for instance if you want to get to macros C from macro A (assuming theres no lag) you should press down, down+C. in at least one case you pressed down, no-input, down, C.

you know if you press up/down, up/down confirm (hold up or down for 2 frames then hit the confirm button on the second frame) it skips a spot. moving 2 spaces in 2 frames, which would otherwise take 3 frames. although I think the lag usually cancels this out. also all you have to do to get le roof to appear is wait one extra frame after opening the last box before opening the menu.

the issue seems to be in converting the mcm to an mc2. when converted a small percentage of the input is cut off from the end of the file. this sudden ending to the input seems to cause random input for a frame, in this case pausing the game. this can be fixed by extending the input a bit before converting. if you accept this movie PLEASE don't leave this mistake in the final encode.

you know you can do a slope glitch that skips a fair amount of the start of FB2, I'm not 100% sure it would save time compared to going hyper sonic though.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this run, maybe even helping out at times. the main reason why I decided to do bonk's revenge instead of this game is because I thought you might still be working on this, and I didn't think I could match your round 1 time anyway.

I had to wait for the vine to be going its fastest before jumping off so I would gain maximum speed, although I just sort of eyeballed this. as for hitting enemies when I had to take damage anyway, this may have been an oversight. I had to slow down in zone 4 to manipulate a crown (I didn't know I ever had to manipulate crowns before then) and I chose to stop myself by attacking a bat (I also delayed my first jump a few frames) I probably could have done this by delaying jumps but this was easier for me. I was actually trying to avoid getting hit the second time but I couldn't quite manage it, theres probably a way to avoid getting hit if you play earlier parts of the battle differently or something. the point of getting hit in 5t was to delay my exit so I could get a large health in the next level I ended up delaying it about 30 frames from optimal but it wasn't an exaustive search. getting hit may not have even done anything other then slow me down. on the final boss the amount of time it took between swings was the same. I think that it takes longer from the start of the swing for it to hit the boss which might be why it seemed like it took longer... I also wanted to mention that with pcejin for some reason it pauses and ends the movie about 5 seconds before I ended the input meaning this encode ends a bit early.

this emulator pauses and stops movie playback about 5 seconds before it should in my legendary axe TAS after converting to mc2. the ram watch/search glitchy as well. I found a ram position that seemed like the speed value in the legendary axe. when walking right it always had a value of 384, when jumping right it had a value of 448 with 2 bytes. but when I put that ram position in the ram watch it had value of 128 when walking (either way) 192 when jumping right and 64 when jumping left. and when I set it to 1 byte in the ram search it had -128 when walking -64 jumping right and 64 jumping left.

if I'm not mistaken you can skip knuckles boss by spindashing from the right position. I doubt it would save enough time to be worth it, but you could start icecap2 with super sonic that way.

you have to get the ring monitors in a certain order which changes each time you beat the boss. couldn't you do the boss skip or would knux route in IC2 be too much slower?

my understanding was that you can't manipulate his attack every turn, something like he does a certain attack every so many turns no matter what.

I think the only thing ram watch would have helped for was knowing the exact health of the bosses and when exactly to jump off the vines. I meant to get ram watching working but I didn't really feel like learning how to use a 3rd party ram watcher. I don't know why it pauses for you, it doesn't do that on my end.

I would say you should change the color to try to get a personal feel to it, or at least mess around with it and change it back to the original blue if you don't have anything else to do entertaining in those 10 seconds.

I think that fighting sonic boss in mg2 as knuckles would fall under the "instantly warping from the start of the level to the end" since it works under the same premises.

I'm not sure if you were still planing on doing any of the bounties. but I think if you do any of them that wouldn't save you time, you should just do all of them (sort of a 100% run)

I'm sure nobody cares about this one since its long and repetitive but heres marble 2 with 259430 points, and beats carreteros latest TAS by about 60k points but I don't think he tried very hard on that one. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/421531469/sonic1score_TAS.gmv I went for the stylistic approach of slowing myself down about 2 seconds near the end to get 9:59:59 instead of going as fast as possible, not sure if this was the best choice though. I also think getting that single ring box to the left of the checkpoint was a waste of time but I'm not gonna go back and fix it.

I always thought that super sonic was just invincible with speedshoes and a higher jump. but thats with out reading any memory values so I don't really know. (s2 and I'm guessing s3k have a different memory value for speed then s1)

I didn't know that macros only hit the center target, but notice how in the video dark force only hits chaz :)

I added SS1 at the end of GH1 and did marble 1, which I got 600 points more then the record at TSC and finished in 29:59. I thought it would be a pretty easy stage to do, and in fact after a bit of optimization I got what I thought would be the max score with over 4 seconds to spare, so I decided I had to go for a few hundred extra. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1544738022/sonic1score_TAS.gmv

I know I've sort of been neglecting this run, but I finally finished zone 4. I figured out I could save about 30 frames on the bears by taking less damage, but I couldn't get it to sync up. and I accidently reverted back to an older version of the eyeball bosses but that hardly wasted anything, and it looks cooler turning invisible anyway. http://www.filedropper.com/legaxefuzz http://rapidshare.com/files/255663423/legaxefuzz.mcm.html for some reason I had to delay getting to the crown in the level by jumping late at the start of the level and hitting a bat while on the ground. but the level 4 power helps a lot on the boss seeing as its 3 times as powerful as a level 3 charge! edit: reuploaded and added a rapidshare link because filedropper deletes stuff too fast.

well I don't think I'm going to work on this ever again, so I guess I'll post my wip here incase anybody wants to finish it. although I could have sworn I had one that was farther then this and demonstrated the item duplication glitch at the end http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/477809541/PHANTASY%20STAR%202.gmv (obviously I'm just messing around at the end).

thats a good point, if I don't repeat stages I probably wouldn't have to go back to redo anything, although I think breaking up the two short levels of gh1 and gh2 would be a good point to get an emerald. I'm not sure about marble zone 2 but I think I'll be getting 50 rings in every other relevant level, I'm pretty sure I'll get 50 in m1 sy1, sy2, l1, sl1, and sl2. however there is NO speed bonus in special stages, which makes maxing score pretty trivial. I mean there are 24 people who have gotten all the rings in every special stage at TSC. of course I would try to keep them from being too slow, but the special stages have very strange physics and theres no guarantee that I'd be able to do them well enough to be impressive. (esp SS3 which is just one big square room.)

I believe stanski has provided his 100% route in the sonic 2 thread on SDA, if you can find that it would probably help. don't give up just because a couple people tell you what you're doing wrong.
