"The glitch of boss in AR2, improved 1 second. But the total time increased a little." if it saved time why didn't you use it? you ignored time bonus in tallying in previous levels.

while everything that derakon says is true, a better answer would be that since the time bonus and ring bonus tally at the same time, and the levels in this run are done so fast the ring bonus is never an issue. for instance if you beat a level in 1:29 (giving you a 10,000 point time bonus) you'd need to have over 100 rings before having rings would make the bonus tally take any longer.

AR2 and CN1 look pretty well done, although you're still missing the AR2 boss glitch. (kill him as he starts swinging the hammer) I think EH1 (and possibly 2) could be improved greatly by following the new WiP of those levels more closely.

its quite possible to get the slope glitch without left+right at the same time. iirc all you need to do is do a spindash off the booster thing at the right time. I actually used it in a run of wing fortress a few times, but you have to go out of your way to grab invincibility to kill the boss with out super sonic.

finished Chemical Plant. next up Aquatic Ruin zone, my least favorite level of s2, should be interesting :P http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1853213839/S2.gmv you should note however that all of EH (except the capsule hit) was done by upthorn, and most of CP1 was an imitation of a WiP by aglar. (I managed to save 1 frame over him at the very end of the level)

this run is fairly entertaining, and much more optimized then your first submitted version of this run. but there are still a lot of minor (and a few more major) improvements. for instance on several occasions you seem to jump at full speed, or jump into a low ceiling which doesn't give you much benefit. every time you jump sonic completely stops moving for a frame, so even jumping into a ceiling may not be worth it at high speeds (I think with a speed of over 1100 or so jumping is never worth it) theres also a couple missed glitches, like the CN1 zip and the AR2 boss glitch. @sgrunt, I'm pretty sure the emerald hill and death egg bosses can't be beaten with out spindash with out gaps in hitting him. and the oil ocean route looks alright to me. @mike the published run doesn't use a spindash by the springboard in AR2, so I'm almost certain the lower route would be faster. also I didn't notice the breaking, but usually breaking a few frames before hitting the flag won't make you lose time. finally I think the optimized routing for this run would be pretty close to an optimized run with spindashes, which makes this category less apealing. I'm voting meh.

the screw can push you through the ground. its one of the improvements to the any% run. all you have to do is do a screenwrap glitch, then stand in the middle of it, and jump when it comes back on screen.

yes I do, I added you to skype. I don't usually like to voice chat during the day though because I feel it bugs the people around me.

well I've been given a WiP made by upthorn which absolutely puts mine to shame, being 85 in game frames faster then mine. its kind of off putting to be honest, knowing that what ever I do will probably be suboptimal. I was going to keep working on this anyway since the movie is in such a dire need for improvement, but if you are gonna work on it perhaps I should leave it in your hands.

good timing, I'm working on an improvement, so far I'm 37 game frames ahead and at the end of Emerald Hill Zone. Unfortunately if I try to upload a .gmv to microstorage right now it says "Incorrect key file for table: 'microstorage'. Try to repair it" so I can't upload the WiP. I've been using input splices of nitsuja's movie and will probably leave most of the endings to the levels as he did them, kind of like I did for my sonic 1 TAS. but its a pain in the ass using input splices with a multitrack .GMV. if I do need/feel like changing the end of a level I might need some help with that as I'm not all that creative. also if you know of any improvements I miss or can splice an improvement in that I wasn't able to do I'd welcome the help. also sonikkustar I'm not sure what you mean by having tails hit the capsule from far away. some clarification or an example might be nice, I'm not really sure how it would save any time.

no I wasn't able to get over with out a boost... but I havn't tried the level from the start yet, though I doubt that will help. the movie is the same as yours until the very end. and boosting to go over the dragonfly is about a second faster then I was able to do going under the dragonfly (although that still took a little damage) I'm a bit worried you'll need the health later though as I don't know this game all that well, and don't know when the next heart you'd be able to get is.

so I don't know if you still want to work on this or not, but I finally gave getting past the dragonfly another shot, and managed it. its 68 frames faster then I managed to do with out it but it took some health to do. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4LLBTEG9

theres a .giz of the Casino Night 1 trick here: http://www.soniccenter.org/forum/index.php?topic=2586.msg48570#msg48570 but you need an account at soniccenter.org to download it, and you need gens+ to play the file back. I could probably make a .gmv or edit a run of the level into your .gmv of it if you want.

I don't really know what you're talking about in HT1 but I've never been able to do the zip quite like the TAS does. also, are you doing glitches? because if so theres a new one in CN1 not in the published movie that could probably bring the time down to 25, maybe even 24.

I actually found this to be fairly impressive. Although I'm pretty sure none of the levels were perfect (in fact I think my run of EH1 beat yours by a few frames) its definitely a marked improvement over your previous WIP. or maybe I've become a bit less picky recently... idk.

this movie is in bad need of an obsoletion. there's at least a few frames of improvement in EH1 alone. and I think all of metropolis can be improved. there's also a ~1 second improvement to CN1. I've hardly even looked at the other levels so I suspect there are other improvements as well.

I was reasonably entertained by your WIP, but if you were planning on submitting this, I'd suggest you add "fastest time" as a secondary goal and scrap the point-whoring like you did in Marble Zone 2.
I don't really plan on submitting this, I think it will probably be to long and boring for a platformer on this site. My rules are mostly to comply with TSC's rules: *No death abuse *Doesn't collect the same rings more then once *Avoids failing a special stage *Aims for highest score *Avoids sheilds and invincibility if it doesn't save time or add to score (since my goals don't include getting the fastest time this makes things a bit more interesting) If I do decide to submit this I'll be sure to add another rule: "Avoids destroying point giving entities (enemies/blocks) more then once" and I'll replace marble 2 and 3 with input (or at least strategy) by carreter0 and probably optimize the time of some levels. Off the top of my head I'm guessing the score will be ~1.5 mil. I made this savestate so I could quickly go to SY1 in case I wanted to watch the run from there, or I lost all my other savestates somehow: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GCE2B1K1 currently I'm only 172,420 points away from the combined record total at TSC and I'm only half way through the game! :) and I'm 192300 points ahead of the records through sy3 combined. (this is misleading since it counts the special stages) some of amounts I broke the TSC record by are out of date now. the scores for ILs are: level score (TSC record beaten by) gh1 77130 (1900) gh2 78530 (5000) gh3 100600 (45500) m1 69730 (600) (werster claims to have gotten a score a mere 100 points off my TAS.) m2 259430 (76600) m3 123300 (17400) sy1 73430 (2100) sy2 69580 (2100) sy3 31900 (1000)

I havn't been making new posts here because it didn't seem like anybody was interested but I finished Spring Yard zone: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1847519894/sonic1score_TAS.gmv Spring Yard 2 is 69580 which is 2100 more then the record at TSC Spring yard 3 is 31900. I managed to get all points in sy3 in under 4 minutes, which gave me 1000 points over the record at TSC point total is now 923730
marble 3 was 123300 which is 13500 more then carreteros TAS and 19700 more then the record at TSC. sy1 was 73430 which is 2100 more then the TSC record.

I don't think that trick is possible as sonic. also so far this doesn't seem like a TAS as much as just messing around. I'd suggest not submitting it.

I got 22 EH1 in only a couple minutes and a few rerecords, redo it. I don't know what you mean by "be long enough" check out: http://tasvideos.org/SonicTheHedgehogTricks.html for useful tips and ram watch values.

you should be doing full jumps at the start of the level. try to avoid jumping once you're at full speed, even if you hit a ceiling before losing speed you still lose a frame. also if you have to jump try and jump on a downhill slope and let go of forward so you can go over the max speed. I think the TAS route is usually (for the most part) still the optimal route even with out spindashes. try to get the bouncing off enemies strat the TAS uses in EH1, I'm sure something similar is possible with out spindashes. you should use glitches although you might be able to make some rule about not using certain glitches it would be hard to justify, and would have almost no chance of getting published. you could probably add a no horizontal underflow clause though. you might want to try the left+right trick to gain more acceleration from a stop but I don't think it would be a big deal if you just didn't use left+right/up+down at all. you might also want to try rolling/jumping down some hills but this doesn't always give more speed then just running down them. also you should never roll up hills or on flat ground or break unless you have to. obviously 1000 rerecords isn't nearly enough to make a TAS, try to make every part perfect. as it is right now I think I could probably beat EH1 and EH2 with out tools. Good Luck.

small improvements to GH1 GH3 and M2 over the currently published run but desyncs in m3. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/259495580/Copy%20%2840%29%20of%20SonicTasTeam_Sonic1.gmv I don't think any of these levels, or GH2, are perfect and I didn't think that these small improvements were worth submitting.

I've been thinking of picking this run up but have been very lazy lately, especially with regards to anything TAS related. also I think that this will be fairly different then tool-assisting bonks revenge and if I ever do start it will take me some time to get used to the tricks.
