Well, it must be notable by something. But personally I don't see a problemwith minigames and stuff.
The point was to place deadly boring but still very notable runs to a better place than drowning them in vault.

Did I forget to mention it's for Demo tier? Anything arbitrary may potentially go there, we just need to set the border between this and rejection.

I think the tier (at least for vault) must be decided by a judge as he accepts the movie. And the future placing must depend on rating: whether it is a vault movie or a regular one (moons/stars are still assigned by trained monkeys starmen). So we seem to need a rating borderline to consider movies vault worthy (6.0?). Also, for each tier we may have a thread for complaints and suggestions, moving the run here or there if the audience disagrees with the current placing.
That is: at the moment of publication, place the run to a certain tier, then allow it to navigate on its own, then if people ask, sticky it to some tier.
And I have some suggestion on how to improve the validity of ratings, as in, true weighting.
Entertainment: for anyone above lurker or newbie, must be waighted as 1.0. Anyone can have a good taste on entertainment, net depending on anything at all. We just need to make sure it's not a troll. But making 5 posts isn't enough to be considered non-abusive, so I suggest weight newbies' votes as 0.5 or so. Probably, 0.3 for lurkers, 0.6 for newbies and 1.0 for the rest.
Technical: we need to be sure you understand the aspects of tasing to weight the ratings you give well. Let's take the average rating as a factor (both entertainment and technical rating the rater himself has) - but that's for tasers! And for non-tasers we can choose something different as a factor.
I keep suggesting rating posts themselves (+/-). For forum members it might also be a rank factor. We shall invent something to keep the average post rating of a person within 0.0-1.0 to match the factor the tasers would have. For example, mklip's posts are so helpful his rating would be extremely solid. Actually, rating the posts would help us to make sure the person is sane.
Probably, tasers may have 1.0 + average reting. I dunno. You say how you feel about improving the weighting system.

My thoughts, with some wording fixes. Add a Demo tier for runs done by bots, hacks, multitases and such stuff.
Note that tier must be decided by how awesome/boring is the run, not by what categry it belongs to. Categorization is a whole different thing. I suggest having several systems of distplaying our movies.
Navigation by game name, showing all runs for a game anyway

Encoding Guide, speaking of encoding and muxing, is a few yearts old and has nothing to do with my package. Synthax highlighter is at all THE LEAST necessary thing, and it also has nothing to do with encoding package.
Dedupping plugin IS included in my pack, and works perfectly as long as you provide logo and video.
Replacing the audio track with something of another source than the original dump has nothing to do with TASVideos official encodes needs.
Please ignore all you read in the Encoding Guide about encoding and muxing (dumping and creating a logo is still helpful). Try using all default settings of the package at first. Trim the video at frame ~2000 or so to make sure all 4 encodes process well. Placing AVI in a root folder of the package (...\TASEncodingPackage) is right. Logo resolution may be any.
If you succeed to get correct encodes the default way, we may help adjusting the thing to your own needs. IRC is a good place to ask too.

If a vault movie gets the same rating the non-vault one has, placing the former in vault must be revised.

I am all for making the rating system more sensible. But that's what you get with the current one. And why aren't you surprised or objecting towards giving this game both tens? It's still perfecly legit by default, right?

Tech rating stands for how many different TAS skills are involved in making the run, how deeply they are applied and how well the run showcases them.

Do you still take given ratings seriously? Actually this is the first time I give untrue rating at all. And it's untrue only for Technical value. Zero entertainment is perfectly reasonable: after I watched an atari game I felt disgusting (I played atari at the age of 8 and nothing had changed). Then I wished to see how people rate it. "10/10". Okay. Fuck seriousness after that. People seem to rate for fun (I never did).
EDIT: Originally I put 1 for tech quality for being an undistinguishable mess, not a run of a game. Even reversed and optimized, some "games" still provide just NO room for a serious TAS, just for messing around. Also, entertaimnent here is that bad it affects tech value hard.
