I don't know the rule for this, but you probably don't have to worry in this case, since your run has already been nominated 3 times, and so it will probably make it to the voting stage.
I wasn’t worried about that, just curious about the ruling even if it’s allowed I wouldn’t nominate it as I feel it’s wrong

That said, I don't see why we can't just include the longer version as an alternate. Even just as a link to a Youtube video in the description: "for those who like closure, this version spends an extra 3 frames to display part of the credits sequence".
I like this idea

I don’t feel like nominating anything, but I must ask a question: are authors allowed to nominate their own submission? because I don’t see any ruling about it

holy shit, they BLJ’d the whole thing! XD amazing :) did the kick into the pipe lose time? if not that’s a nice new thing never used before O_o edit: watching again it seems like it loses time, so it was just a style thing that will be removed?

Really what define "RAM corruption"? I seriously do not consider this to be "RAM corruption". Most glitches in SMW involve manipulating RAM on some level, so where do you draw the line? Code can execute in RAM and does so in SMW every frame($7F8000 in RAM is the OAM clear routine that sets sprites off screen), so that is a poor argument as well. It is additionally unfair to call this a glitched run and a "regular" any% non-glitched. All SMW TASes I am aware of abuse glitches, even if it is simply using alternating frames to gain extra speed. And I am pretty sure the definition of a glitch is malfunction, which this certainly is.
we’ve already been through the definition of a “glitched” branch name, don’t bring that stuff back up… uses glitches =/= glitched

totally got me by surprise, but I’ve finally saved those 2 frames I’ve been going for in the basement pillars room! :D the key was redoing the swimming, I thought of trying to go straighter to jump out of the water 2 frames earlier, but even with my redoing I still jumped out on the same frame, I was some X pixels ahead of the old WIP but in a far more left position, I kept tying the old WIP until somehow I saw Yoshi enter the door 2 frames earlier! :D I still wonder whether that jump can be done 2 frames earlier, and whether my swimming technique is the best… http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/634517045/newtrick.dsm I might try more, going for the early jump and testing other swimming techniques to see if there’s a better one edit: couldn’t find any better swimming technique edit2: saving 4 frames with Mario with the new direction reset glitch, but we’re not satisfied and I have a new idea which might save more, if it doesn’t work we’ll try to save 6 and be happy with that I think edit3: we’re losing 4 frames with the new idea, but we haven’t done it properly yet… and it looks cooler so I want to make it save

since David is hard to find lately, I’ll post here I found a new… glitch, I suppose? with the game’s physics, and saved 2 frames in the basement room with the 2 pillars http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/709410531/newtrick.dsm it might be possible to save 2 more, and it should save 2 more with Mario aswell but I don’t know how to hex it together with the old WIP basically… midjump, if your speed is 0, the direction of movement is reset, and the speed value will become positive, this means that you can take pretty funny directions midjumps but also that you can keep forward momentum when landing from a backwards jump (as I do to save those 2 frames) a nice bonus to this is that speed limits are broken seemingly, as I do in that WIP with 100k+ speed from a SJ which normally caps at 63k (at least with Yoshi) vid that might show it better, because I suck at explaining: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fQV3uwSKJs

The submission text wrote:
There is a very tight passage Kirby can move into, at the bottom of the screen. By moving back into the water - from the side - he can do the glitch. ... The glitch happens if you transform into stone kirby at the same time you are underwater. This can only happen when moving into a body of water from below or from the side. The glitch thereupon crashes the game or makes it go to the credits sequence, rarely it can warp you to random places.
I read that, but I mean an explanation of why it happens, not how

I didn't find it funny. I found it a stupid way to end the game/movie.
I don’t think as bad as you, but still alike I like the concept, but it didn’t entertain me much if it was a proper ending like say, Pokémon Yellow, I would’ve liked it more

The game mode is set to that of when the "THE END" screen comes up in the original credits sequence. It is the actual end.
I don’t even know what that means, which is why I abstained from voting I’ll ask a question: if the game were normally saved once beaten, would this run have a “game completed” save file? if so I guess I could vote yes or at least meh

The term "glitched" merely implies the usage of glitches (or bugs, depending on where you draw a distinction between the two), regardless of whether or not they are used to significantly twist the game.
Actually, I think it does that well. "Glitched" as in, the entire game has been glitched beyond comprehension; not "Uses glitches" which most runs do.
I agree with everything DarkKobold said using RAM corruption and such to beat a game isn’t the norm, therefore should have a special category

I vote no. First off, props for the major glitching. Very nice technical achievement. But when you look at the run (not knowing exactly what's going behind the scenes at the time), you see Mario summoning fish, jumping around and doing some other things seemingly randomly as if it's a freerun, until suddenly a "THE END" screen appears. The music doesn't even change to accomodate the fact. Yes, that is strictly by definition an ending and therefore finishing the game. But I don't see doing seemingly random things until a "the end" screen appears as an acceptable or presentable way to get to the ending. At least take those 3 frames and get to the credits, that would already make it much more watchable. I currently don't see it as an acceptable way to finish the game/end the movie. Now, I'm not going to argue this further. If you don't like my vote, ignore it. I see it already has 40 yes votes (and no mehs/nos) so the single no vote won't matter much anyway.
I kind of feel the same. this ending doesn’t feel like an ending, it just makes me go “what?” after having watched mostly boring movements, if it was possible to do this without wasting any movement then maybe I’d find it entertaining, but like this it just feels like a cheap way to summon a screen that’s supposed to make you think you beat the game I haven’t seen the ending with those 3 frames added in, but if I had maybe I’d support that version abstaining from voting

amaurea speaks the truth destroying the game to beat it quickly is much different to running through it as fast as possible and they should be 2 different categories, this run does the latter, creditless does the first

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1651784192/synched.dsm we’ve implemented a new strategy by a YT commenter, which is killing ourselves off while taking Mario’s key, other than that David TAS’d up to BitFS entry but the bunny, glitch and swimming were all bad so we’re not gonna keep them, but we also have no idea on how to manipulate that bunny…

hmm, I either missed that or thought it was part of the joke… now I wonder if Turska thinks I’m a girl xD and no worries, a lot of people make that mistake when they hear my name, I was curious because I haven’t used my real name much in here (I think only in that submission)
