Here is a tas of Genix Family Arcade. Genix family is similar to Pang.
I started working on it earlier. However, I was stuck at 2000+ frames, when I knew I could get shorter. So I tried again, and I managed to get 1704 frames. I then improve again, it is now 944 frames.
FBA used v.0.0.7. Damage to save time. Used 2 players.
This game allows you to start at any level. Starting at the top level and winning continues to credit and ending so I just went with it. Maybe I make a film at all levels. Even if this one happens publishment.
I would like to see other Tasers try this game. It is fun.

ars4326: Hello again, Gay. First off, good job in shaving the time down on the final level to just over 15 seconds. However, I'm going to go ahead and state that I want to see an 'all levels' run of this made, instead.
Main reason being: While certain runs (e.g. Tetris, Dr. Mario, etc) have began at the last (or hardest) level, they also generally have minimal gameplay differences from the beginning. This game, and its 49 selectable stages, contains enough stage variety to the point where I'm unable to justify the publishing of a single stage run of it, via use on an in-game stage select feature.
Nonetheless, I do look forward to eventually seeing an 'all levels' run from you, Gay. If the final level is any indication, I could imagine such a run being completed by you in less than 15 minutes. Don't get discouraged!

Since the game allows you to select a stage without a password, I think it's ok to TAS only the last stage... right? Gonna vote yes for being short enough.

Kurabupenguin: I doubt it. Simply selecting the final stage and playing it requires little effort. If skipping levels can only be done using glitches (e.g. Arkanoid) then I'd say it's generally permissible. Gay: I don't believe that this submission is likely to be publishable. I would suggest that you attempt an all-levels TAS run instead.

I object to skipping 95% of the game via a menu option. Anyone can do that, that's not TAS-level optimization. No vote.

You were right, ALAKTORN. I found a new stretegy, saved 760 frames, the TAS is now only 15 seconds long... Sorry for rushing. tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/25354296907053889 Anyway, I started working at all levels. I'll leave this though, because I think it is still publishing material (it exceeds the game, right? And there are other tases published that simply go to the last level because is unlocked from the start.)

This looks like an alright choice of game. It is basically Pang / Buster Brothers. I have no problems starting on the last level if the game actually gives you that option. Several puzzle game runs at TASVideos currently use the last level possible: Tetris, Super Gussun Oyoyo, Dr. Mario, Tetrisphere (I think), Boulder Dash (for NES), and probably some others. Then again, maybe that only qualifies them to be "Demonstration" movies that are ineligible for Vault. I don't know the specifics on that. If there's a strategy that beats the hardest level in only 15 seconds, I'd say that seems like a worthy choice for at least the Vault tier!
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) But there's an important difference here. "Level" has multiple meanings. In some games, it is used for difficulty levels, such as easy, medium, hard; or the fact that Tetris goes faster at higher difficulties. This applies to every single game in your list, as well as Tony Hawk. Starting at a lower difficulty would mean showing the exact same gameplay three or four times in a row, which is not all that interesting. In other games, "level" actually means "room" or "area". Such as this one, where every room is markedly different than the others, and not necessarily harder than the previous or easier than the next. Starting at the first room would, well, show a lot of diverse and different roosm, which could be entertaining. Starting at the highest difficulty level is the default for TASing. Skipping 95% of rooms with a menu option is what I'm objecting to.

I'm just going to leave this here. Most relevant examples from that list: - Zanac
Due to the highly repetitive nature of this game, the hidden 9th input button (the console's Reset button) is used to enable stage select to warp to the final (12th) level. This results in an unusually long gray screen at the start of the movie. Starting on the final level with 3 lives and only the initial pea-shooter for a weapon normally makes the game near impossible to win.
- F-Zero "first track" F-Zero is of a genre (namely, Racing) that requires a lot of skill to optimise, and where (when it comes to time trials, at least) individual-course TASes are generally preferred. Also, I'd like to clarify that Super Gussun Oyoyo skipped levels in the 'room/area' sense (not the difficulty sense as Radiant implied) and, unlike Genix Family, only skipped as far as mid-game.

Radiant: You're acting like I walked into the options or did some weird shit to get the highest level. When in reality, the level selection screen is the first thing you see after picking a character, so it is normal. It is a normal part of the game, it is not an "option" tucked away. Also can someone replace the TAS with the 15 seconds one?

Come to think of it... If you set e.g. Tetris to the last level, then you've set it to the highest difficulty. Because the pieces go so much faster, they're almost impossible to handle for a human player. Whereas if you set this game to the last level, you've set it to the lowest difficulty. Because clearly, completing one screen to win is much easier than completing 30-odd screens to win (including the aforementioned one screen).

This is false, or at least misguided. The F-Zero single-track TAS was reluctantly published for the reason you'd stated, but at no point in the site's history it preferred single-level/track/course. Had it been submitted at a later time when racing TASes became more commonplace, it would have likely been rejected outright. Individual levels are preferred in respective games' communities and YouTube, for ease of comparison. But those are irrelevant to the topic at hand. (Don't confuse that with individual modes or cups, where levels/tracks/courses are grouped and share a similar set of properties, don't influence each other, and as such can be completed in any order.)
