I have to say I agree with removing stars from Umihara Kawase and MMX/X2. I have never understood the purpose of the dualrun and I can't understand how ANYONE can find it entertaining to watch. As JXQ said, they are just 2 low quality movies running at the same time for me. (Don't even get me started on the quadrun where, thanks to lag frames, the connection between the inputs is so obscure that you might as well use different inputs and no one would know). As for the MTPO games, I would never ever star either one. They are simply boring and produce no entertainment for me whatsoever.

Yes, at www.zsnes.com And now I'm stuck at Hotel Horror as well. Gotta love mazy puzzle ghost houses.

I'm at Midnight Canyon now and I encountered a gamestopper: when I enter the door at the end of the level, it leads nowhere and Mario falls to his death when I enter it. Anyone know what's up? EDIT: Ah, I see now. I was using zsne 1.42 which apparently isn't compatible. Works fine on 1.5.

I'm at Rice Beach right now, and I'm loving it. The levels are nice and simple but still challenging. Anyway, in Rice Beach there is at one point a set of fire blocks. Behind the blocks is a pipe. When I enter the pipe, the screen just goes black. The game is still running and I can hear sound just fine but there is nothing on the screen. Is anyone else having this problem or is it just me? I can't find the secret exit because of this.

Sonic 3 and Knuckles: Finally someone agrees with me. The Sonic 3 runs have never impressed me in any way. I have never understood why they are so popular. Super Mario Bros 2: I disagree here, the SMB2 run has enough variation and good glitches to make it entertaining. Castlevania: Completely agreed. The CV4 run is, IMO, way better than the CV run. Bionic Commando/HnF: I disagree here too. I have never played the game but I still find the run very entertaining. Legend of Zelda: Most definitely disagree. The darknut fights are amazing. This is probably in my top-3 runs. Super Punch Out!: Hmm... Maybe when hell freezes over? No star for this one. Gimmick: The runs are pretty good, but I think the stars should be given to runs of more popular and well known games. The Lost Vikings: Did not really entertain me. Disagreed. Harmony of Dissonance: Hmm. I actually have no opinion on this matter. Boulder Dash: Haven't actually watched this one. To summarize: I agree that S3&K and Castlevania should lose their stars. Your other suggestions I don't agree with.

Still, how do you explain that levels 5 and 7 take (if I remember correctly) close to 30 seconds when you play even the later levels faster than that?

First of all I'm glad you're trying TASing out. Don't feel bad about what I'm going to say. Your chains are sssloooww. You build up one at a time. Have you seen the published run? When doing chains, you should have 3 chains forming on the screen at the same time. You almost never have more than one going on at a time, resulting in useless waiting. Also, in levels 5 and 7 you start chaining immediately even before there are almost any blocks on the screen. Why not roll it up completely before starting the chains, like you do in level 10? At least levels 5 and 7 take way too much time. A run of this quality should in my opinion never be published. Try harder! That being said, it's nice to see you trying the challenge mode. There could be some fierce competition in this category if someone else would take it up.

Which lake is that? I think the way from Crateria to Wrecked Ship is intended to be diagonally bomb-jumped, but I just did it with Space Jump.

Okay I decided to give this another shot but I'm immediately stuck. I just got PBs and I think I have to go to botwoon, but where the hell is he? I've been wandering around Maridia for hours. I haven't seen anyone get stuck at this point so there's probably something blatantly obvious and embarrassing I have missed. EDIT: Nevermind, I finally made the jump and got to Botwoon.

I didn't talk about disallowing anything.
You are saying that we should only have the slower movie published and that if someone were to submit a faster one using the glitch, it wouldn't be published. Thus you are effectively disallowing the use of that glitch. As I said before, this would set a bad precedent and most probably lead to annoying arguments about whether a certain glitch should be allowed or not. Even though the major goal of these movies is to be entertaining, most of them still aim for the absolute fastest completion without sacrificing time for entertainment (as with the ALttP and AoL runs). What can be done with the game is what intrests many people about these movies: they want to see to what lengths the game can be abused. When I first saw the glitch I was truly amazed, even though the rest of the run IS just repeating the first set of levels.

I think we should definitely have 2 runs. We have to have a shortest completion but it's also nice to see all the levels played. I don't see what's wrong with having two runs. Not allowing the use of a certain glitch is completely against the TASvideos policy and would set a bad precedent. There are videos that use a lot heavier glitches that also have the sole purpose of being fast (ie. they have no entertainment value).

Okay, this is really not my game, it's just too tedious, sorry Saturn. I really did try hard to like this game but couldn't.

Norfair without Varia sucked the fun out of this game for me. Once I got past it it seems that I have to go to Maridia without Gravity? If that's the case, I won't be playing this one any further. I'll have to check for alternate routes later on.

Did I miss anything or do I have to try getting to Kraid again?
Did I understand correctly that you haven't gone to Kraid yet? In that case, I think that's where you have to go. I'm at Kraid right now and have not yet gone into Norfair. EDIT: A somewhat-spoiler:Going to Kraid didn't do me much good, though. EDIT2: One thing I would like to know straight off the bat, Saturn, is that is it necessary to run around in the hot rooms without the Varia suit? Edit3: Nevermind, I think I answered my own question.

You can bubblegum through the pipe? The run sounds pretty sweet, I'll watch it later and edit my post.

Here's the old topic for a C-less run. Perhaps the discussion should be continued there?

Maybe the turbo isn't 30 Hz? Use frame advance.

As for "I wouldn't really care if someone obsoleted my 1-hour run by 1 frame right now", imagine that the other guy just takes your recording and simply redoes the last few seconds to get the 1 frame improvement, and submits that. Do you think it should be published?
I would really like to see my runs improved, even if they are improved only by a few seconds. However, if someone just took my recording and, say, ended the recording a bit earlier, I would be pissed. But taking someone else's work is really a whole different thing and is not allowed here.

I don't think it fits the spirit of this thread to start being disrespectful towards other people. This kind of taunting is completely out of place.
Do you completely lack a sense of humor? Do you have to take everything seriously? The topic is silly fun awards.

Hmm the new list is nice but to me "unchallenged" sounds like no one has even tried obsoleting them. I suggest rewording it to something like "longest time published".

Well all I can say is that I did get all that from the movie, and I still think it's a piece of crap. No matter what it depicts, it's still just plain boring.

So this is related to semi-important goals because...?
