I hoped I had found a time saver :( edit: tested on emulator and it's actually even slower, with an airdash you can't open the door, you have to move to the door's direction and your speed drops to walking speed which makes you lose a few frames edit2: this is super weird, you don't actually retain top speed, you just retain the shadow trail without having a boost O_o but if you walk it disappears edit3: correction: it's possible to open the door with an airdash, and it makes it ultimately equal to ground dash, but you need perfect Y subpixel position which is somewhere between 747 and 748 (for a normally placed door, some are higher I think) and to think I got that on DS first try… lol shadows glitch vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4e3sFkORsI

isn't the dash's speed progressive? I mean, you don't instantly hit top speed when dashing (I think?) so keeping it while going through the door would be faster

I was just continuing my hard mode save on DS (still have to finish it) and found out you can double hit really quickly with HX's jump slash (not airdash slash), was that known and if not would it have been useful? you can double hit by pressing the opposing direction you're facing after the slash (maybe with quick left-right even more hits are possible?) edit: wtf I just did it without moving the opposing direction O_o looks to me like, the airslash is in itself a 2-hit combo, upper part and lower part, if you have an object above you and start the slash when you're below it then still gain height to be adjacent to it it double hits, first the upper then the lower part of the slash edit2: another thing (still testing on DS) it seems like doors reset your speed to walking speed if you enter them with a ground dash, but if you do an airdash (HX) it looks like your dash speed is kept and you can even re-airdash after passing the door, was this abused?

Not so sure about this one, unless you see something specific. I manually timed it and it's only a second off of my world record time trial for this level. The slower areas are only the spots where having more weapons would be slightly faster. In fact, the first screen is actually 2 frames faster thanks to new tactic that jumps off the last ice block for extra height.
it's just that all the ice blocks destruction looks slow, not very TAS-like at 0:58 if you called Rush sooner it would've landed on the floor above?

once, I asked if it was bad my Mario vs DK2 TAS was using the EU ROM, and encoders on IRC told me that it was fine because it was a handheld, and it didn't have the PAL/NTSC issue (IIRC) what was that about?

thanks for quoting that scrimpeh, I missed it run looked good, but I noticed you walk a few times during the sandstorm, jumping isn't always faster? also that sounds awesome about Chill Man, abuse it as much as possible, looking for ward to it

if you don't know you can backup the savestates by simply moving them to a different folder, that gives you way to infinite savestates, very useful and what's your idea? wouldn't hurt to share with others

^I think you could've used the climbing wheel weapon thing more does Mega Man get instant top speed when pressing right while falling? because I see you press right against walls, but if it doesn't bring you istantly at top speed pressing right just at the right time would be faster

I'm just saying there could be a way to manipulate the RNG that we don't know yet, often when things are purposefully slowed down, new discoveries are made that make those slow downs go away

jesus, you seriously love TASing a lot of the strategy looked like it made no sense, but that's probably me not understanding it on the first watch, the run was entertaining enough and it's an improvement so I vote yes

^I've tried the same thing in Time Attack using Carrie, but it didn't seem to work cool that it works with 2P, it gains so little height and it takes so much time that I don't think it will be faster though… maybe with TAS you could somehow chain in some jumps, gaining a lot more height?
