:) Yeah this run was pretty nice. I like how unpredictable the game often seems to be in what movement is fastest, this makes the run more varied and surprising. The battle with Ridley was quite sexy as well :D

How come the site has been down for me since the moving, up until today ? DNS took 4 friggin' days to propagate ? Has it been down ? I'm quite sure lot of the site's audience had the same problem, and will come back shortly.

Up until a week ago the whole site was served from Bisqwit's computer at his home. Now it's a shared server Nach and adelikat rented from some hoster (can't remember who exactly). The problem is that the available RAM is too low for the site to work properly (or at all, to be slightly more descriptive). Nach is currently reprogramming/reconfiguring parts of the site to consume less RAM so that we could go on as usual.

Why in the mother of ass do you think that? That's not fair at all, because you're voting for the TAS here, not the one who did it.
I know, and my vote is still a yes. It was a joke. He makes a bunch of suboptimal movies of bad games, and they get rejected for that, then he starts whining about how all the judges and half the site is against him. And when he makes a movie that might get published he cancels it for the stupidest and most paranoid reason ever, in what looks like a cry for attention, and when the buzz has cooled off he un-cancel it. So I said (jokingly) that it now should be rejected just because nineko is the author, and that he probably would prefer it that way (as he would get more to whine about).

At this point I really do think the movie should be rejected just because it was made by nineko. I also think it would make him happier.

I just give my thoughts and opinions on stuff, I'm not directing anything at you specifically. And by "assumptions are fun" I thought that you meant assuming that the ingame run would be obsoleted, not assuming that the 14% run would be accepted because of it.

That would close the ingame any% down, leaving room for another category,
Not really. Super Metroid isn't specifically entiteled to 4 categories, and just because one disappears doesn't mean that another one can take its place just like that.

You say that like it's a joke, but it's true. And Kejardon is entiteled to some teasing.

IIRC the magic seal for zephyr is located in the clocktower (a.i, the same area he is located in). So after Dimitri wouldn't you just backstab abuse yourself into the cursed tower, from there get to the clocktower, and then to the Pinnacle? Sounds like it would shorten the run down a lot.

I vote against option 1 because it will be a very long run, so sacrificing some speed for entertainment is well justified, especially considering that the lost speed will be unnoticeable (even though it might add up to over a minute, it will be so spread out that you can't notice it). I vote for option 2 for consistency (and for not having to see Yoshi wobble half of the run).

Don't get your hopes up for that. Even if it does beat Saturn's run (which according to his estimations of the speed v ice route, it won't, you never know though), the 14% category has been obsoleted. And his run has been up on the table twice without getting published, and that doesn't really have anything to do with it not being optimal. EDIT: Also, kejardon, wat?

A 14% run is a low% run, 14 being the lowest percentage you can complete the game with without using the out of bounds glitching seen in the glitched any% run. And there are two variations that can be made to this run, either you collect speedbooster, or icebeam (the rest of the items is morphball, 2 missiles, 2 super missiles, 3 energy tanks, bombs, power bombs, varia suit, gravity suit and chargebeam (you can also collect just one missile pack and three packs of super missiles instead)). It's a run category that has existed for a long time, but due to difficulties has never been completed legitimately on console, and only once on emulator with the use of savestates but no slowdowns, and it has never been TASed. It won't become a new category here on the site though, as the whole 14% category has been obsoleted.

Just preparing you for the PAIN. I've done it twice and though about giving up both times. You aim for ingame time though, which should definitely ease things up a bit.

Well, I doubt that you would have enough time to get up to the correct height before he crashes in to you since he is so close.

Unless they cause some problem, that would probably help speed it up.
The cooldown time for supers are twice as long, and thus you can't have the grapple beam extended long enough to keep draygon in place the whole time (I think it takes 11-12 frames or so for it to get fully extended, while the cooldown for supers is 20 frames). Either way, as awesome as this trick is, it would not be possible to do in any run, even if it could have been done with supers. Because you have to waste all of your PB's and supers (or missiles if supers where possible to use).

Fantastic :D I asume that you have to be out of supers and PB's in order to switch between grepple and missiles fast enough though, which is unfortunate.

Indeed a matter of opinion, I do mean Metallica as in all they have done though, and I don't think I am the Walrus is the very best song that the Beatles ever made. Not that dislike Metallicas music, I do think that they have made several really good songs. Anyway. Braid - Downstream

Heh, the first thing that popped into my head when watching AVGN's review of this game was that it would probably make a decent TAS. Had I not been busy I would probably have started it already, but you beat me to the punch :)

Alden, I do the exact same thing, except for me it's closer to 97% of the time that I don't listen to the sound. Sometimes I don't even know what a game sounds like when I'm done TASing it.
Well when it comes to TASing and not watching, that's true for me as well. The sound from the game is usually very annoying in frame advance, and rarely helpful to me style of playing.
