This is what makes his posts so annoying. I constantly have to wonder whether he was being sarcastic or meaning something or just fooling around. I can see that Bag is a smart person and I know that he's very capable of intelligent conversation, which is why I don't understand why he has to screw around all the time. I just wanted to make known how I feel, nothing more.

I could really live without your pointless posts, Bag. They are getting more and more annoying by the day. Why do you insist on posting such uninformational posts if you don't have anything real to say? They also make you look like a complete moron and will cause everyone to ignore all of your posts, even if you do have something to say once in a while. As for the movie, it was quite boring at times and I would not want to see it published, voting no.

I think it's great that you're challenging this run because the one that's published now is really high quality. Making a 50 minute movie in hopes of improving it by less than a minute is really admirable. I really wish you the best and hope you have the patience to make it to the end.

The vote for the system is over already, now we just wait and see if this ever works out.

Jetpack is great, but is there any way to turn off the PC-speaker sounds? They really make the game unplayable.

Okay what's this about?
A TAS contest with three teams each making a TAS of the same game. After all runs are finished the results will be compared and people can vote for the best one. I don't know how 4 people are going to effectively work on a TAS together but it's an okay idea. I won't be competing, but I'll vote for NES to be the system.

Nice WIP, Tilus. You should set battle message speed and battle speed to the maximum. The messages are really slow in the Mist Dragon fight.

Yay for imprevements for old movies! Great job with the luck manipulation and the final battle, you really showed this game the wonders of frame advance. Yes to be published.

Whoa, I never knew about that! That's a really nice trick. I don't think I'll be making a new version any time soon but if I ever do, I'll be sure to use that if I get the chance.

I'm not sure what you mean, scubed. How can you skip the hammer bros. when the screen is scrolling? I've never heard of such a trick. About manipulating them, I wasn't successfull in manipulating any of the hammer bros. Somehow one of them would always get in my way.

I never thought about doing the worlds in another order. World 1 has the advantage of having stuff to kill the first Boom-Booms with (ice blocks, koopa shells) so I never have to kill a Boom-Boom with a fireflower or jumping on him. I'm not sure if other worlds have this option. World 4 or 5 might be a good choice because the Hammer Bros. stages are so short that it's not even beneficial to use music boxes there. So if you first did world 5 and 4, you might have the money to skip the world 1 Hammer Bros. when you get to them. EDIT: Wait, I do have to kill one Boom-Boom by jumping on him, it's the one in the fortress. About Desert Dares: since it's only advantageous to move in a certain pattern, there aren't really that many options. Some stages are additionally way too long to even consider, so I'm pretty confident that I have the best (or at least very close to the best) route. Thanks for all the comments!

As most of you know, the run is done and submitted. About the Hammer Bros.: their movement is manipulatable, but only to a certain extent. By ending the level slightly later, you can affet their movement, but in this case I couldn't stop the lone Hammer Bros. from getting in my way. Thanks for anyone commenting on my run in this thread, I really hope the movie lives up to your expectations!

There are some parts where I don't understand why you slowed down, or bumped into something.
Sometimes I bump into walls because if I jump any earlier, I wouldn't get to running speed. Running speed can be conserved by jumping, so sometimes I run just enough to get running speed and then jump, even if I have to bump into something. Trust me, all of these places have been tested and it's faster with getting running speed. EDIT: And thanks for the positive comments everyone! I wasn't sure how this would be received because there has been some debating about the quality of the hack. Great to see at least some people are liking it.

A newer version? Do you have such substantial improvements in mind that it would be rational to do a new version?

For what it's worth, I think it's silly to try to revive this thing now. I for one have no interest in seeing the results because we are only listing movies up to #314.

Yay, another update! World 6 done. Found some nice new through-the-wall shortcuts here. World 6 is looking better than ever!

Great wip, AngerFist! Flameman is the stage I was hoping to improve the most when I started my newest run with FCEU and you did pretty much everything I wanted to accomplish, only better. I'm anxiously waiting to see what you can do with the Blizzardman and Plantman stages.

Yay, an update! World 5 done. Pretty straightforward. One level was significantly faster thanks to Spoony Bard's trick of breaking blocks while ducking. The boss battle was pretty difficult because Roy kept shooting at me with his wand. I had to jump behind him so I could shoot him fast enough. It would have been slower to shoot from afar because you can only have two fireballs in the screen at one time. Now I'm just hoping I won't need a second music box in World 6. Or that there is a toad house in World 6 before I need another one. EDIT: Whoops, sorry Spoony Bard, I misremembered. It was indeed you who told me about the trick and not JXQ.

I'm really glad you're taking this on your plate. The game really does deserve an update to FCEU-time. I'll be happy to consult whenever you need me.

I definitely have to say FF4. The music is so good that I kept playing the final battle again and again on the console. I was like 10 at the time. It's also nice and hard compared to the later FF games. I also like how everyone you've met on your journey gives you their strength. Just talking about it wants me to check if I still have a save at the final save point! SMB3 also comes to mind. I was a kid and I was so nervous my hands were shaking the first time I played it.

Gah, I really don't feel like redoing the entire World 4 again for 16 frames, especially since I've already started on World 5. I'm sorry but I'm just not that patient a man. Thanks for watching my movie critically, though. I'm not too good at seeing my own mistakes.

World 4 redone. Thanks for pointing out my mistakes. Hopefully I'll get to World 5 this weekend.

Problem is, even "Get Hammer Bros. suit to kill bowser" is already a special qualifier. It takes more time to go through a mushroom house than it does to kill Bowser with fire power. You could aggregate up the time saved in killing Roy, Lemmy, Ludwig, Bowser and some Boom Booms with hammers instead of fire power and probably win out that way, but I don't think it would be good to stay in a hammers bros suit all the way through worlds 6 through 8 just to make up for the slowness of a mushroom house.
I think your a bit off here. I don't think "Get Hammer Bros. suit to kill bowser" is a requirement for the run, it's just what should be done to get the fastest time. If it is indeed slower to get the hammer bros suit, I'm sure Vatchern won't get it. I think Vatchern will just go for the fastest time, whatever it takes.

Are you sure it wouldn't be faster to kill the bosses with fireballs? I haven't tested this, I only have experience with Mario Adventure where it takes 5 jumps to kill the bosses so I might be wrong.
