1. I'm pretty sure that the game is Multi-6, meaning it should work no matter the region of ROM so long as the default language is to English. 2. That's a good thing. 3. The game's Story is supposed to be based on the the events in the anime. With the regular duels, he's using a Armed Samurai Ben Kei OTK variant, which involves powering up his monsters then attack twice with either Mataza the Zapper or Habayusa Knight. The Turbo Duels portion focuses on Exodia due to the Instant Win condition for having the 5 "Forbidden One" cards in his hand. It makes for ending those other duels in the last chapter instantly without really doing anything due to still having the same hand when the duel restarts. 4. I have no issue with it being in Vault. It made good on its goal for Fastest Time.
Thanks GoddessMaria15, this is very clear ^^! Well, Vault is better than rejection! I hope TAS of this game will be more entertaining next time!

Very cool run! I have a question, though: What happens if you use a Repel, say, one step before the "Repel doesn't work anymore" text appears? I saw some speedrunners use that method in other Pokemon games to save time, since it skips the message, but I don't know if that works here.
It doesn't work in this game! At that moment, the game says: "But the effects of a REPEL lingered from earlier."

Cyber Stein, Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon, Megamorph (double Atk if LP is lower then Opponent) and some damage defense monsters (fairy meteor crush or whatever) That's 9K in a single monster. Did it once myself. Never seen anyone flat out refuse to continue.
^^ Yes, that's the best combo! But I mean there's no strong Fusion cards among those starter packs!

What sets can be unlocked via gameplay or other means? Although I kinda doubt that using the 8-digit card codes from the real-life cards would fly in an "official" TAS.
At Chapter 4, on Mountain Pass, when I build my Turbo deck, there are new 8 sets: Soul of the Duelist, Flaming Eternity, Cybernetic Revolution, Shadow Infinity, Power of the Duelist, Strike of Neos, Tactical Evolution, and Phantom Darkness! Using card codes is slower, because I can manipulate to get the card I want! (and you just can use code to get cards from available packs!)

With that out of the way, what cards do you believe would be faster than exodia?Does this game have F I N A L cards, turtle cannon, cyber stein+metamorph?
There is "Raising Energy" Trap Card that increases 1500 ATK, use 2 of them combo with "Mataza the Zapper" or "Hayabusha Knight" can finish the duel in turn #3 as well! Destiny Board (F.I.N.A.L.) takes 5 turns 8 turns, you need to active it at turn #2, and wait till the end of turn #8 Cyber Stein is Forbidden, but even if it's not, there is no strong Fusion cards to summon!

Just to let you know the AVI dump was 52.2gb With Lagarith. Converted it using the encoder's way and it got down to 1.83gb Enjoy the temp encode btw (mentioning it 9hrs later)
OMG how heavy it is ^^! Thank you very much!

As a serious Yu-Gi-Oh! enthusiast, I'd like to know a few things.
  • What real-life sets does this game have cards up to?
  • Does the game's Forbidden and Limited List mirror a real one? And if not, what does it look like?
Questions aside, I'd like to go on-record as thinking that a game like this is far more deserving of a superplay than a speedrun. There are so many decks you can build in so many ways, that seeing the game obliterated by just two is kinda sad.
  • At startup, the game has 7 sets: Dark Beginning 1+2, Dark Revelation Volume 1+2, Synchro Awaken, Invasion of Worms, Justice Strikes Back!
  • Forbidden and Limited List are September, 2010
Yes there are plenty ways to build deck, but with just 7 sets and aim to win as fast as possible, I can only build 1! Because I can't attack at turn #1, I must finish at turn #2, therefore, having monsters that can strike twice and many Equip cards, I can do that! For Turbo Duel, I can't use the same strategy as Normal Duel, because only Speed Spell cards that can be active! Therefore I have to finish at turn #3. Use other decks than Exodia are possible, but they will be slow when doing Tag Turbo Duel! (with Exodia I can win at the start of the Draw Phase)

I haven't watched it yet (no encode, but I might actually watch it without one if I find the 3 hours of time before one comes out) but I am 90% sure that this run could be done much much quicklier, maybe even twice as fast. However that would require alot of work and tons of deck planning, because with so many possible decks that can be built there's got to be more efficient ones than the above (eventhough I must admit Exodia is probably the best option for a TAS) and you might find glitches or something if you search long enough.
This game story is very liner, you just can be faster only by finish the duel quickier (but if there are glitches, it can be much faster! Unfortunately I haven't found one!)

What is "highest rate"?
Rate about quality and gameplay, among Japan, USA and Europe version, the Europe version has the highest rate! (from MOD EDIT: REMOVED LINK) But I think USA and Europe version are not different! Japan version? I don't know Japanese :P

Thank you very much for that! :D

You never want to upload lossless unencoded footage to youtube ever. If you are in a hurry, use a program like WinFF to encode it. If you want to produce the nicest quality encode, tasvideos has an encoding guide to read through
^^ sorry! My internet connection is so bad that I stop uploading video for long time ago!

By the way, I watched the test run of the hard mode edition (post here, smv) and I highly encourage you to finish it, Hoandizi. The hard mode patch doesn't just increase enemy damage or wtv, it makes changes in almost every room of the game (eg/ added spikes). The TAS route comes out completely different, to the point where you feel like you're watching a completely different run, if not a different game at times. If you did finish that hard mode run, I think it would probably obsolete the 100% v2.3 despite likely being slower from the hard mode differences.
Thanks Vykan :D Yes I think that Hard-mode is more interesting to TAS :D I completed the test-run but have not been TASing it because I was busy with v2.3 100%. I hope v2.4 will also be divided into 2 types any% and 100% (to make sure that any% of v2.4 will not obsolete my v2.3 100% ^_^!)

Do you know in rough terms how much ingame time you saved through improvements and how much time was lost due to the changes made in the hack (considering that the ingame time is slightly longer than the last run)? Great run anyway, incredibly fast and entertaining with a ton of cool tricks and strategies.
It's really hard to tell exactly how many frames was improved and how many frames was lost, but I can tell that nearly 4 minutes in-game timer was lost on this version (mainly by boss fighting) :<

Hoandjzj, would you go into more detail about what has changed for v2.3? You know English better than I know Japanese (which is zero). Did a missile elsewhere get removed to account for this extra pack? Or can you get 101% now? (I'm only halfway through the video currently) Did door transitions speed up in this version? Any other noteworthy or interesting differences aside from what you already mentioned? I love how sequence broken this is, and how well this hack was designed. I often can't distinguish between "intended" sequence break and legitimate outside-the-box hack creator didnt expect that. Which is similar to Super Metroid itself. Edit: It is 101%. Imagine the conversations Diddy and Samus could have!
I edited the main differeces between v2.3 and v2.0! The highlight is that 1 extra Missile pack on the room next to Draygon's. The author also made more slopes that I can take adventage of Speed Booster. The new 1st Power Bomb also saved me alot of time! One disappointment is that I can't get the Super Missile pack in Speed Booster's room, so I have to run through lava to get it!

This is intended to obsolete #3232: Hoandjzj's SNES Metroid Super ZeroMission "100%" in 1:27:18.90, right? A savings of 07:40.40.
Unlike my first submission, this run not only killing all bosses but also collect 1 extra Missile pack! The two long-wait items (1 Missile pack near Grapphing Beam, 1 Super Missile pack on the heigh room next to my 1st Energy Tank) are changed to get easier. Therefore the in-game timer is slower than 10 second, but the realtime is faster than 7 minutes (although I aimed for in-game timer!), so v2.3 is hard to compare to v2.0

To submit the run, you need to upload the movie file to userfiles with the submission text in the description, and then PM the link to admins (Nach, Ilari, and adelikat) who can override the snes9x 1.43 block and assign the submission to you.
Thanks turska, I uploaded to my movie :D PM now!

You uploaded a test run of Super Metroid Zero Mission v2.4 "Hard Edition" in May 2012. That seems like proof enough that you were working on Super Metroid Zero Mission runs prior to snes9x obsoletion to me.
Thanks turska :) I was working on "all items" v2.3 first, but then I found 2.4 was more interesting to TAS, so I completed it first, then I came back with v2.3!

Hi, I've completed a TAS of version 2.3 of this hack, and I'm uploading it here, but the page rejected it and said: No acceptable movie file found in the ZIP I used Snes9X to record it and the zip content *.smv file, what was wrong :( I know it an outdated version of Snes9X, but is it acceptable?! Please help!
