why didn't I see this topic! :O what bugs me is #3 SpinDashMaster's comment "In honor of you teaching the method, I'll neither share nor use this method again." maybe someone already found a way to manipulate the boss? I played competitively only the Adventure sequel so I have no idea about how to help in this TAS, but good luck to nitsuja, the speed gaining trick looks awesome :)

Hey, maybe you should read the post that mine quotes. I can't believe how stupid some people are. BRIAN IS A GOOD TASer. So we can't just "disregard it as bullshit." My god...
I read that, he's a good TASer, but also a faggot, and a faggot with a grudge against you, I don't see how that makes a lie unprobable

Hey look, someone who knows what they're talking about! Everyone else needs to fucking learn to understand the situation.
in reality any TASer could come up and tell you they have improved something, but if they have no proof of the statement you should regard it as bullshit and continue on ignoring what that TASer said, I bet Brian is laughing it off real hard at you and the team for having been able to make this whole mess also I don't really know anything about SM64 TASing but, how would you even improve a single frame? can't you just optimize everything by trial and error? I don't see how improving a frame is something that you guys can't figure out yourselves unless a new strategy is involved (which isn't the case from what I've understood)

So, let me get this straight. Some arrogant kid made a bullshit claim he can't even prove and manages to halt your entire TAS that way?
yeah, pretty much

Either way, can someone fill me in on what the whole drama is about, please?
watch the "0 Star TAS update" and follow the links from there, I think that fills you in well enough

that dashing technique made me come in my pants multiple times O_o btw, about Wave Cyclone, have you noticed that moving around slows you down? but I guess you make up for the time loss with enterteinement one thing you should probably be doing though, let the boost gauge fill, that'll give you unlimited boost for a while, which is certainily faster than randomly wasting it

Wow, you have my respect. It's easy to TAS a Jump'N'Run, but Strategy games take much more effort as you need to plan everything perfect from the beginning.
while there is strategy of my own in this run, the whole Advance Wars community is helping in that regard, so I can't take full credits M8 should come later today edit: beautiful, Desmume is crashing whenever I load a state while playing a movie...

how does that site exactly work? I think if I'll upload the dsm there it'll be when I complete the TAS, with the full vid though there might be problems.. at the end of M3 the .dsm file seems to desync for some reason, I still don't know how I was able to record the video... so that would be a problem when uploading it

I've watched your latest TAS, and it looks awesome! congratulations, keep up the good work :) though I noticed 3 things: jumping into cutscenes: it seems to me you're jumping against the "invisible wall" of certain cutscenes, from my testing (at least against the 1st boss in the game) jumping against those walls doesn't make the cutscene start until you've touched the ground, meaning it's faster to dash against them rather than jumping against them low jumping: I've said this before, from my tests it seemed that doing low jump (not pressing the jump button fully) makes you go slower for some reason, now, maybe this is true only when you keep the jump button pressed for 1 frame or do many of them in a row (I don't remember how I tested it), but you should try to test it and see what's the best way to jump, because I've seen some low jumpings in your vid wall buffering: I've found that doing an attack (either shooting with the gun or slashing with the sword) when you are wall-jumping, makes you do the jump in a different angle which is faster, I saw you have done it on some of the wall-jumping but haven't done it on some other wall-jumping, why is that?

First, my jump is all dash jump, not just jump. And 772 frames to kill the boss.
I didn't mean "just jump" I meant low jump, as in you are dash jumping but pressing the jump button for very little time so you don't jump high? that is slower than jumping high, that's what I meant nice boss fight, is there no one who can make a video of it?

I couldn't watch the video, but... if I understood correctly you're lowjumping continuosly? with my tests, that turned out to be slower than dash+jump or dashjumping repeating jumps, I don't know why but I tried between the boss doors and it took more frames with low jumps than not with dash+1 single jump+dash it took me 883 frames to kill the boss (if my tests are written correctly), how many did it take you?

I hope you do cause that looked pretty great! Though can't you manipulate the boss not to try hit you with its tail?
I've tried to manipulate it but that's the best I got, that was my first TAS (and only still) so I'm not very good at it why would taking damage be better?
