I'm a little upset that all submissions has received extremely high ratings lately... ever since the new voting system was brought in it seems like there has been an inflation in the ratings.

I can't really like this movie, at all. The game is pretty much entirely text based (none of which you have time to read when watching the TAS of course, not that it would be entertaining to do so), besides some brown walls flickering in the background and some vomit which I guess represents defeated enemies. The sound managed to annoy the crap out of me, even though I only had to listen to it for less than a minute.
The technical quality is of course very good with such a big part of the movie played with bots, but I really can't say that I think this game deserves to get published, no offense to the author.

If you are talking about around 9000 frames in to the movie, it simply turned out to be faster to save the boost for when going down again (to not have to recharge it). All other plausible shafts are too tall for a diagonal boost to do any good (a.i you'd have to get so far up before boosting that it would waste time in the end).

Yeah, it's 6 for the charge attacks, 5 for the spinattack (L,R) 4 for the Sword attack, 3 for the projectile coming from the sword and on some enemies you can cause 1 damage by touching them.
Sounds very weird, I hope I'll be able to reproduce it, though it seems that it would be very hard to do so without having any idea of how to do it...
I'll see what time allows me to do...
Tried it now and I couldn't get it to reduce any lag.

I found this game some months ago and thought it would make a great TAS, then I noted that Nitsuja had already made one so I didn't. A few days ago though I decided to try and improve his run and it has worked quite nicely, so far I'm about halfway through the second level and ~10-10.5 seconds ahead of him.
Now I would of course appreciate some input if there is anyone interested, like improvement suggestions or known errors in the last movie and such.
Microstorage seems to be down for the moment, so I uploaded the WIP to mediafire instead.

Well ratings on submissions are transferred to the published videos (from what I understand) so it would just be unnecessarily complicated to have different rating scales on the published movies and the submissions.

Damn nice run you got there Saturn, happy to see that you are actually capable of finishing a run. The missile lake HBJ was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen done in Super Metroid, pure sweetness.

That's because Canada isn't a real country.
Yeah but the only reason I see that we are still keeping him is for "the lulz", as he has a knack for making hilarious statements and bloopers. A while back after a trip to Saudi Arabia and meeting with their leader he stated that it was one of the most free countries he had ever been to.

This guy frequently criticizes Islam. He does the same with Christianity, and in one video or so Judaism. His main focus remains Islam though, and he does actually receive death threats every now and then (from what I understand). Also the videos are probably extremely offensive to anyone who is a part of one of those religions.
Sorry for further derailing the thread.

Your face would get so red. And then the world implodes.
Really though, I don't see how people would be able to rate accurately with a 1-100 scale, and I think it would end up making many go +/- 0.1-0.3 depending on their mood, the game or other ratings. Anything beyond 1-20 seems pretty redundant to me, though I don't see any great harm in at least making the option to rate all the way up to 100 possible.

The camera angles didn't bother me at all, the fact that they where so different from the last submission made the run look more different than it actually was, which I liked. The improvements where naturally pretty subtle, but at this point, considering how many revisions the 0 star run has had already (and the 1 star run too, which is mostly the same), it is still pretty impressive to see almost another 2 seconds saved over the previous version. And BitDW was noticeable faster.
So to sum up. I liked it just about as much as the last run, where impressed by the improvements and think it should be published.
