What do you mean by this? Also really really good run of course :)

Or maybe it could just be eliminated entirely. Aside from perhaps a "quick" way to tell how a submission is going, I don't really see the benefit, especially considering the drawbacks of tempting viewers to reduce their feedback to just one syllable, political/ego voting, and ongoing confusion about the poll's intent. But that's just me... hey, maybe we could start a poll to see how people feel about the poll! Vote only after voting on a submission! ;)
Yeah only having written explanations on why you vote yes/no/meh seems a lot better, just a bit more laborsome for the judges.

I admit it. I voted no. I was not entertained by the movie. In fact, I hadn't made it past the long spiel by the Deku Tree before fast forwarding... there was nothing interesting that made me say "Oh gee, wow, I HAVE to watch the rest of this run". I did sit through the old movie, but only with JXQ's commentary. Without it, I would have shut that sucker off faster than a circuit breaker could flip. I answered the question: Did you enjoy watching this movie. No. I didn't. Best of luck getting the majority and getting published, though :)

It is former player, not forum player. It means that all your movies have been obsoleted.

Could someone who was part of making this chage go through how it works? Like what ranks there are and how they are separated.

Any progress on current runs? I remember Cpa saying the run would be finished within the month, and its been (roughly) a month.
Actually it was done in like 5 days after I said that... You just missed it :)

Well you'd have to sacrifice some time from having less health in LN, some time from having to restock on PB's before ridley (and possibly a little in tourian too), and I think the pipebug refills would take a little longer. But 600ish frames sounds pretty resonable at least.

Since they are so close spaced together I think that as long as there isn't concrete proof that one route is faster than the other, the most entertaining one should be used (skipping spazer IMO). In the end it is up to the author(s) though.

And no, there is no way I can think of to break the last full pillar with a blue suit, even if you would manage the CWJ at a much higher speed. The last pillar's position is just too high, and not reachable after a morphball bounce no matter what speed you would have.
Tada! Due to the tremendous amounts of lag I doubt this new strategy through the room would be of any help in a realtime oriented run though.

While we're here, has anyone researched the max speed at which CWJ is still possible?
It seems to be 2.36864, anyone feel free to get it with 2.40960 :) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1830213508/HighSpeedCWJ.smv EDIT: Also Booya The setup is of course not optimal here (you don't need to be that far back), but the jump needs to be extremely precise to work (margin of error is about 1/10th of a pixel or so). It might also be possible to pass through the last pillar (not counting the half one) with the bluesuit.

No he did work on such a run, but dropped it somewhere around Ridley in favor for the RBO, and now a hack run with Kriole.

Well it is a lot better than putting up two full lenght avi files that are identical up to the last 5-10 minutes anyway. If no one encodes the alternate ending just putting a link to the smv would work as well though. EDIT: Oh and nice work Saturn, excellent video quality :p

Was the shinespark method of skipping the zebetites faster than the method using the screw attack?
Yeah it took to long to manipulate the cannon to fire.

I don't really care one way or the other which one gets published. I really like the glitched MB fight, but no pausing is great, the shinespark to skip the zebites is cool and saving the animals is neat too. I'll leave this one up to the judges.

Finally got the motivation to finish the alternaive ending that removes the one and only pause screen, kills motherbrain properly and saves the animals at the end. Smv here.

Figured it would be better to post here than to make a new topic, as I have no intention of having any longer discussion going on for this. In lack of anything better to do I set out to improve this TAS, as the game though horrible do make for a decent run. So far I have completed the first world and it is ~330 frames faster than the last run. In the two frist stages the improvements (118 frames in total) came mostly from better speed management and avoiding more yarn balls. In the 3rd stage I skipped rolling out the bridge which saved a major part of the remaining 210 frames. Smv here. Tell me what you think, should I go on with this all the way through? Improvement suggestions and information about glitches (if there are any known) are also welcome.

I actually did a test of the first level some months back, improving it by 45 something frames, but I think there should be some more left. When I started I intended to do the whole game, but got tired of it because it desynchs every time I reload the movie (I need to shut down the emulator every time), and it only seems to take input every 3 frames, which is extremely annoying. Here it is anyway

Cpadolf, in general, how many frames does the blueball save compared to just bombing? Hard to tell since it's sort of circumstantial in the run breakdown, or it could just always be circumstantial, hrm
It is completely circumstantial. The one that saved the least was probably the on in kraids lair when going to the E-tank, I think that compared to the otherwise best method it was only a few frames faster. But some of them saved over 50 frames like when going out from phantoons room, and the one in blue brinstar that saved around a second. Some times it is not faster at all, it depends.

Simply by taking of varia suit and gettng hit by motherbrains hyperbeam with more than 699 but less than 999 hp. The beam drain 600 hp if you do not have varia on and with more than 1 tank left you can stand up again (that part is not a glitch). And for some reason I don't really know (probably a simple oversight, the programmers naturally did not excpect you would do the fight without varia on) the game will initiate the "Metroid to the resque" sequence anyway, but only if you do not have varia on.

I think I had one desynch with this smv right at the start, but that disappeared by simply starting the smv again. As for the rest, I can only presum that it has something to do with having a ROM without a header (filesize 3072 KB).

I think the ones who found it disappointing are those who either wanted Harry to die at the end, those who where convinced Dumbledore was still alive or those who basically had the whole story for it made up in thier head already, and where wrong on many parts. Also that girl who downloaded a fake version of it where everybody died in like the first chapter was probably pretty disappointed in the book. Seeing as how she killed herself. My ranking form best to worst (though worst is not really the right word here, as al of them are good). Deathly Hallows Half Blood Prince Goblet of Fire Order of The Phoenix Prisoner of Azkaban Philosopher's Stone Chamber of Secrets
