I believe you meant the Draygon, right? And yes, using the grapple beam is indeed fast, but using super missiles is even faster.

Haha. But even if there's no minute improvement, it'll still be faster if he keeps doing this great, and I think that's enough reason for it to be published.

Big game hunters, (name?) is the one with 50000 minerals in each "mineral stock?", (I don't know how what to call them). Hunters is a "normal" map.

Damn.. I tried to jump earl as possible to reach the edge.. and now i losed almost 20 frames final blocks are appearing slower than in mm&ff movie
Do you know exactly where you lose frames? Go work and test different ways in that particular place.

GW, is the run you are posting going to be a 100% run or any%? (or just for fun with no real goal hehe)
It's just to get to learn how to play the game, in case I'd ever wanna make a demo of it. And it's gonna be played under as fast as possible conditions, which means I'm only gonna pick up what I need, the same as the published movie, but one extra missile pack to be able to kill Phantoon in one round, and some other minor things, I don't know if it's faster, but it does look alot cooler, I'm not gonna try to submit it or take it seriously, so yes, it's just for fun with no real goal. :) You should shoot charged plasma while the torizo is jumping though, because it hits 2 times, and super missiles while he can't catch them, since it deals alot of damage in a short period of time. Some of the items in lower norfair, at least one energy tank will be slower to get without space jump, (I believe), so you've gotta think about that too. I havn't been thinking about that much, but the more I read, the more I'm convinced that we should either find a way of getting spring ball without ice nor grapple beam, or get the ice beam during the first visit to norfair. Of course it would look much cooler if you got spring ball without ice, so I guess someone should try to find that other dude (I'm bad with names) that started the last "run" and ask him what he had in mind, or just find a way to do it on your own.

By doing stuff in the more traditional order, there will be 40-45 Super Missles available for the Gold Torizo fight, AND the plasma beam. Both could be used to save more time.
I believe it doesn't matter how many super missiles are available, since you most surely wont use more than like 5-15 on the Gold Torizo. (I have no idea of how the number of hits with plasma/super missiles it takes, so I might be terribly wrong.)

Have you tested sitting, shooting upwards and doing it while it jumps compared to not using the X-ray trick when it jumps? It's the only way I can think of that would be worth testing if you havn't, if it doesn't seem to be worth using during the whole battle. I've never heard of freezing the Torizo, so I wouldn't know. (I'm not really into murder/time&space beams) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/548/ Oh, and here's a cute little movie I made, I know that it sucks, but I felt like posting it anyways. :)

Botwoon = Japanese. Dragon Worm = European/american. But as some people think that japanese is 10x cooler, you might wanna use that.

This came out a little bit wrong, I wrote something else in this sentence, but I deleted it before submitting the message.

The worm boss in maridia is called the Dragon Worm, I've got alot of experience with Super Metroid, not using frame advance though, as you can see in my not so sexy movie. :P Of course I have time to scribble up that so called route of mine, it's more of a mental blocking. I'd very much like to have a little chat with Michael Flatley about the spring ball, since I do have a small idea which might be worth testing whether it allows me to get it without either grapple beam nor ice. The gauntlet is the part where you wrote it would go much faster with the screw attack in your route planning. The biggest flaw in my route is that you have to get the charge beam on the first (second) visit in Brinstar. Maybe you're right about the Golden Torizo, but since I have no idea of any damage numbers some people seem to have, I'm not gonna take care of that myself. Well, I've got nothing more to write right now, and I doubt there's anything in this post worth to reply to. :)

I'm actually beginning to believe that Ridley before Draygon should be tested, if there's a way of getting to the Golden Torizo's boss room without space jump. I just realized that your route is about the same as the one Smokey uses in his :56, except for when you're entering the gauntlet, which he does in the end, like Red Scarlet.

Hail Might Galvatron ops I mean Mighty JXQ! Even though you are in "pre-stage" and currently planning the route, its the initiative/move/act call it whatever you want that I have waited so long to hear
I didn't really get this part, I know it's not directed to me, it's more like I wanna know just because I don't understand. :) Förklaring!

If I'm not too lazy I'll share my route with you JXQ (I'll have to write a whole lot, since it's very different from yours), there are still a couple of things I need fix first, or if we could look into that together, you might get a couple of ideas. I actually thought I'd start practicing this game, since I thought I might wanna do a demo of it later, but it didn't go too well, but for fun purposes I'll share it with you. :) http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/547/ I havn't compared it to any other video, but I'd guess it's totally crap. :) You might have to take another look into the icebeam/spring ball concern before you decide when to pick the ice beam up. I might look into that as well, we'll see. Also, I was browsing around the Metroid2002 forums for ideas, and came across a video of someone shooting a charged plasma shot at Draygon and then started to rapidly switch X-ray on and off, Draygon died in one shot, did the X-ray scope have anything to do with this, and if so, will it work on Ridley?

I'm pretty sure it's possible to fly just as if you didn't sit on Yoshi.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/524/MMX2.smv 40 frames faster than my last attempt, but I'm sure that it's still improvable, so I guess I'm gonna start working on doing that right now.

Since I had never played this game before, I didn't really know how zipping worked, but now that I've done a little research I realize that there's an alot faster way of doing the zipping, which I think should be used, since it does save alot of time. Not allowing zipping because someone else didn't use it is stupid, why are you even doing each stage as one "segment" if you want to compare it to something that doesn't? Using glitches is not only faster but also alot cooler.

I do end up behind all of those dogs, I'm sure there's a more efficient way of doing it, but I couldn't figure one out.

I'm sure there's thousands of people named "Graveworm", so you'd have me change my name if I published a movie? Damn... Seeing that this movie didn't seem to take very long to do, and that the rerecord count is very low, it makes me want to see it. But something tells me more savestates/time wouldn't be needed, so I guess I'll just shut up and watch. :/

The bubbleman stage zip turned out to be so easy and save so much time that I personally believe not allowing it would be stupid.

Was it something like this you had in mind? http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/517/ (No, I have never in my life played this game before, and yes, that's why it sucks.)

Well, I don't think I'm gonna be involved in this, so you do whatever you want too.

Maybe something between Ureta's and the one that's published over here at bisqwit may be the best, since you're only replaying from the beginning of the stage if you screw up, you wont have to do the hardest parts first.

I'd think it'd be easier to come up with a certain boss order, and then to use the weapons you're supposed to have at that point, if you're only gonna play one stage at a time, so that you don't have 4 weapons at the second boss, or have all the other weapons when you start playing the stage.

I meant by using the chameleon sting. As he asked how much faster the storm eagle battle would be with the right weapon.

I'd so love to see the route JXQ's gonna use, I might ask him to share it, since I've done my own route, but it still has a couple of flaws, and maybe his will help me fix it. ;P If he doesn't do it, I might as well.
