Either I have the worst memory in the world or 52 seconds is the in-level improvement, or something. I definitely thought our improvement was over a minute though. Meh, not important. ISM's (didn't know he spells it with all caps) WIP is indeed awesome. Much of the improvement comes from the trick which ultimately made us quit our run, but he's doing pretty much everything else better than I/we did too.

I don't have the spreadsheets and stuff any more, but it was somewhere in the 65-70 seconds area, after around 40 exits or so ism is working on the new run.

Hey guys, In October 2006, I started working on an improvement to my 96 exit SMW run. It was going to be prety cool and substantially better than the published run, but many (sometimes partial) restarts and a lack of motivation caused this project to die out, despite me getting lots of help from JXQ, jimsfriend, skamastaG and support from thegreginator, DK64_MASTER and Cardboard. Anyway, there's a new version of this run in the works, so we won't be finishing ours. If anyone wants to watch it though, you can download it here. Feel free to comment of course, thanks for watching. Super Mario World Unfinished 96 Exit Run by Fabian, skamastaG, jimsfriend and JXQ

I don't get the first one, different than. What "should" it look like to not sound ungrammatical?

I hate people who can't differentiate between lose and loose. It drives me absolutely batshit fucking insane ballistic, that's how mad I get. I literally go ballistic. If you can't remember which means what, why bother learning English at all? And don't tell me about how some people don't have English as their first language, because I could care less.

Me and JXQ had a hard time deciding between this BSP strategy and the one we ended up doing. Still not sure which one I like better, we took a long time to decide :)

Which secret level? Of course there's everything you'd ever want in the Boo secret but you have to beat the tower to reach that so it won't help with the tower. I don't remember any select item use in the boo world up to the tower and the comments list nothing either so maybe you could grab a springboard before entering the boo world (you're on the star road so getting somewhere won't be impossible though it'd take several seconds and the board would have to make up for a lot).
The springboard can be found in Crystal Secret House, the Cavern world, #4.

I don't bother to proofread after the fact. If I catch a typo, hey, great, but if I end up missing one or making some other error, I don't bother to fix it.

Bisqwit, Well done Sir. As for the run, I voted no. I like it less than the quad run.

I think that was the funnest mario world TAS I've seen. Are there any other movies that have the secret input dancing? It's too bad that gets lost in the AVI. Yes Vote for fun improvement.
JXQ's 100% Super Metroid run will pretty much never ever be topped. Go watch it.

Beautiful run Mister. My favorite things are the Dark Room which is very noticeably faster than ours, and, most importantly, the colors you chose during the fadeout of Donut Plains 1b. Those are the colors I wanted to use when I started redoing the 96 exit run a while ago, but I was voted down completely by my fellow SMW TASers :) To all you people watching, note that the improvements in the submission text are over the currently published run, not the cancelled submission from a few months back. Again, great run, thanks for making it.

There's been a few other threads about this game, here's one: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6127&start=0 In that thread, I posted an smv for fun of the first three levels, here it is. I know there's a faster (and complete) smv of this TAS done by either Mister or ism around here somewhere, but I don't feel like searching. Personally I like hacks and think the standards for accepting them when there's interest for them should be much looser than they are, but it is what it is and I doubt this hack would be accepted under the current rules.

What if you make this list for yourself and your friends, though? :P
I was actually close to including a disclaimer about this. If that's your intent, good for you. It's when you believe your list has some kind of value in its own to people in general you're stupid. Edit: Please note that this is my opinion and I'm not trying to pass it off as fact.

Is it a good idea to group TASes and non-TASes together? meh, yeah I guess. I don't think it's an important distinction so yes it probably makes sense to me. Is it a good idea to make and publish lists of your favorite speedruns and publish it on your website? No, it's a stupid idea and no one but your friends care.

At first I was like "rejecting this would be stupid and wrong", then I thought about it some more and read the rules and stuff, then I was like "meh I guess rejecting this actually is justifiable according to the rules", so meh. Personally I think it should be accepted because it's over a second faster and that the rules are sorta stupid, but that's neither here nor there.

I think Oddity and Fano fell for some kind of advanced fake reverse misunderstanding troll post. I for one thought okaygo was pretty funny.

1 frame compared to the current frame counts that have been released or compared to the secret adjusted frame counts no one knows about just yet?

And what's the deal with airline food? PS. If you can't get IPS patches to work, you're doing something wrong. Blame yourself instead of the patch, imo.

Here's another nugget of wisdom for you Saturn: You can use .smv's as proof that something is possible. You can't, however, use smv's as proof that something is impossible. For example, saying "it's impossible to improve this because I have this smv right here" won't work out very well at all.

Instead of writing a long response I'll just tell you where you went wrong and let you figure out the rest comicalflop: "... because we haven't made a submission for it"
