor the tail), I need to wait 104+60 frames for the first purple shit to hit me, letting me between the head+tail and the wall (under the core), jump straight up and take dmg, jump straight up for 3rd time and stuck on top right corner of the head.

The hitbox in this state is smaller than what the HUD shows. I can only dmg 3 times after stuck, then 6 times from the right side. I can't reach him from left side but only by repeating the previous steps.

I think it would take so much time, not sure to implement it.

edit: I see, I can jump back to the wall from the right side and stuck again without taking damage. It would make the movie 349 frames longer (5.8 seconds). Since I will submit it with feos and Scumtron as coauthors, I'm looking for your votes about this. I'm okay with the pacifist spirit. (Don't worry, this isn't the final version)

edit2: look #276 comment, forgot to boost from tail as Scumtron suggested, only 198 frames longer

We're allowed to use the same strats real-timers use. Just because it's where this category comes from.

The pacifist RTA (1st place one) does what Scumtron says edit: mentions, but says not so pacifist (dmg head enough to drop and go off-screen). It would be 61 frames longer than fastest one.
  • Kill head+core: this wip
  • Dmg head enough and kill core: 61 frames longer
  • Dmg boost and kill only core: edit: 349 198 frames longer

I think they don't kill the head just because it's easier to let it go. As soon as we damage it, it doesn't matter if we leave it be or kill, we've already damaged an enemy. And you can't really tell if it's part of the boss or not, but see what I did in Darkwing Duck: "no damage to enemies outside boss rooms". The rule sinister1 set for NG back when it started: "no weapon usage outside boss rooms". As we can see, both are met if we kill the head, and both are met if we follow the rules dxtr mentioned, and the latter are also met if we kill the head. So just do whatever's fastest.
