I wonder if you couldn't improve the Iago fight. It bugs me that it takes 11 hits to beat him, but the number of hits between invincibility animations is 3,4,2,2. You could save some time if it's possible to get some permutation of 3,4,3. The sequence may be hard-coded, though as I haven't been able to get it to vary (or to find a distinct counter that indicates when the next invincibility animation will happen).
Other than that, I like it much more than your previous submission. If I can't finish off that stupid bird faster, you get a yes.

Dear Bisqwit,
I have some experience with Drupal programming from work, and I find PHP to be a stupid hack of a language compared to most other interpreted languages like Perl, Ruby, Python, Javascript, etc. I have a good deal of respect for your programming ability and would like to know your thoughts on PHP and which languages you like to play with.

I vote yes for an obvious improvement, but agree with Warp that the rerecord count be set to 0 since it doesn't currently contain any information anyway.
BTW laughing_gas, just read the tutorial on hexediting. It's a very useful skill to have and would have given you the same (bad) result with hours less work. If you're going to cheat, at least cheat efficiently.

The gameplay was solid but I have to agree that the game was really mediocre. It adds up to a 'meh' for me. I don't see the publication of this movie adding anything special to the site.

To be geekishly correct (and you know that if you weren't a nerd, you wouldn't be here), the grammatical mistakes are consistent with other similar macros here.

MM3 desynched fairly early on and my brain didn't last too much longer. That's definitely one of the most overstimulating things I've ever seen. You have another yes vote.

I'm glad this has been accepted. Now I can finally feel good about voting for it without unduly influencing the outcome.
I appreciate everyone's comments, even from people who voted no. It'd be ideal if everyone liked the movie as much as Twisted Eye, but barring that, I'm glad that most of the complaints were directed against the game itself rather than the gameplay or the use of robots.

I don't see a reason to adjust personal votes to other's votes. Maybe it just me.
Just look at the workbench. Anyone voting "No" on a popular submission is instantly attacked for their opinion.
I find this to be an overgeneralization. If you look at these 5 current submissions (Star Control 2, Pulseman, Metroid 2, SMW walkathon and NES Test) you'll find that all of them have 'no' votes and none of them have attacks against the people who voted 'no'. Even when there's a 'no' vote for the more popular games like Super Metroid or Mega Man *, cooler heads usually prevail.
Non-anonymous ratings would help make abuses public faster. This is a minor issue right now. Hopefully it won't become a more important issue in the future.
I'd also like to see how certain people rated their own movies, but that's just me.
As for peer pressure, that already happens when users are shown the average rating right below the rating select. When I vote I have to make a conscious effort to ignore others' ratings. (I'd like to see a layout change addressing this.) It's not the case that peer pressure shouldn't be a consideration, just that it's already a factor.

I just tested the tarball from the wiki and it worked fine. The md5sum should be e0b04e768628974caf226c44d5a7cc83. Maybe you had an overzealous proxy? Either way, I'm glad SVN worked.

I've fixed the tarball linked on the wiki. The change is to add -lX11 (dash ell ecks eleven) to the LDFLAGS of the Makefile if you don't want to redownload it. The line should look like this when you're done:

This is the proper way to do backwards text. There's no excuse to use that silly js reverser when you can easily do things like this with just a few HTML escapes.

You could do this easily enough by watching the CPU's PC for the address of the RNG after each instruction. Alternately, you could watch the RNG's seed in RAM and note when it changes.
Edit: I forgot to mention that doing this by modifying the emulator is a better (and probably easier) idea.

It's time to post one final wip. This one stops at the final minibosses. If there are any problems, now would be a very good time to post about them. The bosses will be done within a day or two. I used a robot for the autoscrollers, so that's why they're strange. It'll be explained in the submission text.
