I think the best way to deal with that scenario is to yell to them to get out of the way. They'll probably think you're either crazy or in a big hurry. Either way, they'll probably move out of the way, making the way clear for you. :) And if they don't move, you might want to try yelling at them at different times to manipulate luck. Sooner or later they'll have to move. ;)
Yeah, it'd be something like "hey get out of the way your blocking my optimal path. You're gonna cost me like 20 frames if you don't move" Actually I've been doing stuff like this (not the screaming part) for a long time. Usually for stuff you have done many time before like walking a certain path to somewhere or making breakfast.

Ok, maybe that one. But since not having played the game makes it less entertaining in the end I think I prefer this.

Technically perhaps not, (I don't have enough in depth knowledge about the two games) entertainment wise though this is much greater IMO.

No wai, such incomprehensible thoughts are unacceptable. But seriously though, there are not that many GBA runs I like very much, basically it's the CV and Metroid runs I enjoy. So this run did not have to beat many runs to claim the title "Cpadolf's GBA run of choice/ZM 100%, if Cpadolf get's to decide". That does not change the fact that it's awesome though.

Though the fact that saturn added ingame frames does not mean his Escape is slower. From leaving ridleys room he must be 3 frames faster then 49:10 am I right?

Would pausing (not all the way, just before the map screen) just before going though a door reduce the time taken to fadeout the screen; thus saving real-time
Just tested and no unfortunately not :( , it would have been so great to save 20-30 frames at each door

I'm curious how (and where) would this CWJ work? (The room is the big room with sidehoppers and a blue gate in green brinstar)

Today if one where to use the old TAS route (Kraid-->Phantoon-->draygon-->ridley) would he benefit from taking spazer without using murderbeam, if not then would the would the gain from actually using murderbeam be noteworthy (over 1 second)?

Weird, I first suggested this decision for Saturns future Any% TAS and then it happen to me. Well at least this is something and the only thing I'll miss is that there will be no rating...

Anyone knows how long it will take for a run of this length to get encoded into an .avi file?

Yeah OCremix fails to please me aswell ~80-90% of the time, though they have some (Mostly piano only) tracks that are really really good.

Ok I'll explain why the pause screen abuse should be avoided. If no restrictions for the pause screen existed then it could be used surely upwards to 50-100 times in a run, this would make it maybe 30 frames-1 second faster ingame time and several minutes longer in realtime plus removing a lot of entertainment since each pause screen results in a 3-4 sedond break in the action. Thus I think it's a good goal to avoid the pausescreen. EDIT: Also Saturn, now that you have seen this what ingame time do you think you would be able to achive (given that nothing new will be discovered)

Dear Fabian: Varför finns det så många duktiga TASare från Sverige och Finland men inte från (vad jag vet) Danmark och Norge? Är folk från Finland och Sverige helt enkelt bättre?

This is actually the first (of 15 or so) site that has had anyone at all comenting my name in such a way... Either people is ignorant or no one cares. The only reason for this route isn't entertainment. (though perhaps I have made it sound so I don't know) It has a different goal then the other any% and that goal is best fullfilled with this route. I understand though why Hero's goal is more largly apreciated and that this might not be as good of a fit for a fourth SM run then the upcomming "Glitched out fast as possible any% NoBoss/MiniBoss" run.

I might know why this happens with the crumbleblocks at least. While making my TAS I encountered something strange in the room before botwoon, no matter if I did it exactly like JXQ the blocks in the top of the room would not crumble. I later redid a previous part and saved a number of frames and then the blocks crumbled when they where suposed to. So perhaps blocks can only crumble every two frames or the game only do collision checks every two frames.

I guess because with high enough speed you will never be at the position of the hole, you simply move far enough on 1 frame to move from one side to the other. The same thing can be seen while running over crumbling blocks at max speed, some won't crumble since you never touch them.

IMO going for ingame time in Super Metroid costs no entertainment (I like this route better for entertainment) obviously though many disagree. The only reason my run is longer is because of 4 more item collections and more door transitions and this is obviously another point where many strongly disagree with me but if I would watch a run of this game purely for entertainment I would not be able to tell the difference from 18 item collections and 22 or between 150 and 180 door transitions (not real numbers).

though a pauseless run is more visually appealing.
Especially since it is a realtime run and the ingame run can avoid all pausescreens. I'd say that as long as it don't keep you from getting sub 40 you should try to do it even if you would loose some time.
