After some proper testing I gained another 6 frames in the diagonal room, which is at least close to optimal I think since it only needs a 2 frame delay before the wavers, any less and you can't open the door even if you shoot the waver at the first possible frame... it might be possible to get a better positioning thus possibly gaining a frame, but I'm not sure.

It probably needs another Subpixel position in the start of the room to hit it that early, lucky (very lucky) me that it worked with the position I got at the first try, or else I probably wouldn't have discovered. As I said with this method it is possible to get to the bottom of the room 11 frames faster but then the wavers are at stupid positions.

Using my new strategy for recharging missiles in the diagonal room I improved 2 frames over moozooh. With this strategy it's possibly improvable by more though. Funny, the only improvements I find are those not in moozooh's total theoretical improvement list :P http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/688039508/Cpadolf-Missile%20recharge.smv

Lucky me I didn't decide to use Snes9x v1.51 then :P. My run will soon (at red brinstar) begin to take much more effort to complete since I will have to test much more because I have no up to date run to set my standard, most likely I will have to restart from red brinstar anyway after hero's run is published since I will most likely miss some new strategies... It will be interesting to see if Saturn have known about these newly invented strategies of yours, after all he constantly claims to know things we don't. EDIT: Damn, almost found a way to do the missile refill 11 frames faster then moozooh, but since I got to the wavers faster it was impossible (I think) to both open the door hit one with a missile get the missile and kill/avoid the last one so now I will have to do it like moozooh anyway =( Though both moozooh and Hero have probably noticed this already ;)

Indeed excellent, I overlooked the exact same thing as Saturn AI I tried to release jump at every possible frame but never released the direction button. Very nice (= EDIT: Any progress update on your run Hero?

Yupp, my best try was 1 frame slower then what moozooh did in his WIP, in that try I was actually on the platform during the door transition in a croutching position. I really can't figure out how it would be possibe since 1, AFAIK there is no way of changing your subpixel position before the jump to the door, any change at all from the optimal makes you stuck. 2, I have tried every possible y position when the transition starts, from 144.65535 = on the platform in a croutching position to 136 in a spinjump position and no one seem to be able to make me possibly land earlier. I'm not saying that it's impossible but the fact that also Saturn was unable to do this makes me suspicious.

And of course you should submit it if you get 0:23. Even a 0:24 would be worth the submission, since it would be a new record as well.
Though by the time I would submit Heros run will most likely be out already. I'm now done till bombs and have not encountered any problems yet, fortunately I did not lose a frame in the bomb room. Also I'm trying to add entertainment by shooting as much stuff as I can. EDIT: Also I've been playing around with the torizo escape a lot and have not been able to do the faster way heor did, so I thought maybe someone could explain it further if it's not to much trouble.

And one thing that I have to say now: Cpadolf, I told you 49'15 was possible! :)
Yea lol shame on me :p the thing is I would have belived a 49:03 or 05 or something but 49:15 is a ~ 8-9 frame improvement which I honestly did not think was possible. I guess it requires waiting frames for luck manipulation already in the opening cut scene doesn't it Saturn? Probably for the second to last room...

He saved 1 frame in one spot, likely because Moozooh overlooked something; it happens all the time. I say wait for consistency (which may very well happen, in which case kudos) before you start shitting your pants with this whole "this new guy is teh shiz".
You are absolutely right, without consistency improvements like this prove nothing. The improvement itself was found simply because I though that maybe I could do that part a little different without loosing a frame and what do you know, I gained one. Anyone who thinks I should try to get this published if I get 00:23 (unlikely but possible)

Yea IIRC the third room required a quite badass subpixel position, and if you exit at wrong position you should lose another frame in the last room.

I don't think he was being very offensive, he said it like beating moozooh was something unbeliveable meaning he thinks moozooh is great. Anyway don't expect to much, as I said the only reason to why I'm tieing with moozooh (and luckily improving a frame) is because I know how fast I must play, once I only have less optimized runs to compare to I won't be as good, probably.

Nope going with the same route. Gonna try to avoid recharging at the pipe bugs in norfair though and maybe I'll use your new draygon strategy too. Oh and did you manage to kill phantoon with the pattern where he quickly closes the eye or did you have to wait?

Neither did I, in fact I was quite shocked and thought something must be wrong. Also this saved me another frame at the elevator which was sweet.

I just played morphball-elevator and to my surprise gained a frame on moozooh in the room after the missiles. Since it was not in your list of improvements I thought it would be worth mentioning, and if you wish to look into it I'll upload the smv, I think the improvement is in the second jump in the room after the missiles. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/211037286/CpadolfTASv3WIP.smv

But I actually lost a frame twice in this manner on the first two elevators, didn't I?.. Well, I'll look into it later, I guess.
No, don't think so. After you push R to stop there is one frame of no input, I was forced to have 2 frames with no input.

Yes but then again I had help from his run, for every room I checked the framecount he had upon leaving each room and I refused to accept anything but that. And also if I found it impossible to keep up I checked what subpixel position he had when stopping at the door so I could try to get close to that myself. So I did not find all the optimal subpixel positions by myself which means I will most likely drop slightly in quality once the route difference begins. EDIT: Does the elevators act differently depending on what frame you enter the elevator room? Because I was trying to tie with moozooh from landing-morphball which went fine until the elevator room where I could not enter at the frame moozoooh did, after a lot of trying different strategies I got suspicious and decided to redo the last room enter at the exact same subpixel position and mimic moozooh's input and it was still impossible to enter at his frame, very annoying.

At last I have managed to tie with JXQ's frames in Ceres. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1060412636/CeresFinal.smv A good start so to speak but it will be harder to preform such quality when I later in the run have nothing to compare to.

I should add to you tonski that the best easy way to improve is to (at least i think so) actively monitor your old run trying to improve frames in every room and with the memory watcher it will be easy to see when you improve a frame or more in a room. Doing so myself I came up with this today: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1055332923/CeresWIP.smv I improve the escape by 00:00:16 on the clock and 21 frames in total without to much hassle. I should say though that even though this indeed is a start for a new run I am not going to continue on it yet. I made this part out of curiosity to see how much time i could save compared to my recent run with the method earlier mentioned. Continuing with this method 00:24 should be reachable. Also to be noted is that this time I will do phantoon 1 round by myself or die(=give up) trying as I see no meaning to have yet another run with I part I did not create.
