just found out about this and the TAS looked interesting to me (I never played the game), though I felt like there wasn’t enough luck manipulation… I think this game is the first I see TAS missing hits on enemies

I’ll probably be making a Time Survival TAS soon, and I’ll have to start from SRAM… is there anyone who can create a movie of getting Jugger and Sami to lvl10 so the SRAM is proven and can be accepted for the TAS?

you sure you mean the 3rd one?
the 3rd one is a good representation of what this movie does to improve on the old one… but it’s also spoilery
I’m not sure which I’d choose

the comments on the nico vid are hilarious XD
it’s possible that the movie can be improved by 2 frames btw… it’s something I noticed while watching the encode, MKDasher is working on implementing it
edit: he implemented it, but now we’re experiencing desynchs :S

you could’ve jumped up to avoid his attack, that’s why I said attacking less (since you need time to avoid) but you’d start re-attacking earlier (since you’re closer to his stopping position)

I’m watching Act 2 and… it seems like you slightly slow down when you land from a jump, so wouldn’t it be faster to land on the exact loading spot for the next area instead of before it? why is that not possible? or does it actually not slow you down?
so far it’s kind of boring, doesn’t look like a good game to TAS but I’ve never played it so I can’t appreciate it as much
edit: in the 2nd boss fight, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxmpvI5kBN4&feature=bf_next&list=PL8A3E2E6F74E3E286&lf=plpp_video at 6:50, is it slower to stay on its right side (and I guess attacking less) so that you’re closer to him after he does the attack? I think you’d attack less but you’d start re-attacking earlier…

btw, for Captain Jelly there’s some sort of glitch(?) where Burst does ×2 damage for apparently no reason, it’s how Cruizer got his TA record… would that be helpful for a TAS?
he had a video but it seems like it’s lost now, he simply went from right to left while in Burst and released a charge next to the boss that just fell down
edit: he found it and is gonna upload it

although he says we, I’ve only found one improvement lately… I’d like to be more involved in the finishing touches but I’ve been busy with other games :/

I thought of making a single topic for all of the ASB freeware games (Green Island, Rotate Gear, Search Light, etc.)
here’s a single level TAS I just made for Search Light: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRRz51fLJ5k
and I guess I can relink the test I made back with r4, a single level in Rotate Gear http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCgPUBCl_Uc

where can I find an older version of Hourglass…? I’ve deleted mine when I downloaded r81
They're all still on the downloads list.

I’ve tried downloading a clean RG 1.05 but that didn’t help either
I'm noticing some weird problems with it now. It runs fine from the directory I normally work from, but if I move Hourglass to a different directory, RotateGear freezes on startup. I'll try debugging it... hopefully it's related to the problem you're having.
I downloaded r35 and both Rotate Gear 1.05 and Search Light 1.02 work correctly, in r81 Rotate Gear doesn’t understand in-game input, and with Search Light it understands the arrow keys for movement, but not Z for selecting
edit: ah right, for Green Island r81 just says that the game crashes when opening it, while with r35 it works fine
did you ever understand why that was? I’ll just be using r35 for ASB games I guess (haven’t tested if other newer releases work with them)

am I the only one with his ears bleeding? I don’t remember the game was supposed to sound like this…
anyway, the run was great except for a few things in boss fights which didn’t look optimal, but what do I know
not sure how a 2nd playthrough would look but the current way it ends doesn’t feel much like an ending… voting yes anyway

I'm in favor of "manipulates memory". The definition of 'corrupts' carries a strong implication of negativity associated with it; when I hear about data being corrupted, it brings more to mind the runs that corrupt save data, such as Pokémon Yellow or Chrono Trigger, which cause very serious damage to the game's structure to accomplish its goals.
In contrast, the definition of 'manipulates' carries an implication of skillful alteration, which sounds a lot more TAS-y and more accurate to what's happening in this run.
