If having a faster boss fight triggers one more achievement screen, then it’s probably faster to lose time at the boss so that you can skip that screen.

It’s not an issue of “too many keys”, it’s an issue of which keys you’re trying to press. I don’t know the specifics, but depending on what you’re trying to press at the same time it may or may not work. What I do with diagonal inputs is 7 = up+left 9 = up+right etc., I’ve binded those numpad numbers to the diagonal movements.

Yeah, movies definitely need to get rated more. For me it’s hard to do so because when I watch a movie, it hasn’t been published yet, so by the time it’s published and I can vote I’ve forgotten what votes I wanted to give. As far as my 2015 resolution… I have boatloads of projects and never finish any of them. Tons of TASes, tons of speedruns, translation work. What I’d like to do is being able to get a nice following on Twitch, speedrun/stream more games and become one of the cool dudes on there. Finishing the AWDS TiS and Tenchu TASes would also be nice, but no promises there.

This is a really cool game, why is there no interest? ;/ I had made an encode of my old stage 3 TAS but never posted it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqqiYizrCpA I also do RTA high score runs, here’s my WR done without the farming of infinite points: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=peerkbWQAvg I still think banning the infinite farming could make for an interesting high score TAS. For an any% TAS we’re gonna have to figure out how damage boosting works.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzsaJIMwca0 16:00.17 what a way to fail sub, whelp. Had 2 runs before that that were 20+ seconds faster, but failed them.

^I partly agree that ACE lost its charm by this point, but it’s still cool to see and try to understand why the glitching works. As far as using it to beat levels more normally, I’m not sure if that would be just a “arbitrarily limiting the power of a glitch” thing or not. It looks cool in your speedrun though.

That’s a stupid answer. ars4326 is absolutely right. Anyway, this community is mature enough for there not to be any problems if a female decides to out herself as such. I’ve said it before in the other topic already but there’s no need for you guys to try to protect them by saying that displaying their genre is a bad idea and should be removed. Not a single female has been against this idea, it’s all guys thinking the poor girls must be protected from abuse.

I wonder if there's less text on the original Japanese version, though.
Considering I’m the any% authority now, I decided to switch over to Japanese because it’s about 20 seconds faster due mostly to text (it saves ≈ 4 seconds from 2 different strategies and loses ≈ 5 seconds from another which gets worse). I got 16′05″21 which is a “WR” but really it’s a worse run than my English WR. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bd7_1pxg0BA Still trying to get that sub… best Japanese version splits give me 15′30″ now.

Are you sure those addresses are 2 consecutive ones instead of just 1 with a bigger data size? Maybe Firion’s HP is just 6108 with 2 bytes data size.

I would suspect that the items you get would be determined by a combination of "val" from the rng(), your rank, and which level you're on; is that still possible, or have your tests ruled that out?
Rather than “val”, the seed seems to have a lot more to do with it. Items are rank-dependant, doesn’t matter which level, and I’m of course testing everything while getting the same rank. With seed having more to do with it I mean that seeds 5643686, 39198118, and 72752550 give different items, yet have the same “val” cycle. Their amount of steps advanced when determining bonus items differ: 5643686 → 1838344415 (9) 39198118 → 3679897913 (7) 72752550 → 844708734 (8) Edit: hmm this seed has the same # of steps and gives very similar items as the one above: 790038400 → 1073123057 (9) Comparison of my item total: 884534571 884532681 What I had before: 884332570

I agree with sonicpacker. I doubt mindnomad asked for permission to upload those to YT, so he should at least make them unlisted. It’s what I did when I uploaded a Mario Kart 7 WR for archivial purposes when the runner deleted his YT ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xCXvURpGGA ). As far as the TAS goes, I like watching single-star runs of SMG2 but a full game run bores me…

FFT uses the standard PSX bios RNG for everything, it's in the Python code below:
Language: Python

def rng(seed): seed = (((0x41c64e6d*seed)&0xffffffff) + 12345)&0xffffffff val = (seed >> 10)&0x7fff return (val, seed)
As said, the code above is in the PSX bios (more precisely scph1001), so it could be used by many other PSX games.
Translated for easier understanding:
def rng(seed):
      seed = (((1103515245 * seed) mod 2^32) + 12345) mod 2^32
      val = rounddown(seed / 1024) mod 2^15
      return (val, seed)
This just opened my mind. This matches the Tenchu RNG, and plus it gives an extra value which could be used for things such as determining extra items at the end of the stage. I’m gonna investigate. Edit: investigation fruitless. ;_; There’s probably still 1 missing piece from all of this, which is the number of steps it does when determining items. We still don’t understand the formula behind it; if we knew and incorporated the “val” somewhere maybe we could predict which items you get. Edit: I think I’ve proved that “val” isn’t what determines the number of steps, though, as 1496 gave both 9 and 7 steps. Edit2: 1496 gave 2 Grenades, 1 Grenade and 0 Grenades… so it doesn’t seem like 1 val = 1 item either. Edit3: the vals always repeat, so it doesn’t seem like they can affect any randomness… :/ 5643686 28353, 11675, 31509, 10071, 21938, 5710, 25786, 32466, 5231, 29284, 39198118 28353, 11675, 31509, 10071, 21938, 5710, 25786, 32466, 5231, 29284, 72752550 28353, 11675, 31509, 10071, 21938, 5710, 25786, 32466, 5231, 29284,

As well they shouldn't. The site managers didn't make all those runs, nor should they be paid for it. I've made it known my future runs won't be submitted here without confirmation of rights to my work. I recommend others do the same...before someone takes your work and reuploads it. :)
Honestly I’d prefer it if there were a system so as to having all TASes published uploaded to the TASV channel monetized, and the money going to the authors of said TASes as listed in the submission. But I’m sure that would be way too complex, and then to be fair you’d need to give a % to the TASV owner or whoever, and then encoders would need a % too to be fair. Also, the fact that what we’re doing is basically illegal so I think that’s one of the reasons why the TASV channel doesn’t monetize its uploads. Edit: @Samsara: fair enough.

Wow, and he never shared any of that with me despite me asking him to. I had no idea he made that much, what a piece of shit.
I don’t think enough people saw this. Let it be known that MKDasher is a piece of shit. I won’t be working on the SM64DS improvement anymore.
What. Can you just not post it on either of his or your channel and on the TASVideos channel instead? I rather have the money go to this site to continue sustaining itself than unevenly split and cause strife. :P
I’ve filed a YT complaint to take it down from MKDasher’s YT, but that won’t go anywhere anyway. The TAS has been uploaded to the TASVideos channel already. Edit: by the way, the TASV channel takes no money from uploads.

Wait, is that actually true? Holy hell, it kinda sounded like a joke but if that's true then that's actually some bullshit worth dragging out for 3 pages and over 2 hours!
Your sarcasm is not welcome here.
