Mr. Goemon (Ｍｒ．五右衛門) is a platforming game that was released on in Japan for the arcades and the first game in the Ganbare Goemon series. Set in fantasy medieval Japan, notorious thief Goemon has noticed demons appearing in large numbers all over Edo. He takes it upon himself to get rid of all of them by taking away their source of power, a lamp at the top of Edo castle. However, there are many ninjas out to get Goemon for the bounty, making Goemon's journey harder as he faces hordes of both ninjas and demons.
