You can skip the dialogue with the Koopa Troopa on the ship. (The one that moves out of your way when you talk to him.) Tis in the current M&L speedrun over at SDA. In the first ship fight, I'm sure it would be quicker to have the Mario bros. concentrate on killing one goomba. That way, both goombas won't attack. Less frames and all that. Getting hit in the border jump mini-game would save you time. It wouldn't look at good, but it's quicker. Whether you want to take the "damage" is up to you.

The only thing I don't like in this video is that you use Shang Tsung's soulstealer fatality. Again. :( IIRC, his second one was much cooler. Other than that, I liked most aspects of this movie more than the other. Voted yes.

Does this work with any other bosses?

What's funny is that I was thinking that PSII deserved a run a few days ago. Here's hoping that you don't drop either run.

Shouldn't this be moved to another topic? This is the GBA SMW topic after all. ;>_> Btw, I wouldn't mind of seeing a run of either game that collected all coins... though, I think that SMA would be more interesting to watch.

Someone at one of the forums I used to actively goto posted a link of Morimoto's SMB3 run. I saw that and the RM2 run, and the discussion that followed that. Shortly after, I decided to see if there was any more awesome to be found. Stumbled upon Arc's site, then onto here, where I learned they were tool-assisted (which didn't bother me any — after all, it takes quite a bit of time and effort to achieve "perfection"). Some months later, I decided to register on the forums, and ended up sticking around. (I think this was around the time when that Super Metroid TAS was submitted to SDA, and everyone was all ":0 wtf cheatingz!!?!") Although, as you can see, I haven't done much since.

Really now. :0 Well if there's only that little of a time difference, then I'd also vote PAL.

(U) [!] was decided because the run is quite a bit shorter than if the (E) [!] rom was used — according to Gunty, by at least thirty minutes.

I wasn't interested in generating discussion about a TAS of this game, as I'm not too interested in that myself. These boards can be used for other things aside from TAS talk, you know. :P (It's uncommon, but it's possbile. ;>_>)

I take it that pirate_sephiroth (and everyone else) stopped working on this run? :\

Looks like lipucd took off and dropped the run. Too bad too, because this game has potential. Yanno, despite the huge lag in some areas.

Is it possible to kill the enemies that you let go (a few seconds before the movie stops)? Other than that, I've got no complaints. But then again, I also don't have that much experience in this game. :P

While taking a random trip to Romhacking.net, I stumbled across these two hacks of PSIV. (As if the original game isn't already challenging enough.) I haven't played these yet, and I probably won't for a while; I just posted this to inform the uninformed, and possibly generate some discussion. Hell Mode Mod Purgatory Mode Mod Have fun.

There's nothing concrete on what games you choose as a TAS, but if it's incredibly monotonous and has a lot of words — and doesn't have the advantage of "severe luck manipulation" or "using insane strategies" on its side, then there's an extremely high chance that it's not good for a TAS. Also, you might wish to cancel this submission yourself instead of waiting for someone else to reject, because unless the sky opens up and the heavens decree for this to be published, it's not making it on the main site. (You might wish to ask someone else how to do that though; I'm not a TASer.) And for the record, I voted no.

I always wondered whether a 'Kirby-Nightmare in Dreamland' TAS would be accepted, because there is already the older version 'Kirby's Adventure'.
Sure it would. But only if you're using SRAM to play as Meta Knight.

I'm tempted to vote no on this just on concept. Seriously. This game puts me to sleep while playing it; I don't think I'll be able to make it through a TAS. Especially considering the battle system, and the fifteen minute long cutscenes that happen before each one.

Aww. I was hoping this would be that horrible DBZ RPG. I'd watch that, just to see it get demolished.
I'd watch that just to gawk at the luck manipulation involved. Manipulating each card into exactly what you want could be a feat within itself (if it's at all possible), but what would be more impressive is dodging random battle. I've played and beaten the game, and I swear that sometimes they throw a random battle at you after moving one square. Several times in a row. (We're talking "counting on more than one hand" here.) Made me wanna drizzle rage dressing on countries next door until no one's salad was safe.

I seriously doubt that anyone will care about a no-death run in a shooter game, as long as it doesn't send the player back to a checkpoint (and this game doesn't, so...) I say go for the suicide-quick kill.

Muh. Ah well. Long story short, I ended up stopping when I had to fight Misuzu again. She owns me but good. Haven't played Shoudai yet, but I will eventually.

Shin Nekketsu Kouha: Kunio-tachi no Banka More or less the sequel to Kunio's first game. Found out that Easy mode only lets you go so far through the game, and so I tried to beat the game on Normal for the first time. Emphasis on "tried". Needs Aeon Genesis' English patch, otherwise it'll desync. Kinda important if you wanna know what's going on, because this game actually has a plot. *gaspshock!*

I just find out about this game. It's pretty awesome, even if it's currently going Ikaruga on me. (That includes the fact that the first boss alone feels like something pulled out of a bullet hell game.) I also found out that once you beat the game, if you soft reset, you get a completely new set of levels and bosses. Edit: Also, there's another bit of info that I pulled from elsewhere: "You can change the speed of your ship by hitting the Select button, which was a common feature in the 16-bit days, but practically unheard of for the Famicom."

This run made me laugh in certain places. With that and the various improvements, I gave it a yes vote.

Wow, that was surprisingly awesome. Looking forward to further progress, and that's something that I thought I would never say about this game.

Though, wasn't one published movie played on a bad dump? I also don't see how a bad dump is like a hack, but whatever. This is unrelated to the current subject at hand. The movie itself I have no comment on.

Just remember... The NES version of Final Fantasy was used and accepted even though the GBA version gave you the ability to run.
The NES and GBA versions of Final Fantasy also have major differences between the two. For one, the Bane Sword (or whatever it's called in the GBA translation) doesn't work on the final bosses anymore, and you can get items on the ship in the GBA version to make your life much easier, but it's apparently hell to manipulate, which is why it's been dropped by those that have worked on it. I'm sure there are other differences, but I don't feel like listing all of them.
