One of those games where graphics was focused on over just about everything else. I'd watch it again once a full screen encode is made.

Done with first mission. Went much better than the last time. I wonder if ship placement is random. If so, that would be great to have them closer. Long range shots I don't know if they were work. How far they go is another question.

There currently exist no complete playthrough of this game. And for good reason. Aiming is a pain for real time players. The controls are very sensitive. I did a test of the first mission and one of the things that was hard to optimize were those long ranged shots. I couldnt tell if I was hitting them or not. If I try to chase them to get closer, I feel like I'm getting nowhere closer. The cutscenes can be skipped btw. Would anyone be interested in seeing this completed? Or have any advise?

Squirreljme maybe the best bet for a Java me emulator. I tested Squirreljme libretro on bizhawk and it did show "something". Inputs, a screen, and rewind and save states. But no game currently works and the developer has stated she wants to get retroarch to work in the future. Does it working under libretro mean it will be easy to port? It's save states are probably not gonna be very good so it may as well be waterboxed if anyone is gonna do anything serious with it

Rpcs3 finally is working on save states https://github.com/RPCS3/rpcs3/pull/10478 I didn't think it would ever happen. Of course, if this is ever implemented into bizhawk, it would require a very expensive computer.

With the Lua fork of dolphin, it's possible to make a rewind feature. But what I don't know, is how you would pair game pad controls to it. So like r2 for frame advance and l2 for rewind. Because save states are so big with dolphin, it would be recommended to make a save state every 10 frames or so. Also, how would you delete save states after a certain amount of time?

Already they're making tas tools: https://github.com/yuzu-emu/yuzu/pull/6485 you would need a pretty strong computer though to even run any game on yuzu. I like the library of games for switch better than 3ds.

Alpine racer 1 and 2 freeze emulator at difficulty selection screen. I somehow got mame to work under wine so I'm not sure if that same thing happens on native windows. But thats what I have so far.

Ignore all my reports up to this point. They were tested on wine linux and I didn't realize that was the issue.

More unintended tas work: https://github.com/hrydgard/ppsspp/pull/14493 You would have to write a tool in python with the api, but I don't know how to make that happen.. Whats next is integration with save states and rewind. Still excited to be able to use a controller paired with rewind for tasing psp games!

I've done more tests on games where I thought they sync stable, and need for speed carbon desynced on me by 3rd race in the first test using rewind. There were talks of rewind causing desyncs in more stable cores, and were fixed. So I updated and was able to get in a few races before another desync occurred. I use delta rewinder which is pretty new. I don't know if it's a core related or front-end is causing the desync. Will have to admit despite being a beta core, it's pretty hard to find desyncs with it. So I'm impressed

Do you mean adding dreamcast support for bizhawk? Or just playing dreamcast games? If you just want to play them, there's existing emulators for dreamcast. Which one is best, I don't know. As for adding dreamcast support, we already have a lot of cores we like to see added. Theres a whole page of them and dreamcast is already mentioned. So yes, we did "think" about it.

Another game I would like to see: harry potter and the deathly hollows Part 2. This game is really hard to speedrun in rta. Theres no cool down time for hp lost, so you having full hp doesn't make you safe. Although the cutscenes can't be skipped, I still would enjoy seeing the in-game cutscenes in ds style. Just wonder how much effort was put into them. Even just a deathless playthrough would be enough

Eh, compared to other racing game tases, this one isn't that interesting. Slow paced and annoying sound effects.

*bump* using libretro is straightforward. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. It's entirely expirermental and incomplete. Can someone delete this thread? It's just embarrassing.

I tried Alpine racer with the download link in the OP and it crashed. Alpine racer works with actual mame.

I've heard of this project before, and thought it was abandoned. Nice to see developments continue! Under capability, it only shows homebrew?

Watched some rta runs and they don't make much of a difference.. a tas wouldn't have much advantage

This one is a unique case for a tas. You really are pressed on time if you don't get X item before someone else does. Like defensive abilities or ones that cause a lot of damage that you would want. Speaking of weapon that does a lot of damage, its one that I ban in my current tas that you can find in my latest userfiles. I'm not sure what its called, but it fires out some projectile in the air and lands on some opponent by some luck. I hate it, and its not very entertaining to watch some lucky shots to end a match. Also in the movie in my userfiles is that I make heavy use my the default machine gun you get to embarrass the opponents who have much bigger arsenal. It goes through the first 3 stages, and I'm just taking a break for now. Does anyone want to see more? There exist a 100% speedrun of this game on youtube with a time of like sub 2h50m. It completes all objectives, but doesn't get all kills.

I'm using the saturn version because I'm using Linux. Psx tasing isn't available on Linux yet. Would you recommend I switch to the Japanese release?
