Why could the person in the video that inspired this TAS kill the boss? Also, why couldn't this glitch be done in the fixed version of the game that is beatable? I think this TAS is unpublishable in its current state. The only relevant precedent was the swordless run of Zelda in which the player chose to freeze the game as he couldn't beat the boss, but even that one TAS got its goal terms changed so that Link can get the sword after the challenge is over and kill Gannon, if memory serves me well.

I've seen the video too. The bug just cannot be reproduced by an emulator because unlike real hardware, emulators typically start with an empty memory. That's why he had to hack the emulator so that it has data already written in it, which triggers the bug on "Cheetahmen II"'s poorly written code. This is unorthodox and a nightmare to judge, but also the only way to trigger this specific bug. I asked if the bug was fixed in the kickstarter produced version (most likely not), because unlike the original version, this one is beatable.

I would vote no because this run fails to beat the game while the currently published run does. Although this one run uses the "original" version, that one was never released, and given that there's now an official version that is beatable, I don't see the point of using the old ROM. However, this run is interesting if only because it tries to showcase a bug that cannot be emulated, even if it achieves this by questionable ways. Isn't this bug in the patched version? If so, you would have a TAS that is both faster and beats the final boss.

This article showcases a godplay of the classic game Snakes, about 2 minutes long, in which a russian player eats 100 pellets of food, causing the Snake to grow large enough to fill the entire screen. http://es.gizmodo.com/un-partida-perfecta-de-serpiente-472150126

I think an exception could be made to broken games, however the PC market is funny because there are so many different configurations of hardware and software that's impossible to ensure a game will work in all of them. This is one of the reasons developers moved from the PC to gaming consoles: you can expect most units to have the same hardware/software (with a few exceptions like the DS/DSi/3DS or Android devices).

I liked it more than the previous one, but I would place in on the same tier than the previous run, if that one had any.

I want to get all of them but it's pretty hard to find the spanish version of Dawn of Sorrow. If you can afford only one, I suggest Order of Ecclesia because it has the best music (of the DS games, that's it) and is more open-ended than the others. I also like the glyph mechanic. Its biggest downside is that certain glyph combos are horribly broken and make the game way too easy. EDIT: The grinding in Order of Ecclesia is only noticeable if you want to level 3 certain glyphs that create familiars, want to get all monster drops without the proper equipment, and if you want to maximize certain rings that become more powerful the more money you have/enemies you have killed/hours you have played the game.

Movie makers judge the entertainment of the movies in rollercoaster terms. The original movie has 10 minutes of build-up and a very short ride with one single slope. This movie has a much shorter build-up and a longer, smooth ride with many, many small slopes that follow a musical pattern. To me it's obvious that this one is miles better in the entertainment level. It doesn't have the breakthrough achievement of being able to construct these kind of rollercoasters in the first place, but this one is a better rollercoaster than the previous one. Even if it's more simple, simple sometimes is better.

I get stoned everytime I watch a run of this game. The palettes, animation, music and glitches are so weird, I have to ask myself: What were they thinking?! Other than that, voting yes!

I think it may be fair to include the name of the previous author in the file, given that you don't alter it substantially.

A question, couldn't you put a bomb as soon as you jump over a rock, then continue your way? That way, you don't need to wait for so long for the bomb to break the rock when you return after you pick the key. EDIT: Nevermind. After watching the video again, I found that, unlike in Spelunker HD, the player doesn't start with a bomb and a flare.

Hell, yes! I was watching the previous version this week, and the incredible improvements from this run left me flabbergasted.

You made NES Dragon's Lair look like a real playable game instead of the disaster that it truly is. Fantastic!

Is this the first movie ever to be published with no 'Yes' votes?

The TASes that first blew my mind where Moritomo's Gradius, which I still prefer over the current run; The any% run of Super Mario World; The SMB3 run, and the glitched Circle of the Moon TAS. More recent examples are Pokemon Yellow in slightly above 1 minute, The "zero star" run of Mario64, and the "Family Feud" run, which would look funnier if it slowed down input a bit so that people could read it without having to pause. Even though it doesn't use game-breaking glitches, I really like the most recent Gimmick TAS.

I think marking the phone numbers of monsters you haven't met in this game should count as "uses passwords"

I vote no because after watching this TAS I find it too close to the original. If this merits its own TAS page, I demand different categories for Japanese/USA bionic commando.

I had a friend that played so much this game, he was able to extinguish the fire on the helicopter within the 15 minutes of gameplay allowed in the Resident Evil 2 demo. In this video the scene happens at minute 16, so you are probably doing something early on that he could skip. As you visit several times the same corridor in the police station, maybe you could save one trip if you go there after extinguishing the fire. Also, I remember that if you activate some switch, you prevent the zombies from entering through the windows later. As that cutscene takes a lot of seconds, maybe you could save time barring the windows? It's has been maybe 12 years since I last played this game, so you probably have to take too many detours for it to be worth, but I think it doesn't hurt to ask. Finally, I remember one of the first two Resident Evil had a secret that only happened if you never thrown away a key, but I think it was the first one. I'm voting yes to this run. Now I'll have to wait until someone attempts the "Claire B" scenario to see the Tyrant.
