Since MMZX boss manipulation is impossible without disassembly I don’t know how to do, I’m back here.
Meaning we should be getting Echigoya death at the very least on 8501. But since Up+Select should save 2 frames, 8499 would be correct.
Edit: Saved a fuck ton on Katanal. 6239 death cutscene. That’s 12 frames. Better last 2 hits. /// 6227. 24f. I feel like it should be possible to squeeze in 2 more frames but I can’t do it. Probably even more improvable by redoing the whole thing rather than just the last 2 hits, but now it’s pretty good so I don’t think I’ll bother trying.
The old (good) after Katanal and Echigoya fight doesn’t seem to sync. I’ll look into it more another time.
8475 Echigoya death predicted at this point.

That’s your opinion, lol.
I’m perfectly aware of all the variables– one of the movies I’ve been working on for, I don’t even know, 5 years by now? With off and on testing would end up as a 0 rerecord count movie when submitted here, simply because my method of TASing it has advanced to a point where rerecords aren’t even useful anymore. That’s not to say that you can’t very easily judge the quality of a bad movie based on the rerecord count, though, and there have been hundreds of such examples by newbie TASers and their submissions here.
Regardless of that, TehBerral actually brought up a valid issue– what’s up with the 3 rerecord count of this publication? http://tasvideos.org/4673S.html
It looks like a mistake and should be fixed.
Edit: OK I just wanted to show this: http://tasvideos.org/4702S.html
That’s usually the mark of a good TASer. :p

(Edit) I think this might also be a better example.
That’s not a good example, that looks like an error that should be purged instead.
I also doubt your movie is optimized considering the rerecords, but let’s not go off-topic.

As for how I figured it out, I have an emulator with data breakpoints, but it hasn't been released to the public yet...
no$gba debugger has breakpoints too
Tried looking into this but on the website it says no$GBA doesn’t support savestates for DS games? How is a debugger even helpful in that case? lol (Also is the debugger built into the normal no$GBA version?)

It seems like you don’t understand what a frame is. A video is made of images. A frame is each individual image that makes a video. Each one of those images is 1 frame. The framerate is how many images (frames) appear in a determined amount of time (usually 1 second). If the framerate is 60fps (frames per second), it means that there are 60 images in 1 second. Once you know the framerate, as has been said, it’s simple mathematics: frames ÷ framerate = time in seconds. 60 frames (images) at 60fps is 1 second. 30f at 60fps is 0.5 seconds. 60f at 30fps is 2 seconds.
My explanation sucks but maybe you understood something from it. Wikipedia has a page on this, which may be of help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_frame

^Yeah, I should’ve checked the FAQ. Apparently, Ocean Palace Lavos is beatable too, with a sort of NG+ LLG save (not on a first playthrough). The FAQ explains how and also links to this 2008 thread about it: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/563538-chrono-trigger/42693858
That sounds mad cool. The FAQ also shows how to beat Pink Nu Specchio with the LLG party.
That FAQ is actually really interesting. At the end it says “Basically the final party levels of 1 4 15 15 16 20 37 are the
lowest possible withstanding the maximum level of scrutiny I can give it.” so it might be maxed out.
Edit:
From that 2008 topic:
“Just playing around on my non-NG+ save and I "defeated" OP Lavos. There seems to be a bug where a person reivived by GreenDream is untargetable... I ended up targeting Lavos with a Full Tonic and it killed him somehow.
Then unfortunately the bug persisted and I couldn't heal Robo after Doors of Doom on the next form. Still, freaky. I actually can't figure out how to disable this bug and it's annoying. Hopefully it won't show up in my NG+.”
“So I guess I remembered wrong and it was an elixir that killed him. In any case, I managed to duplicate my success on the last two forms, technically finishing a LLG through OP Lavos without NG+ even.”
Weird bug, anyone knows what it is?

GameFAQs’s writer’s wording was 100% pointless and highly confusing. Not my fault. I still don’t know whether he meant what’s being implied in this topic, because that sure is not what he wrote.
Anyway, how do you beat the final Lavos without Magus?
Using the DS version could be an option but I think the SNES one is a lot more iconic.

That would be a requirement for a lowlevel run, then.
It's almost as if that's what they've been talking about this entire time when they were talking about "excluding" him.

Excluding Magus reduces the average level of all the characters.
What does that even mean? Just because you don’t use him it doesn’t mean your average level is lower. So long as he’s unlocked and part of the party, he’ll be a part of the average level.
