Yes, it's a broken ROM, as mentioned several times before. The level bit is simply not set in RAM ahead of time as that SMB ROM was extracted from a pirate cart that probably had a front-end which initialized the RAM correctly. It's actually mentioned in FCEUltra's documentation, oddly enough.

Another possible way of getting 15 missiles would be to use the 'door jump' trick to enter Kraid's lair early, without bombs, then go to the first door on the right and collect the missile pack there. After that exit and get the missile pack near Norfair, collect the bombs, then bomb jump to the upper corridor of Brinstar and collect a third missile pack on the way back. Whether this will be faster or slower than the current route or the route mentioned in the post above is yet to be determined, however.

That's the code for the standard Game Boy. I don't know what the individual letters stand for though

Devil May Cry 3 is a prequel. As was Yoshi's Island, "Super Mario World 2."

Heh, I remember way back then. Enter a foggy or misty area and the masses would panic as there was nothing to be seen!

For a run such as this, you may want to contact the webmaster of SDA, the Speed Demos Archive. They accept runs for nearly all games. http://planetquake.com/sda/other/ Check it out.

You'd have to complete the game to even get to the second area, since it shoots you in to the middle of Orangutan Gang. I believe this glitch also works between levels 1 and 2 of the first area. It should send you to a different barrel cannon near where the other one warps you. I definitely know it was before the one mentioned above.

If there is a way to convert .vmv to .fmv, can someone please redirect me to the instructions?, it would be good to convert my old movies and send them to the site.
http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=210 Check out that topic. It has the code for converting the filetypes.

What route did you take to get the 368 on Donut Plains 1?

I stumbled upon this site months before I even heard of this one. It's nice to see that it's still being updated.

Well, there's 60 frames in a second, and each individual frame can have a speficic keypress associated with it. The movie author may press left one frame, and right the next frame, alternating between the two. Since a single frame goes by so fast, you see the 'wobbling' effect happen.

I do frame-by-frame controlling sometimes - mostly when using the wall-abuse tricks in SMB or Rockman. I set the emulator to 5% speed (which equals to 3 fps) and literally control it frame by frame. I may even pause after every frame just so that I have enough time to switch keys. Those glitches happen so fast that a lot of things happen in a few frames. When you hit the wall, the wall rejects you exactly 1 frame later. You have to hit the exactly right frame to be able to do something purposeful.
Don't forget when entering passwords at nearly the speed of light!

The US (and all subsequently released) versions of SMB3 are slightly faster than the Japanese version, as there is no opening transition for each stage. It saves about a second or two per level this way.

It was the Sega CD version that had the extra level.

Yeah, I was referring to Alucard. A Richter (or possibly Maria) run could be done in about 10 minutes.

There was a WIP of a legitimate run for this game. Unfortuantely, it hasn't been worked on for some time, and I've also lost the link to the current progress movie.
