Is the old Earthbound TAS against the rules (the one that glitchily accesses the debug menu)?
glitching the game to use “cheatcodes” is different than plainly using cheatcodes

Also, byrz said in the thread for smb1 that smb1 is not hex-friendly. Same probably applies to smb2.
I went and read that topic, but all the desyncs he mentioned probably came down to having different lag, which is nothing that would worsen hex-friendliness, what makes games not hex-friendly is an RNG, and I doubt this game has one

Didn't get 56.16 Brandished. Also had a horrible aesthetic choice early in the run. No vote.
is this sarcasm? “EX9 Construction: byrz has done 54.76 (7 frames better) TAS of this stage after the movie was finished.” I don’t see why this wasn’t implemented in the movie? certainly SMB2 is a very hex-friendly game?

What's happening to this submission? It seems to be in limbo while improvements are being discussed.
well it certainly shouldn’t be published considering FractalFusion’s run is faster… I don’t know if MrWint is working on improving it, he hasn’t said anything about it I think

I ended up watching the whole run, but thanks for the explanation Patashu it was really nice, I don’t know anything about the game so I don’t know how hard that really is, but I find it annoying when people throw out the “TAS-only” word without even trying

if you’re planning on making a normal run, I advise you to make posts / post WiPs about it often, or you could end up finishing the TAS just to be told that you used the wrong strategy in a few places…

can’t you manipulate a counter hit for OHKOs like in Tekken 3?

I'd like to see an "Executes arbitrary code" TAS to make Mew appear under the truck. That would be very interesting to see.
that sounds awesome, haha couldn’t you have just beaten the game like in Mr. Wint’s TAS? it’d be a new record, then

“I have dug into system specs during machine coding for the playaround to determine that, yes, last year's pi-around is invalid (not that anyone cares).” what? why would nobody care? if it’s due to emulation errors, the run should be removed from the site

wait a second, I just noticed something in the Bugsy fight… against the Scyther, you 2HKO it without crits, doesn’t that mean that you could OHKO with a crit, considering crit is 2× damage? or does the boosted Rage attack not activate on the first turn, but only in the second, so in the first turn you can’t do as much damage as in 2 turns? edit: actually you do the same to the Zubat in the rival fight right after… 2HKO with no crit Scratch instead of 1HKO with crit, why is that?

can you teach me how to watch over alternate universes so I can see how boring it would really be for myself?

who are you to say that there would’ve been nothing? you can see into alternate universes? I still wonder whether a stream left to itself in complete anarchy mode could’ve beaten the game

I would’ve liked to see this to be honest the experiment has failed already, it’s just that it didn’t fail in a dramatic way because it keeps going having discarded its original purpose
