I just gave my opinion, it’s not like I voted “no” in the poll; there’s a rule that says you have to watch the full movie before voting (or at least that’s what I think). Maybe I’ll try to watch more of it later when I get the time.

Idk about this. Only watched a little and got bored. It almost looks like a speedrun, you just go in, do a slightly different combo each time to stun the opponent, then a few more hits to kill. The meaty Sonic Boom on wake up also seems overused and not very special…

You could try to find a RAM address that has a specific value on every input frame.
That seems like a very hacky solution, though…

BizHawk is shit at handling lag and 30fps games.

That wouldn't work because it would mess up all the RNG later in the run unfortunately, so I would have to redo everything.
Unless the RNG has reset points. Is it known whether or not the RNG ever gets re-seeded to predetermined values during the run? Mega Man ZX does it at every loading point, which makes it extremely hex-edit friendly. Tenchu: Stealth Assassins does it between levels.

This link leads to the first post of this which is unnecessary because you can just click on the name of the topic to start at the top.
InfamousKnight very likely created a separate topic when he posted and a mod just merged them together.

I can't find any Auto-Holds under Hotkey Config. I can set keys for "Turbo" but that just seems to rapidly press/release the given key.
Config → Hotkey Config and it’s there on the bottom-right. The window should already default to “Main”, but if it doesn’t, select Main from the drop-down menu.

Protectos re-fight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyvAOSULvDk Strategy is pretty much the same as the published TAS, but for some reason Moth/Rolan missed the double hit with the orb and ended up doing an extra attack to the boss. My vid is a slight variation for RTA and it shows that the extra attack is unnecessary. Zinfogel also tested going left after defeating Leganchor, and it seems faster: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbvQ_dEnN-g

What? They do. I was talking about the castle door and the characters’ room’s door. But I get what you meant now.

I believe that, the reason you have to catch those specific rabbits (one for whichever character you're using) is that they occupy the same area of memory as that one rabbit for Luigi.
That sounds pretty weird… I’ll try looking into it when I can. You say that one Luigi rabbit doesn’t require you going through loading zones, do you mean from when you switch characters? There are 2 loading zones going from the outside to that white rabbit.

For those intending to skip opening the front door in a run with this glitch: You need to talk to Lakitu at the front door (and get that key-icon to show up on your minimap). For some reason, if you never talk to Lakitu there, the one Luigi rabbit by the Mario painting never shows up, at all.
That sucks.

That hitbox stuff looks really useful. Do you have a tutorial on how to make it? How do you even find the hitbox data? I tried one time in Mega Man ZX and it didn’t go too well.

That’s cool. But how are the various rabbits you have to catch determined? And why do you need Luigi for the white rabbit? Btw those various rooms you say are already loaded, I wouldn’t say they are. Only the floors/walls/ceilings are loaded, but the NPCs and textures aren’t until you touch the door to the room IIRC.

Welcome. The site has a bunch of articles which should help you with making a TAS. Be warned: TASing takes a lot of patience and time (for good TASes, at least).

@ZodaStone: I’m not sure I understand what yellow rabbit you’re talking about. A video would be nice. Your game’s version should be written on the catridge, but it’s probably unintelligible so you’ll have to look it up on Google or something.

That is something that emulation accuracy can affect, hence the original question
I’m not really well-versed in emulation differences but isn’t the main thing lag differences rather than gameplay frames? I don’t think lag would affect the RNG.

Well, I managed to fix the Slog in the Secret area just by rolling at a different frame so maybe the RNG is different compared to PCSX. I'm sure there will be other hurdles I'll come across, so I just need to try the next movement at different frames to get a perfect RNG.
Ah, you’re trying to port a TAS from PCSX to BizHawk? You must’ve done something wrong if the RNG desynced… maybe you lost or gained a frame somewhere?

Ah, OK. No, something like RNG should be simple enough that all emulators get it right. I doubt there are any RNG differences between emulators.

If you think that we're WRONG about our opinions on Warp's views, talk about it. That's the point of a discussion, after all.
Nobody’s opinion is wrong. It’s how you and some others expressed them that was wrong. I didn’t have much to say about this discussion except for the fact that some people brush Warp’s concern with “well that’s what categories are for, duh”. Guess what? Speedrunners tend to favor categories that go fast, saying “watch the categories you like” is completely missing Warp’s point, and completely misunderstanding how speedruns/speedrunners work. I don’t really want to discuss this further, though.

You people seem incapable of having a civile discussion with him, and instead just attack his opinion at every turn. Yes, you just hate him. Not agreeing with a viewpoint doesn’t mean you attack the other person’s viewpoint when all he’s trying to do is to have a conversation.

Can accurate emulation cause the RNG to behave different? I can get the slog to behave when hoisting up a ledge on a later frame with just a stop and turn.
What does that even mean? If you’re changing your movement of course the RNG is going to change… what’s emulation got to do with anything? I think you may have no idea what an RNG is. It’s called a “random number generator”, but in truth it’s only pseudo-random. All it is is a mathematical formula that takes some specific inputs to spit out a number, then the game is programmed to interpret the number and create an outcome from it. If the RNG’s only input is your character’s movement, then unless you move differently the randomness is never going to change.

In the YT encode’s description, it says “independent Japanese studio [erka:es].”. Might want to fix that bug… Edit: Oh man the forum fixes it and I don’t know how to make it show up as broken, lol. The description also mentions that the game takes inspiration from Mega Man, but there are traces of Castlevania as well.
