You wrote that you didn't understand the head changing in the final boss. Did you look at the battle scripts for it?
He wrote he didn’t in the old TAS, now he has an address that helps.

Unfortunately, this messes up the RNG for the miniboss and adds 6-7 frames of wait time to get a better spawn.
Are you killing the enemies on the same frame as before? Weapon use makes no difference on RNG, it’s all about timing of kills. The RNG gets called every time a drop can or can’t happen, to decide the outcome; not when shooting.

Was the Lakitu skip an old improvement or new? Can’t even tell how the second star was improved.

Another damage boost vid: http://www.twitch.tv/alaktorn91/c/6151039 New glitch I’ve come across: Sometimes when I go from pressing Right to neutral, I end up facing left. I thought it was just my fingers twitching and pressing left, but it actually happened without me having the finger on the left key this time. So it feels more like a glitch. My new glitchless WR 22′32″32: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CTcSk_nayA It also has a damage boost in Stage 2 on the 2nd yellow ninja in the yellow ninjas room (while going to the left).

Is this not a notable improvement? Going from 1 star to 3 and changing up the route, skipping a Bowser stage entirely.

Wow, nice strategy. That’s one of the few SM64 stars I tried to improve when I TAS’d it.

Those phantom grabs are ridiculous, lol. For Mandrill’s stage, did you hack the game to be bright or did you TAS in darkness? I’m not sure about TAS of the year but I think he’ll get rookie of the year.

The fastest way to defeat a lot of bosses in X1-3 is to alternate between charged and uncharged shots while using the travel time of uncharged shots to gain a head start on the charge time of the succeeding charged shot. This is because you can't start a charge while another charged shot is on screen, but you can while an uncharged shot is. So the idea is to fire charged shots from point blank range so they hit the boss as quickly as possible after you become fully charged, then create as much distance as possible between you and the boss and fire the uncharged shot so that it connects when the boss's immunity frames expire. The more distance you can get, the earlier you can fire the shot and start your next charge.
Thank you for the thorough explanation.

You mention “we” in the submission text, but I only see 1 author. Who is “we”?

^That special ending actually makes it interesting again. Hopefully it’s something good.

Probably check the map ID for no changes within an allotted time? Or some version of that.

Just dropping a possibly useful trick found by S0tena recently by mistake. http://www.twitch.tv/s0tena/c/6109439 Using the spellcard against an enemy close to a wall, may allow you to bypass the wall if it’s thin enough. We already kind of knew this (hitting a fairy during the Cirno skip makes it easier to do when you’re doing the spellcard method), but we never thought it could allow for otherwise impossible clips.

Also was it really necessary to kill the small bees at the boss? Looked like it slowed you down.
I don’t think this was ever answered. Also I see you were able to improve the shot on that ball-shooting thing, lol.

That was some sick Vile manipulation in the intro stage. Storm Eagle was absolutely epic, lol. Question: is double dashing not slower? I thought you needed to jump in order to not slow down at the end of a dash. Another thing, I don’t understand the strategy for boss fights. Why do you switch around charged shots and non-charged? I thought normal dash-shots would be the fastest.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPvlNbznUNE At 24:40 in the current TAS, I think time was lost. I’m watching http://www.twitch.tv/ikkisoad stream his first random TAS attempt, and he did something that I think was faster. He started the up-dash far earlier, and clipped against the roof, which pushed him outward next to the wall, which allowed him to walljump. He didn’t kill the enemy, but jumped above it and did the whole thing in a single jump. There are probably other wallclips like that in the game which I think would save time. Something to keep in mind. Edit: I’ve seen from another guy a strategy for the boss at 9:00 that could give a 3-cycles. Basically you need to get the red orb at the top, and you can shoot it in such a way that the boss gets hit by both the box thing and a rotating red pellet from your charged buster shot. I was also thinking maybe you can get 2 boxes to hit the boss if you get them at the correct height and they hit on the same frame, but I have no idea.

Tried it once. - Races from SpeedRunsLive?: Yes, always stream races. What else do you stream?: I’ve streamed casual play in the past, but I think I’d only do RTAs right now. Do you stream on a schedule?: No.

I remember this game having a really quick shortcut to beating it fast… is that only NG+?

This topic reminded me that Mothrayas and Rolanmen were supposed to be working on a MMZX improvement. [1720] DS Mega Man ZX by Noxxa & Rolanmen1 in 1:09:14.29 Better RNG manipulation, better route, better optimization.

The old run could use some more polish, and make use of some improvements like the small route change to B-3 and using Vent instead of Aile (to save on dialogue/cutscene time).
[2413] PSX Tenchu: Stealth Assassins (USA) by Hâthor in 29:52.65 Actually TASing the game instead of just playing through it with slowdown. Me and NK started a run of it but I always end up dropping my projects. WiP that saves like over 10 seconds in the first stage alone: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/18269789872301701

The guy explains in the comments how he does it. “Simply Crazy Dash and Limit Cut all the way to the end to get the longest jump.To perform a Crazy Dash let off the accelerator, shift into Drive, then press the accelerator. For a Limit Cut, release both pedals and press R+D+Accelerator for a speed boost beyond your top speed.”

I don’t understand this really well but I’ll try a rough translation. “This TAS isn’t serious. That’s why it doesn’t use the instant-death item. It doesn’t aim for fastest, it’s kind of a playaround. The guy who made that TAS usually is like that. The reason could be because the emulator is bugged. When battling, if you only have 1 party member, the game freezes. It’s impossible to create something submittable to TASVideos, so he just made something that was somewhat alright. If there weren’t bugs, I would’ve made a better TAS.”
