On another forum I read, there's this super awesome animated emoticon with the guy eating from a bag of popcorn (most often used to imply that the poster is sitting down to watch the drama unfold in the thread).
Not being a fan of emoticons, I'd be using that one pretty frequently if it existed.

From what I understand the result would look good if you resized it in paint anyway, since you don't shrink it that much and it's a small picture to begin with. Try it out and see if you like the result.
Edit: Also, you can see pixel count in the lower right (I think?) corner of ms paint when you're resizing images, to help with getting them correctly sized.

Since I just learned myself how to do it, I might as well share:
SS, first you need to open ms paint and load the image you want to resize. Next, you need to highlight the entire image with the Select option (the rectangle). Next, move your mouse to the lower right corner of the highlighted image, where it will change into a doublesided arrow. Click, hold, and resize. Don't forget to save the image.

Strate, I'm not an OOT expert, but some sort of sequence break has been discovered, letting you bypass a number of temples. Zurreco is probably right that it's described in more detail earlier in this thread.

Here's something I've been thinking about. With the new domain change to TASvideos, aren't we encouraging people to think only in terms of speed (since TAS stands for Tool-Assisted SPEEDrun), while the number one goal should be entertainment?

Well, it should be, but not always, as it seems.
Alright this is what I'm talking about! Some focused discussion of this very important, yet so neglected, topic. I encourage everyone to chime in with their views. You know I should probably make a thread about it.
Edit: Someone just suggested in the irc channel that we should change the meaning of TAS to Tool-Assisted Superplay. I'm pretty sure this idea hasn't come up before, and I think it's really interesting. It'd be cool to hear what you all think about it.

Mario is at Butter Bridge 1. I haven't done anything for a few days, but I'll hopefully start up tonight. Sidescrollers always take a lot of time to finish.
I haven't tested that fire cape thing.

I think this is a good point. I've watched the console speedruns and read the trick discussions etc, so I'm pretty familiar with what's going on in most places already. If you're not I can certainly see why it might be boring.

I tried watching the latest WIP last night and it worked fine until the child portion of the Spirit Temple was done, then it desynched for me. Oh well.
I was thinking about the sidestepping vs backwalking thing when wathing this. Sidestepping looked faster to me. Oh well :)

I totally see your point and I don't mean to be mean or anything, but you're definately in the minority on this one. It's somewhat rare for TASes to intentionally sacrifice time to make something look more entertaining, and when it does happen it's usually for very small amounts of time. I don't want to make up numbers here but not backwalking or sidehopping would make this ALOT slower. It really is quite a bit faster.
Edit: Of course, it's also arguable how much more entertaining looking such a run would be. Personally I like the style of Guano's run.
