I'd like to, but I can't even open the emulator! I do everything like Emulator Resource says, but when I open start-jpcrr.bat, I get a single window (looks like cmd window) which disappers instantly. I had better time with OpenMSX :-)
Add pause in the end of the batch.

I fail to see how that's an example, considering the RTA you link takes about 11 minutes, whereas the TAS is twice as fast ([1543] NES Gimmick! by Aglar & Hotarubi in 05:11.49). If a new TAS were submitted wit the same length as an RTA (or close to it), it would be summarily rejected for being suboptimal.
First of all, it's a 100% speedrun. If you watch this and the RTA, you'll see how similar the strats are. And it's not about total time, it's about precision.

You can get this result in real time, because it doesn't happen only if you start the game in the first frame, but you can't do it with only 1 frame of input, obviously.
Since the TAS movie would look quite indistinguishable from Alyosha's RTA, the question then becomes does the fact that there's only 1 frame of input enough to justify the TAS being on the site?
I'd actually say it's alright. We have real-time speedrunners skillfully reproducing tas-only (as it was believed) strats, and we don't unpublish such tases just due to that. Because tases still differ by precision. If you think about a 1-frame movie, it might seem that it's too similar to the slightly longer real-time run, but now even Gimmick's tas strats are reproduced, and for some reason no one thinks Gimmick is not worth having a tas for. Because of precision. And in this particular case, 1-frame movie is just simply fantastic to have!

What is that supposed to mean? 1-frame movie is human reproducible?

It's youtube fucking with us over years. It introduces an automatic algorithm to stop killink 30 fps blinking, it introduces 60 fps, then it drops the former, and we can't afford 2 encodes for every publication. I can do ng_deblink, and it would blend all the objects blinking at alternate frames while still leaving the video 60 fps. But it would have a lower priority than publishing accepted runs.

Um, it's what it looks like in the most accurate PSX emulator in the world, so...

Spike, why are you claiming 3 submissions at once? What's the point? You don't want occasional people who might occasionally have time to even touch it while you're dealing with other 2?

The thing is, you can't submit a vaultable run that has longer input but faster game completion and see it obsolete the one with shorter input, it only happened once I guess and it was a Moons (not Stars) run.

Fewer than one? I meant the minimal movie length, since it basically is game completion to us, as long as it leads to game completion and can't be improved. Yeah, the first ultimately unimprovable run in human history.

You guys are insane. EDIT: You're aware you've reached the theoretical limit of fastest possible game completion?

Uh right, can't pub before you tell the exact frame, otherwise it's all ready.

If you don't have what to improve there, it won't get accepted.

I don't know how can one corrupt a ring, sounds like it's just a glitch. Memory corruption means you know what addresses you corrupt and how exactly you do it, which isn't the case here.

And the rewind hotkey does work in it! But mouse wheel (with right button held down) provides better navigation means.

Related: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=356544#356544 From IRC discussion though, adelikat hated the idea back then :D klmz is back!!! EDIT: now, my actual thoughts. Before I touched bizhawk code (last summer), I was under general impression that .net/C# is something not so good, especially having not-so-amazing cross-platform compatibility (that would rule the world if it was there, just like Qt is conquering it, but Qt is for C++, and has no C# bindings). Well, the Mono branch works on Mac, but no one yet succeeded compiling it on Linux, and we're not even talking about microwaves android. However, that would be fixable if there was a dedicated Linux dev, and Linux devs hate C#. Then I saw OOP for the first time, while debugging it. That first impression was terrible. Then I actually started committing. And you know what? I love it. A huge part of it is that IDE bends over backwards to make your work comfortable. Especially resources managment, especially after winapi (most emulators I saw, and tasers used, are winapi). I also got hooked by overall language simplicity, unlike in some advanced C++ (well I'm not touching complicated matters, but what I do touch feels very nice). And there's a freaking ton of .net classes for all cases. About bugs. I opened tastudio for a few times during its first years of existence, and... I didn't believe in it. Then adelikat made some amazing progress, based on old legacy of fceux, and on my current notion, then SuuperW joined, and those 2 got the business perk! So when I moved in, it was already a workable tool, but with tons of bugs. So what did I do? I started hunting them down. After half a year, I only know of a couple bugs in tastudio that I just haven't gotten around to fix. That's it! A couple of bugs man. It's fully workable now! It means, it just takes a person who knows what he's doing to come and trace those bugs, they exist because someone haven't yet had time (or interest) for checking all the possible situations. We have tasers for that in a way: they try all possible situations daily. So it only takes a coder interested in getting the tool working. Finally, there's insane interaction between tools, so you won't make it any easier, if each tool goes in a separate dll. And if they go all in one, it will be just as complicated as bizhawk, to say the least. Bizhawk is so huge and complex because the logic it accounts for is that huge and complex. (Generic) you can make it simpler, but without knowing what you're doing it will definitely break something else. So I entrust rerecording to people who've been on the rr-scene for a decade, and also contribute things that I am fully confident in.
