This has been discussed a gazillion times, there's no need to reset.

You can hit start immediately before Bowser's defeat (ie.one frame before you can no longer bring up the pause screen), close the pause screen and hit start+select at exactly the same time as soon as the screen starts to reappear. You'll exit the last castle and appear on the world map, with the Extra 6 and Bonus 6 unlocked (based on the assumption that you have 100 score on the levels).

Oh man there are too many OSTs I love. If I had to pick one it'd probably be Lufia 2 or Chrono Trigger. The Lufia 2 OST is just incredible in capturing the emotions that ran through me when I first played the game as a kid. Listening to 'For the Savior' still brings tears to my eyes.

Just left click? Or if you want to save the torrent file before opening, alt+click? No one's going to e-mail you the 120-star run avi, that's just ridiculous.

I understand and agree that a TAS of MK2 should contain entertainment/speed tradeoffs and that the movie should not aim for the absolute shortest completion time. Still, I feel that the extra 2-player fights were completely unnecessary and slow the movie down way too much. They cut the flow of the movie in a very nasty way and IMO don't contribute that much. Another thing I don't like (much for the same reasons as above) are the long parts where you play around without doing any damage to achieve a slightly glitched-out fatality. I can understand going slightly out of your way to achieve something cool, but what I don't understand is making the glitched fatalities the sole goal of the movie. They aren't even that glitched out, it's just some messed up graphics at messed up places (I did like the Jax fight though, that was cool). My favorite parts were the Jade, Kintaro and Shao-Khan fights where you absolutely own the computer with smooth and connected moves and without any unnecessary bouncing around. Those moments really made the movie worth watching. Still, I vote no for publishing and this obsoleting the shorter movie.

I can't watch it because of the quality. To me it's way below enjoyable. I'm with Tompa though, I always fast forward through door transitions and such and consequently sometimes miss something because of too much fast forwarding, so it would be nice to watch a video with the pauses cut out.

Desktop Tower Defense is a good game.. that aliens thing isn't. Here's why: -No chain buying, you have to reselect the tower each time -No delay for selling, juggling is already too good, you don't need to strengthen it -No sending multiple waves through at once -No notice of fast / immune / splitting / etc enemies or boss levels, or really anything
In my opinion, these are all very good points. The game mechanics are the most important part of any game for me, not the graphics or the sounds. I enjoy DTD's simplistic graphics and sounds more than Xenotactics, too, though.

Jesus fucking CHRIST that music is horrible. Anyone know what band it is? Or are they two different bands? The second song was a bit more tolerable. The video is great, though.

Yeah, it's the fliers that always get you in the end. Even the anti-air towers can't seem to get them all.

Yep, way better than Xenotactic. I beat normal after a few tries but haven't had a chance to try the hard one yet. Anyone here beat it?

I don't see what the screen not blinking has to do with anything. Are you suggesting he somehow edited the video file? I don't know much about editing videos but that sounds unlikely. It's perfectly normal for movies recorded at 20fps or so to miss stuff like that.

Wow, music by virt, that's absolutely awesome. This is the first time I've been more interested in the soundtrack of an upcoming game than the game itself.

Yep. It would be awesome if it wasn't. And good WIP karter. I really like nitsuja's slide-running technique.

The manipulation was so heavy it got pretty disturbing. Still, the run is impressive, and I don't see a reason to not publish it. Good work.

I watched all the mission TASes (and all of the non-assisted ones, too) and I have to say that this is the most awesome thing I've seen in a while. Some of the tactics used are simply hilarious, especially the ones with huge impossible rope (or bungee!) swings across the map to get the crate. Just incredible. Are there more runs somewhere? Like the one of the RR map you posted. I'd really like to see more.

Thanks to everyone who voted, and to adelikat for accepting and of course Bisqwit for publishing. The AVI looks very good.

Instead of doing the battle the intended way by stealing the bird’s eggs and launching them at her with the Robin Hood-suit, I do like the un-assisted run and use the magician suit (Zurreco originally found that this was faster).
To toot my own horn, that was me. I didn't know you could avoid switching to the Robin Hood dude though. Maybe that's what you mean by the discovery. Anyway, great movie of a great game. I was very entertained.

I changed it a bit. I'm still not happy about it though, I can't really think of a nice and short way to express that the list does not have the additional information and screenshots that the traditional movie listing has.

This talk about not turboing through text annoys me. If it wasn't for the input display, no one would ever even notice the turboing. It does not disturb the flow of the movie or make the movie visually worse in any way. I don't see why it should matter. The final time will only be a few frames lower if you turbo through the text so that shouldn't be an issue either. I'm guessing we just have different opinions on what's perfect, so I guess it all comes back down to the speed vs. entertainment thing. My opinion is that if the movie looks perfect, it is perfect. Just something I wanted to say.

Wow, great to see a completely new route for World 7. Is the wand grabbed later to manipulate the short fall or something? I wasn't watching very closely, and all I saw was that you grabbed the wand very late. All in all, awesome WIP. And Chamale, I'm very interested in seeing your movie.

Does anyone know if the published movie was also played on this difficulty or if it uses the hardest one? Either way, I'm very much against publishing runs that are not played on the hardest difficulty, because it creates a problem for future runs. Should they be played on the same difficulty level? Would it be acceptable to run it with a harder difficulty even if it was slower? If this is the case, how can you compare the times to see whether the new run is actually of the same quality?
