It depends on which angle you look at the universe. In some ways, the universe is comparatively small, and in others it is comparatively large. Same for every other existing object in my opinion.

I think the question is very simple and kind of speaks for itself, so it won´t need too much explaining. Is there a way to TAS on a Linux computer and if so how?

Well, from now on, I´m going to try my very best to be as civilized here as possible. Maybe that would make people like me more, except a few certain specific people who will hate me forever... )=

No. I don´t remember anything. I´m not going to deny the honest truth, but I really don´t remember. I´m not saying I didn´t write anything, but rather I forgot I ever wrote anything. Just tell me what I wrote, and I´ll explain myself.

I know that I´ve made lots of weird posts lately, but I think this will be my last one. I need help getting my reputation in this community to a better state. I have said and done some weird, awkward, immature things in the past, and I feel like I still do, and SOME people here (not all obviously but SOME) think that I´m just an idiot who is only here to be immature and wreck up this community. Today I was watching HappyLee´s Super Mario Bros. 500 Points TAS and I was going to make a comment but I realized that the owner of the video blocked me for no reason. I LITERALLY didn´t do anything to him, so wtf was that about I just don´t understand? I understand that I enjoy to do what I call trolling, and things similar to this, but I actually do want to contribute to this community. I have TASes planned. I just can´t get them done right now very quickly at all because of my family situations. I really really want to make a difference. I can´t come to understand why I have no friends. I´m actually a very nice person if you get to know me, and this isn´t just coming from me; you can ask some other people I talk to. It´s just that I get carried away sometimes with my trolling. I just want to make a joke sometimes. It´s not like I´m harming anyone, is it? I don´t even make troll accounts on this forum BECAUSE I AM TAKING IT SERIOUSLY, that´s the whole point of this post. If this were like some random car forum that I didn´t care about I would troll it to death, but I actually give a damn about the community and want to make a difference. I´ve been trying really hard not to get myself banned. My intentions are good. I just wish I could start my life all over again as a completely new person, and not just because of the TAS community but for tons of other reasons. I´m not going to go into any of that, but still, I am seen as immature and selfish in this community for mistakes I´ve made in the past. Guys, I just want to help, here. I don´t know how else to word this. Do any of you have suggestions for me to get a better reputation here and to prove my point across to people? I have good intentions, and no matter what SonicPacker, Nahoc, RachelB, or anyone else thinks, it´s true. I just want to make a good submission of a game that has never been TASed before. I have a list in my head of games I want to TAS, and I have little fantasy plans in my head of the TASes themselves as well and what people are to say about them. I just hope these can come true, or at least some of them. So any suggestions? Comments? Advice? In other words, just answer this one question. What have you observed about me and what do you think I need to change? I´d like to know, because I don´t want to look like a fool anymore.

Hello! I have decided to make an any%/100% TAS of the PS2 game Transformers Armada: Prelude to Energon (or also known as just Transformers or Transformers Armada) whenever the PS2 emulator's bugs are fixed. You guys have probably never heard of this game, unfortunately, for it is a very dead game that seems to be extremely ignored especially now. I've been playing this game since it came out, and I've finally considered making a TAS and a speedrun of the game as well. Here is the Wikipedia page of this game, so you guys can check out the basic information about this killed game. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transformers_(2004_video_game) So, the game is a 3-dimensional 1 player shooting game that is rated T for Teen by the ESRB. As for the story, I will just quote Wikipedia: "The game diverges from the anime and comic in terms of storyline. In the opening sequence Megatron, in a final assault against the Autobot Headquarters on Cybertron, surprises Optimus Prime with his Decepticlones, a massive powerful drone army. With numbers on his side, Megatron is able to overcome the resistance and fight Optimus Prime one-on-one. Megatron is about to kill Optimus Prime, and in an homage to the original movie, he says: "I would have waited an eternity for this. It's over, Prime". When a Mini-Con beacon activates on Earth. Megatron, well-aware of what this means, heads to Earth to claim the Mini-Cons. The Autobots Optimus Prime, Red Alert, and Hot Shot arrive on Earth as well to rescue the Mini-Cons, knowing that their combined power is the only way to overcome Megatron's new army." As for tricks and stuff, I don't feel like rewriting all that shit right now, for it's 2:00 AM right now, so here's a topic with a lot of info on tricks and glitches on SpeedDemosArchive: https://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/ps2_transformers_armada_prelude_to_energon.html The game will be incredibly hard to TAS I imagine because of all the angling, speed control, MiniCon selection, and obstacles, and more 3 dimensional annoyingness. You know what I mean. <,< Although with TASing this game, I think the game can be brought to be MUCH more entertaining than even a speedrun could be done in, because of again, the angling, correct jumping, glitches done in a superhuman way, and blah blah blah. I may even find other glitches that are only possible using TAS. If the PS2 emulator bugs are fixed, I would like to know so I can get started on this project. It will be hard, but it will be a lot of fun. I may get some help from someone if anyone is interested. I can imagine it now: Categories: (for 100%) 100% completion Loses health to save time Uses deaths to save time Heavy glitch abuse Category: Action Category: Shooting God, I can't wait until the day comes when it's submitted. I know it's not a well known game, but I guarantee that pushing this game to its utmost limits will be exceedingly entertaining whether or not you have ever even played the game once. I would like to know what you guys think of this idea. I am very excited and hope it can be done soon. :D

That was the wisest words you've ever said. what an idiot
This is the point of trolling is to make yourself look an idiot! Although, my point is, this TAS is HORRIBLE for an Adventures in the Magic Kingdom TAS. It is a disgrace to all TASes because there are NON-TAS SPEEDRUNS that are MUCH faster than this. Isn't the point of TASing to have "superhuman skills"? Well I don't see where the "superhuman skills" are. He misses frames several times, and it is extremely obvious in some parts. Also, the ghost level was just downright horrible. Callmewoof might as well have just done a speedrun of this game to get a time like this, and not even that. Even mere SPEEDRUNS have been 15 SECONDS better than this; no huge optimization or glitches or anything. This TAS is what I would call a complete fail! I wouldn't be surprised if this person wasn't older than 11 when he/she made this.

GBA:SNES: The Graphics on the SNES are FAR superior than the GBA Version. O.o But okay. Just some offtopic. I think it's nice to see a TAS because of the few differences they have AND because of the pacific World.
both have awful graphics.
Now you have both convinced me that quality is a matter of opinion.

LOL, I am not a transsexual OR a transgender. For your information, I said this: "So, I've been MESSING WITH PEOPLE on both Omegle and ChatRoulette telling them I am a female..." I just think it is rather funny too see what everyone on both these websites have to say when I pretend to be the only kind of person they want to talk to AND be a troll at the same time. XD

Hey there, guys! So, I'm trying to find a decent Skype voice changer that will allow me to convert my voice into something that sounds somewhat similar to a female around my age. So, I've been messing with people on both Omegle and ChatRoulette telling them I am a female (please don't judge lol), with basically the same traits as I do except in a more feminine manner. As I do this, I tell them that I don't have a cam OR a mic, which usually makes them never talk to me again because they assume that I am lying, so finally I got pissed off and tried to look for Skype voice changers that allowed me to fake this. I had one I used like a year ago called Clownfish, so I downloaded IT again but I can't even believe how ridiculously fake it sounds. It seriously sounds like a fucking ALIEN when I'm talking and I ask myself "How on Earth does this even RELATE to the female voice?"! I also downloaded another voice changer, and I played with it for HOURS and nothing it did was even close to a young female's voice, or for that matter a female's voice at all. Still the damn alien thing. And it's funny because at one point it sounded decent for like 20 seconds or something, except for the whole echo thing which is annoying because that kind of gives you away. If it weren't for the echo, I think it would've passed, but unfortunately, I couldn't get rid of the alien-like noise OR the echo at all, so even with this, which you could supposedly modify the voice with, didn't work. I downloaded another voice changer, and I don't even know how that would've went, because it costed money and gave me a fucking 30 SECOND TRIAL! Now I asked myself "WHAT IN MOTHER FUCKING HELL AM I GOING TO DO WITH A VOICE CHANGER IN 30 SECONDS???!?!?!?!?!!?"! And I can't really find anymore and I don't want to try, it is utterly pissing me off. But I was wondering if you guys know any FREE (COMPLETELY FREE, NO TRIALS NO NOTHING), and DECENT (CAN ACTUALLY AT LEAST SOMEWHAT PASS AS A FEMALE VOICE) Skype voice changers, then that would be great. Thanks.

Okay, I need help! I am wanting to make this TAS as perfect as possible, but I am stuck on a part, and need one of you guys' help. http://imgur.com/I5Gpoe1 I am stuck at THIS ANNOYING ASS BRIDGE! As I am trying to make this TAS frame perfect, let me explain something. If you swim along a slanted wall on the map, ALTHOUGH you will go SLIGHTLY slower, even if you slide on it as much as 1 frame. You MUST avoid it as much as possible. Now, I need help getting under this bridge without going too far to the left because I will slide on the wall, AND not going too far to the RIGHT either because that would make my turn slower. Now, I know that this is slight and if I let this one slide that only a few frames would be wasted, but I REALLY WANT TO MAKE SOMETHING REALLY GOOD, and I was doing good so far. See the problem is I can't see under that damn bridge, and I've tried seeing what's going on under there, like if the screen turns or if Kiddy Kong changes position, but after moving with up and right at the same time and going back to up, the screen camera seems to slightly move for a couple frames for NO REASON AT ALL, which confuses the hell out of me when I'm trying to do this. If someone could help me, that would be great! Thank you!

Hey, guys! I have decided to TAS a game called Donkey Kong Country 3 for the GBA! My TAS is an any% TAS for now! And if I may ask, please do not move this post to a Donkey Kong Country 3 SNES thread, because I am here to specifically discuss THIS version. So, this game is basically a remake of the SNES game Donkey Kong Country 3 on the console GBA remade in 1996. Here is a list of differences between the two games: GBA: -In this game, you cannot while in midair jumping put each other on top of your head. -There is an entire extra WORLD called Pacifica, and this is a world you have to beat in order to beat the game. -Has much better graphics. -In the GBA version the maps are more close-up. -The level "Springin' Spiders" comes before "Barrel Shield Bust-Up" in sequence. -You are not automatically controlled on the first part of the menu AND you are not required to go to Wrinkly's. -When you first go into one of the crystal caves, Cranky comes in and explains some shit to you. -Menu screen is COMPLETELY different. -When you defeat a coin guy with a shield and a pot on his head, it collects the coin automatically after defeated. -Both games have completely different music. -When you attack with Dixie, it is not faster than regular running. SNES: -The level "Barrel Shield Bust-Up" comes before "Springin' Spiders" in sequence. -Has much worse graphics. -Maps of the levels you select are much wider. Also, not to mention, the GBA game has COMPLETELY different music from the SNES version. -You are forced to go to Wrinkly's house at the beginning of the game due to an automatic controlling. -The menu screen is COMPLETELY different. -When you defeat a coin guy with a shield and a pot on his head, you have to actually go up to the coin and touch it before you collect it. -Both games have completely different music. -When you attack with Dixie, it IS faster than regular running. Now, as for TASing the game, unlike the SNES version, the characters are not as able to manipulate speed, as you see in the SNES version BOTH the characters go absolutely nuts with their speed all the time. It seems more slidey than in the GBA version, where moves are simple and very technical, a roll is a roll, a jump is a jump, running is running, there is no crazy mumbo jumbo mixing shit happening in between. The only real thing I can think of like that is when you hit an enemy with certain timing, such as a rat or a crocodile, you go slightly faster, and if you hit multiple ones after this timing, it goes even faster. Now, it is faster to use Kiddy Kong throughout most of the game, but in certain parts, such as I suspect in "Fire-Ball Frenzy," it is more efficient to use Dixie Kong near the end, due to the shortcut with Kiddy's suicide (same as in the SNES version), and due to the fact that Dixie can go much faster across ropes. Although, this is one of the ONLY speed tricks I see that is anywhere near useful or entertaining in this game. The other one I see is that when she hits multiple enemies and goes very fast, she can continue going that fast for a much longer time than Kiddy can, but the question is, will this trick ever be used anyway in this TAS? Kiddy Kong is much more efficient due to the fact that he can use rolling constantly which is MUCH faster than much that Dixie can do. Plus, Kiddy can do the Water Skip trick, which Dixie also cannot do, AND he can make Dixie go on top of his head and throw her on top of a place, and he will follow, thus making more tricks possible, not to mention most of the Warp Barrels in the game require using this trick. As for glitches of the game, I have not found too many. I have found the following glitches yet (and I will post more if I find more): -Going through doors in the attic levels (Possibly Useful, I wonder if there is a level where I can use this...) -Going through trap doors from below them in the attic levels (Possibly Useful, but I highly doubt it, especially for any%) -Skipping the ski in both the ski levels inside tubes (definitely not useful, in fact this only makes things slower) -Now I don't remember the details, but I remember at some point in one of the mountain levels of the game (I BELIEVE it was Krevice Kreepers, but I could be wrong, since I found this 2 years ago) there is a location where you can do the trick with Kiddy Kong where Dixie jumps on his head, throw her upward toward that particular spot, push to the left where the wall was, and she won't move and will stay in her series of rolling frames until you move to the right again. (HOW THE FUCK WOULD THIS BE USEFUL?!?) Also, I have to mention that if anyone is going to TAS this game as well, I would NOT recommend the European version. Here is why. In the US version: -You can still do the door glitch mentioned above, thank God, unlike in the European version. -When you hit a flag pole, when you press the Pause key, you can exit the level as if you had already completed the level due to the way the game is programmed (I said this because I don't know if you could necessarily call this a glitch), and doing this as fast as it will be, you can COMPLETELY skip the flag pole cutscene for EVERY level in the game. But guess what you can't do in the God forsaken European version? -Plus the European version has that "ñ" symbol in the section where you type in your name, which really DOESN'T matter in the TAS one bit, BUT it just looks like an oddball to me, which makes me a bit nervous, and I don't like that... Here is my video explaining/demonstrating ALL the differences in the European/American version I have found: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeDBy-veikE As for the last thing I would like to say, I REALLY hope that when this run is submitted that it is not declined for being "a similar game to DKC3 for the SNES," because that would REALLY suck, I really really REALLY want to make this, and due to what I have said above, it's not so similar after all is it? If you're going to put it in a bad position, at LEAST put it in the vault category, I mean come on. Anyway, finally, to conclude this post which I spent almost 2 hours writing, I will definitely enjoy making this TAS, and will definitely upload Work In Processes on our YouTube channel, ColdStardust, and I hope you enjoy those, and when the final TAS comes out, I hope you guys enjoy that! :) Progress so far: I am going to Tidal Trouble.

Oh god. I can't believe I said he made "a good point," that was the most fail typo ever. I stayed up all night, so I was tired. I edited the first sentence of the post, by the way. Particularly, I've had this argument with people several times, and I run out of arguments for my side. This guy actually got me good. I made this post to try to figure out what to say in opposition that should win the argument next time this happens!

I met a guy on Omegle, and he actually said something that I was trying to argue with and failed, so I wanted to see what you guys thought. Stranger: Hey there You: hey Stranger: How are you? You: Pretty good, you? Stranger: I'm doing well, thanks Stranger: So what brings you to Omegle? You: Trying to find a friend! You: A good friend! You: Who I can share interests and stuff with! You: What about you? Stranger: I guess I'm just here to talk to someone :P You: Oh! Stranger: So, what makes you a nerd? You: I like Tool-Assisted Speedrunning! Stranger: Okay, so basically illegally downloading video games and cheating at them? You: LOL You: So you have seen them before? Stranger: I've seen my fair share You: I make them, except I have submitted none to TASVideos yet! Stranger: What games do you do runs of? You: I'm working on You: Donkey Kong Country 3 for GBA You: Pokemon Leaf Green also for GBA You: Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga for GBA You: and Adventures in the Magic Kingdom for NES Stranger: So, what kinda tools do you use? You: Emulators, Savestates, Slowdowns. You: I haven't any idea how to use programming and hex-editing to do TASing yet! Stranger: I'm fine with all of those aside from slowdowns You: Why not slowdowns? Stranger: Because save states and rewinds are like check points, it gives you another chance, but slowdown just removes so much challenge and negates the reflex and skill you need in order to actually be good at games Stranger: Any good Tool Assisted run of a game would never use Slowdowns You: Well, not true. You: Almost all the best TASes use slowdowns. You: If you don't, it's barely a TAS anymore... Stranger: Well in that case TAS is not something I'd be interested in Stranger: I watch dudes like Protonjon Stranger: These guys are actually good at games Stranger: Not only that but they provide very interesting commentary You: So you enjoy speedruns on their own? Stranger: TAS Stranger: He uses rewinds, save states and such Stranger: But if you use Slowdown it's basically because you suck You: Then you're saying the whole TAS community sucks! Stranger: That's not at all what I'm saying You: Because all of us that have common sense use slowdowns and frame advance. Stranger: I've seen quite a few without slowdown Stranger: common sense? You: Okay. Stranger: You're hiding behind that as an excuse for you lack of reflexes Stranger: If you're not fast enough to react in time to make precision jumps then just admit it You: Hold on, I will link you to the page. Stranger: Nah, I'm good You: Read this. You: http://tasvideos.org/WelcomeToTASVideos.html Stranger: Why> Stranger: *? You: It explains what a TAS is Stranger: I'm well aware of what they are You: "The movies on TASVideos are created with the help of emulators that have the capability of recording sequences of key presses — it is the key presses that are recorded, and the video and audio resulting from the emulator playing this back is what can be seen through the videos provided on the site. The emulators involved have been crafted to provide features specifically designed for optimal game play. The most common features are save states, allowing the author to return to an earlier point in the run (and thereby revert mistakes that are made), and the ability to play one frame at a time (known as frame advance), which removes the limitations of one's reflexes. Where even this isn't enough, some emulators allow for programming and 'bots' to further enhance the process. Stranger: If you use an emulator then you know what they are Stranger: Yeah, did I not just say several times over that I know what they are? Stranger: Yet you still feel blaring that at me is necessary? You: Nono, I just...want to enjoy myself. TASing is a lot of fun. Stranger: Okay, let's use this logic Stranger: If you can't make a series of jumps in Donkey Kong Country, let's say the Mine Cart level, then you don't have good enough reflexes to do it, you're simply not good enough Stranger: If you need to use slowdowns to beat it then you suck, you honestly do and that's not such a hard thing to take because those games are fucking difficult Stranger: There's no shame in being bad at them You: You don't NEED to use slowdowns to BEAT it. Any old fool could beat the level You: BUT You: the question is You: how FAST can you beat it? You: how ENTERTAINING can you beat it? Stranger: Just keep practising until you're good enough to do it rather than tarding the game down Stranger: How much SKILL do you have? Stranger: Not very much if you use slowdowns You: People speedrun the same games they make TASes of with that same skill. You: Such as Super Mario 64 You: People speedrun AND TAS the game very well, and some particular people do both TAS and non-TAS Stranger: Then good for them, if they're good enough to make all the jumps, handle all the challenges and beat the game normally, then they don't need slowdowns You: Well, what I'm trying to say is that it's not that you NEED slowdowns to make the leve You: l You: *beat the level You: I'm saying that in order to make everything frame perfect You: It can only be done with frame advance. Stranger: ooooooooo Stranger: Stranger you were so close Stranger: You were so fucking close to winning this argument Stranger: But at the last second you fucked it all up You: ? Stranger: "It can only be done with frame advance." You: Okay Stranger: Bullshit, I've seen so many fucking perfect runs without that You: How do you KNOW for FACT they didn't use slowdowns? People can lie. You: It is less efficient to keep on going back and going back until you get the frames right. Stranger: I'll point you to Protonjon yet again Stranger: Less efficient? Maybe, but it also, y'know, shows that you're good at a game? Stranger: If you pull it off right then you made it, you're good, if you slowed it down to make then you fucking suck, you couldn't do it on your own You: Yes I could... Stranger: Then prove it Stranger: Prove that you're any good at a game and do it without slowdowns You: That's already happened You: Hold on Stranger: Otherwise you're doing what literally any kid with half an attention span and an emulator could do Stranger: I'm not asking for one of your videos Stranger: Don't link me Stranger: I'm making a point about slowdowns in general, not you in specific, not others in specific

Check MUGG's post in the previous page; it shows a few tricks and glitches. Currently, the most important ones would be the fire skip in Yoshi's Island (saves a few seconds), the money glitch (saves a lot of time, but I can't specify how much), and the Shroob Castle skip (saves a few minutes). There's also one skip at the moving tutorial. Saves a few seconds at most. And which version are you doing? J/EU versions are different than U. I'd guess J/EU is faster, but U is more likely to have more glitches (currently, no exclusive useful glitches found yet).
Well, we are actually doing the US version. I'm not sure why, actually you'll have to ask Noggy Nog that question. And thanks! :)
How can I help you King Dedede? I need a monster that can help me get Kirby. That´s what we do best at NME. You better give it with a money-back guarantee!

Well, actually, I agreed to help my new friend Noggy Nog on a TAS for this game, though I have NEVER actually played this game before. As I've already played Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga a lot and have made a couple TASes of it, as I play it on my emulator for a couple minutes, I can already see that some of the tricks are very similar, such as the stair jumping trick is pretty much the same. He has already gotten about 8 minutes through it by himself, but I suggested to him that he might be able to jump over the toads, and he tested it, turns out he could, so I think he has to hex it back together after he fixes the toad parts. He is right before the part where Mario and Luigi are stuck out of the time machine (and right before the part where I help ^^). So, if anyone knows any particular huge glitches/shortcuts/tricks, it would be recommended. Two Danish TASers work together for this! (Seriously, he's Danish too!!!!) :) :D :3 ^^

Can someone please explain why we are discussing multiple Pokemon games on this topic specifically for Fire Red and Leaf Green?
