Annotation info:

OS: Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS, Linux kernel 5.4.0-59-generic libTAS: Version 1.4.1 interim 7e2a5bf6 PCem: TASVideos branch v17_13f53a2, commit 55f0fdb3b83e983646e7b5dcc6dbae5f5e2ee06b

Follow these instructions up through the NVR section: http://tasvideos.org/EmulatorResources/PCem/DOS.html#Early90s

Download FD12LGCY.iso (md5: a55750577b4c3b88dba489df4f929f88) from here: https://www.freedos.org/download/

In your .cfg file, set cdrom_drive = 200 and set cdrom_path = {path to FD12LGCY.iso here}.

In ~/.pcem/pcem.cfg, set confirm_on_stop_emulation = 0.

UNCHECK RUNTIME -> PREVENT WRITING TO DISK OR THIS MOVIE WILL DO NOTHING!

Set game executable to your pcem path. Set command-line options to --config {path to your .cfg file here} and then run the movie. On the last frame of the movie, stop PCem through libTAS (WAIT FOR IT TO CLOSE, DO NOT KILL).

This should leave you with these three files from the Early 90s premade config:

.cfg file in ~/.pcem/configs/ - Hashes for this will vary because file paths/names will be different for everyone.

.nvr file in ~/.pcem/nvr/ - md5: 4c885df878a4c302e1050232f4b3c866

For now, you may want to have fast-forward on when you run this movie. There are two restart inputs in the movie; these can be buggy. Each time there's a restart input, you will have to close the window manually after it. You can tell there's been a restart because the frame counter stops, these only happen on reboot prompts in the FreeDOS installation. Emulation normally continues and the RTC keeps ticking until you close the window, but if you have fast-forward on, it pauses the emulation properly. Just X out the PCem window and it will restart on its own after that. On the last frame of the movie, stop and kill PCem through libTAS.

This should leave you with these three files from the Early 90s premade config:

.cfg file in ~/.pcem/configs/ - Hashes for this will vary because file paths/names will be different for everyone.

.nvr file in ~/.pcem/nvr/ - md5: 4628d06be958fb8b577376d3f6c4a447

.img file wherever you originally saved it - md5: f1b6b5e374182b88812245d4cca0d6d3

Instructions have changed slightly, note that it now tells you to delete flash.bin. Also, run in fast-forward for best results.

This movie is based on the premade Early 90s PCem config: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KF5WPXgZTHVQL4UV8EmHlxP6Fag_BTot/view?usp=sharing

Follow the readme provided with the config to install it. Name the files boppin.cfg, boppin.pb570.nvr, and boppin.img.

The config will need the ROM files 1007by0r.bio, 1007by0r.bi1, and gd5430.bin (these are all case-sensitive) in the ~/.pcem/roms/pb570/ folder.

In boppin.cfg, replace the Joysticks section with the following:

Joysticks joystick_0_nr = 1 joystick_1_nr = 0 joystick_0_axis_0 = -2147483648 joystick_0_axis_1 = 1073741824 joystick_0_button_0 = 0 joystick_0_button_1 = 1

In boppin.img, insert the files for Boppin registered DOS version 1.1 into the root directory. The files and their MD5s are:

4ae0e820150335340068ebd6d91a9123 bop-help.exe 3464ec93a6b672a7c63e06b44e2052b8 boppin1.lvl 4b7ceb427fafc91abefab1e241446f13 boppin2.lvl da4568667c54ff8a6b2153b5d4c63110 boppin3.lvl b19610b393ea37dc5ed3ce80e9d8489d boppin4.lvl f93e53168dc5556339b2b65ac44f4ab1 boppin.cfg d6ba7309bc215094f95dc5256f57b854 boppin.exe 069998748b1f0c334539d6987e33075a boppin.res 9ef4c7ec3d56ea67f5c0868af5b826e5 setup.exe

In libTAS, make sure Runtime -> Prevent writing to disk is checked, otherwise you might have to remake the hard drive after running the movie once. Set the command-line options to `--config /path/to/boppin.cfg`.

Testing sync on a PCem run :)

This is the last WIP I'll upload before I complete the run. This run syncs fully for me on Bizhawk 2.5. The SHA-1 hash of the firmware file I used BEFORE the user data is blanked out is:

AE22DE59FBF3F35CCFBEACAEBA6FA87AC5E7B14B

Once Bizhawk blanks out the user data (it converts 0x3FE00 and beyond to 0xFF), it becomes the accepted firmware file and earns the green check mark. You can actually produce the accepted firmware file yourself by duplicating this process in a hex editor.

The first 15 episodes are done. I will probably go back and shave some frames off at some point now that I've learned some new quirks with the engine. The game is very hex-friendly so this shouldn't be an issue.

This was made with the DS core of Bizhawk, which is still in the testing phase. This movie should work on version 2.4.1.

The folder path should be "~/jill1/". If you have the folder elsewhere and don't want to move it, edit the autoexec portion of dosbox-jill.conf to have it mount from a different location.

This should sync with or without existing save files, although this run will overwrite the save in slot 1. It's unknown if different JILL1.CFG files will cause a desync.

Here's a new run of Jill of the Jungle using DOSBox through libTAS. This run cuts 20.74 seconds from the published run thanks to a new save glitch and other minor optimizations. All the information you need to sync this should be contained in the ltm.

Added RNG info to the HUD. It will now display future RNG indices with their damage rolls and maximum distance they will hit at. Distance checks take an extra roll, which is why the maximum distance is calculated from the previous RNG value. The number in white is the current RNG index (although the number for this index has already been rolled).

Here's the minimap script for Wolf3D. Loads up a map along with door states and enemy locations/facings. Once the enemies load up, enter "refresh" through the console to load the map. The colors are as follows:

Orange - BJ Brown - Guard Blue - SS Pink - Dog

Still need to figure out the IDs for other enemies and the damage rolls displayed in older encodes.

This is an extremely simple lua script for use in JPC-rr to facilitate mouse movement. There is also a display for which mouse buttons are currently triggered - make sure you have version 11.8-rc2 or later otherwise this display won't work.

Here are the movement commands.

movex i - Move the mouse "i" units in the x direction.

movey j - Move the mouse "j" units in the y direction.

moveb i j - Move the mouse "i" units in the x direction and "j" in the y direction.

Update 1/1/15: Now displays secret exit doors.

Displays an overlay identifying tiles in WL2, for use in navigating and visualizing glitch rooms.

Colors:

Red - Solid or unknown

Pink - Breakable

Green - Doors...the tile properties for the doors are:

0x4ECD: Mini-game

0x4EDB: Regular door

0x4F3A: Normal exit

0x4F60: Secret exit

Blue - Water

White - Platform

The text in the upper left displays the tile properties of the blocks above, at, and below Wario respectively. The first column is the RAM address where the tile ID can be found. If this is above 0xA000 then it's accessing the RAM banks (where level data is normally kept) - between 0xA000-0xBFFF is bank 2, between 0xC000-0xDFFF is bank 3, and between 0xE000-0xFFFF is bank 4. The second column is the raw tile property.
