Giving a hacked run a star would be contriversal, no matter how good the hack is.

I don't have any problems. But I would want it to tell me before like I did with herooftheday. I could even help you if you want. Btw, do you have some ideas to make it look better?
No it was only hypothetical, I don't have any ideas and I'm not planning on it. Thanks for the answer.

Phil, even though it seems like I'm mocking you, I'm not, this is a 100% serious question and I'd appreciate a serious and honest answer. If I took your warpless SMB movie, copied it frame by frame except I added in one "new" event which was considered more entertaining than what you and Genisto did, then submitted it as "by Fabian, Phil & Genisto", would you have a problem with that?

Phil, he's not saying his movie is perfect. In fact, he's saying that if you improve it with even one frame he will be the first one to vote yes.

This was a movie a lot of people said with 100% certainty wasn't improvable by a single frame right? Good job hero.

I think hopper's idea of paying people is excellent! I'm looking forward to someone starting the SMW96 fund. In reality I think the idea is not excellent. I've also always wanted to write in small print weee macrowave

bossman, I definitely agree it's unfortunate comicalflop felt so disappointed (or hurt) over this. No one made fun of him for putting his heart into the run or refusing to do it half-heartedly though, not even close. "and name calling and taunting when someone is trying to express those emotions is far, far worse than being "whiny", in my opinion. " Name calling is not often justifiable, I agree. I think calling out said people and discussing things in a nicer manner is, though. Some people did just that, and I think they all helped getting the main point across to comicalflop.

I think saying comicalflop got made fun of because he "Put his heart into the run itself" or for "refusing to do a run half-heartedly" is very inaccurate. I think I read "whiney bitch" being thrown around, which may or may not be a nice way of putting it, but either way it had very little (nothing) to do with the rules text you quoted.

Weatherton, Sorry about your thread being hijacked. Good job on being so cool in your response to comicalflop, I certainly wouldn't have been if I were in your shoes. Also congrats on the run. comicalflop, It's understandable to feel disappointed and it's understandable to vent a little. I know I do it all the time. The impression I'm getting here though is that you're arguing these events are somehow unfair to you (realize that even if you're not saying this, that's how it's coming across), which is clearly ridiculous, and I think the best course of action here is to move on from this discussion. Others have said this same thing in a slightly less suger-coated way, and I realize it makes it all the more difficult to follow their advice. Like I said, I suggest you do, though. I mentioned this earlier, but if I were Weatherton I'd feel pretty insulted by this. That's something else you might want to consider. Regarding the run, I haven't watched it, but it sounds cool enough despite its unoptimized state.

Instead of editing the existing submission like every other human being you resubmit it since the last one had like 15 no votes huh?

jimsfriend and I was JUST (literally 10 seconds ago) discussing exactly what you just posted Upthorn. High five! and also I agree with that, but I'm not sure how realistic it is considering some people (important people) feel very strongly about one particular ROM version here. Anyway like I said I agree.

About the voting question, Point taken, though I don't really agree. Let's save the discussion about that question and what it really answers for another thread though. I take back what I said about favoritism and I'm sorry about that. I don't have a strong opinion here, I'm not opposed to having two versions of one game co-exist. What has mainly bugged me about this discussion is this "If you want to decide for yourself that's fine, but make it clear that's what's going on." Having the site owner revoke a judging decision is, like I said, fine. You are the site owner after all. You and another very vocal gentleman are (almost, ventuz? or someone too) the only people opposed to accepting this run though. "Discussing it further" after everyone's opinions are already in, the majority has spoken, a judge has already accepted the movie, etc, just comes across as.. I dunno, not great. Make it clear that your opinion is the only important one, and I think you'd be hearing less protests. Certainly less from me, anyway.

"I don't see any reasoning at all in feitclub's submission. He lists some differences between the two games. He states that it's up to you (Bisqwit) if you want to 1) replace it because it's faster 2) list it as a second game. That time, you chose 1). The situation is exactly the same as now; this is faster. If version differences are taken into consideration, it is actually quite a lot faster, about 23 seconds, than a version that most people thought was "OMG WTF!" and which has had a star for a long time. But for some reason (which is unclear to me) you want to choose 2) this time." "If you are going to revert my decision, I think you should state what it's going to be instead. Like JXQ said, it feels like "reach a consensus" in this case really means you think we should change our minds and start to agree with you, which we don't and probably won't. I think 39 to 3 is a good enough consensus." Two interesting points I don't think recieved much attention. This really does reek of bullshit and favoritism, despite what Bisqwit might say. Seriously Bisqwit, take this to heart. If you want to decide for yourself that's fine, but make it clear that's what's going on. Don't come here talking about consensus and popular opinion when we have 40 yes votes and 4 no/meh. It's dishonest and doesn't reflect on you well at all.

Cool greg. Remember, when I had 25-30 something levels left, I had the run done in 6 days :) No pressure! Anyway looking forward to seeing it finished.

I'd be curious to hear what the other judges think of Truncated'd decision, as well as his reasoning.

I used to play some on pokerstars, limit holdem in the 10/20 to 30/60 range. Nowadays I don't use this site a lot, though occassionally I play low stakes NL to learn that game.

it would make some people rate movies inaccurately just to stay within the "normal" range.
That's the point I don't get. I mean I get it but how can it be the point? One should not rate movie like if maximum was 15 and minimum was 4 when maximum is 10 and minimum is 1. 10 is for perfect. 1 for worst ever. anything else goes to normal range.
z, Here's an example to show what I mean. A movie is rated at 9.0 after 36 votes. "Normal" range is 8-10. Another quick example. A movie is rated at 7.4 after 48 votes. "Normal" range is 7-8. Let me know if you need more clarification.

I agree with moozooh's points. I think it would make some people not want to rate, and I think it would make some people rate movies inaccurately just to stay within the "normal" range. I don't see any downside to having an option of displaying your ratings if you want to though, so I voted "it should be voluntary". Otherwise, no.

You can also use VLC to play these .avi files. It's the media player I use, I recommend it.
