Can’t you turn your back to enemies before getting hit to get a damage boost instead of a damage pushback in this game? I guess not. The LEDs during rapid fire didn’t go on and off rapidly, is that a YT fps problem or the way your LEDs work?

It's not a freeware fangame. It is available on several Japanese stores which do not ship overseas.
Oh, I had no idea. I was linked to its download by runners saying it was free. Looks like they made it for Comiket. Japanese text might be a little bit faster but for RTA it’s been made standard to use the Eng version.

I use TAS to help improve my gameplay all the time, so I guess I’m the opposite. Can’t really say for sure though as I’ve only TAS’d SM64DS fully and I never even played that game in the first place. Tenchu is a game I’d probably want to go for the RTA WR after TASing it, though.

Well even if it doesn’t get published, it’s still an amazing run and I thank you for making it, Dooty.

This is an Ys-like freeware fangame using Touhou characters. I have a lot of tech and ideas and I’m sure a TAS of this would be fabulous if well-made. I don’t have the time to make it though, at least not right now; I don’t even know if it’s possible to TAS it. A few problems could be that the game lags a lot and some major timesavers depend on RNG. Current any% RTA WR 16′14″: http://www.twitch.tv/tsukibaka/c/5448496 (uses some outdated strategies). I’ve been running this game and streaming it on my Twitch. My PB is 16′55″ atm. I’ve got a bunch of videos of glitches and strategies on my Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/alaktorn91/profile Edit: just improved my PB to 16′39″ haha.

^Uhm, you can easily change your height by jumping if that’s the problem.

1) Taking damage there would be a lot slower; if you enter a boss battle with just one kong you'll be forced to break a DK barrel. Also, Dixie is the preferred character for almost all boss fights, so you'll need to switch to her.
The DK barrel would cost time, but I thought that overall it might’ve been faster anyway. The boss fight is only barely faster with Dixie I believe, all it is is throwing the TNT barrel on the first vulnerable frame the boss is, can’t Diddy do that too? And also, after the boss level, you do a raw switch from Dixie to Diddy, which costs time and probably makes up for the loss in time breaking a DK barrel would have at the boss… Am I wrong about the boss fight being the same with Diddy? I’m probably overestimating how much time, if any, sacrificing Dixie there would save, though.

^At 11:45, would it not have been faster to make Dixie fall on the vines and then use the invincibility to run across the end of the level? I think Diddy gets transported to where Dixie dies after an up throw, or am I wrong? At 22:07 I feel like you could’ve gone faster if you kept rolling into the 2 porcupine enemies. I’ve speedran that level myself and I know that you can be too fast for the ghostly rope to appear by boosting off all those enemies, but with TAS you should be able to time it right and I think it should be faster. If the in-game timer is slower, maybe the two versions calculate it differently? Or I don’t know, maybe it’s a normal 50 fps / 60 fps conversion thing.

Considering 2 very old tricks found by Japanese TASers have improved ABCs recently, how about someone contact them to check their opinions on BitFS?

Yeah, it’s kinda sad that a technically more impressive run can’t be published because of video output speed differences.

Sounds interesting. And also potentially terrible if people use it and pass it off as RTA. Don’t think I’ve seen a speed hack option on my Cheat Engine, I’ll have to check it out.

Can someone make an encode? Why is it slower in the end?

After almost 1k rerecords I saved 2 frames, lmao. Only the first half was optimized though, the second half was done without rerecords. That LJ is hard to optimize… think I’ll take a break for now. Next time I’ll do the second half and hopefully save at least 10 frames.

Wow, this was fucking terrible. I reTAS’d from a little further back and I’m saving about 20 frames. This is gonna take some work to do properly… Progress on the bruteforcing is stalled because the coder is too busy.

Still looks to me like it could have more damage boosting. Movement makes no sense now, lol. Voting meh.

Well imagine if you could VSC a lava boost. That’d be quite amazing. I have no idea how it could be done though.

You mean without? What about using dives instead of ZB, does it only work with ZB?
