Awesome work, Wodball! This is the first MMX timeattack that has been a true pleasure to watch and one of the best timeattacks on the site. All I can say is there is nothing I don't like about it.

i dont mean to sound to negative but the same could be said for any run. look at mega man x. all you do is run to the right and shoot. how boring is that.
Well I guess this is just a difference of opinions. Personally I find shooting and running to the right a lot more entertaining than doing the same combos on the same character over and over again.

This time remember to collect enough energy and missiles from enemies so that you can kill bosses more easily and your shinesparks won't stop abruptly :)

IMO it would make a boring run. It's quite long and since you would be using the same character the whole time, it would get boring. I honestly don't see the point of fightning game time attacks. Besides, on the hardest difficulty combos are pretty much useless because of combo breakers. The computer lets you land like 4 hits max and then breaks it. The combos aren't that powerful, either.

Are you suggesting that the rounds be played identically? Theoretically it's possible, but what kind of video would that make?
If one wants to make an "as fast as possible" video then yes, the rounds should be played identically, using the fastest way. It is questionable, as you suggest, whether this would make an entertaining video. I myself am not interested in any kind of fighting game videos because of exactly this.

Why are your times for round 1 and round 2 different? If you get Dhalsim round 1 to 87, shouldn't you get round 2 too? I mean doesn't this clearly point out that you have not done the other round as fast as you could have? I don't know much about the game so don't mind if this doesn't make any sense.

But those later Mega Man games have to be among the most difficult to time attack because perfecting the sliding is so annoying.
I have been working on a version 3 of my Mega Man 6 run and I have to say that the sliding is the most annoying aspect of the game. Every time I jump from a slide I have to try tens of times to get it right. Version 3 will definitely be the last version you will see from me, if I ever even get it finished.

I would definitely be interested in this. The game is indeed quite fast-paced and has a lot of neat stuff (like the thing that lets you walk in the roof upside down) from what I remember. Making a timeattack of this game would be quite challenging though, unless you're going to get all of the cards, since you need to figure out which ones take the longest to get.

You are quite perceptive. I have watched my own run countless times and never noticed this.

The maximum allowed size for Bisqwit's site seems to be 100k.

Silly me for noticing your explanation.

Also, you should know, your partial solution is absolutely incorrect and has a fatal flaw. How are you going to fill the four empty spaces in your inventory after you float the cube in your cursor? If you don't know, you cannot drop the Cube, or else everything inside of it will come tumbling out.
This can be done manually, using a third party program.

Are you planning on doing a straight run through? IMO a better idea would be to do all levels separately always starting with a small Mario, because if you play straight through, most levels will just be flown with the cape. Of course you could fool around and make it more interesting but I still don't think I would have the energy to watch all of the levels with no roof.

Would you be using the route seen in RedScarlet's 0:55 video or the old one (like in Smokey's 0:56 vid)? Or perhaps one of your own?

The idea of different judges for different genres sounds really good. As has been said, it's difficult to say anything about a movie of a game that one has never played or knows nothing about. I wonder if it would be difficult to find enough active and proficient people though.

I have been following the development of Bisqwit's site from the very beginning when he only had less than ten runs up. All of those runs were extremely well played and really looked like they were superhuman. I am sad to say that this is not the case anymore. The quality of the videos has come down greatly. People are simply making new runs and submitting them without even thinking the game through. The runs are not polished at all before submitting and some movies have such blunt and obvious mistakes that it just makes you want to cry. The amount of runs DOES NOT make up for their poor quality. So, I would like to say to everyone making or planning on making a run: The runs are not supposed to show just you playing through the game with mistakes corrected. They should be entertaining and awesome displays of impossible or near-impossible things. Here are some things that seem to have been forgotten when making a run: -Menu screens and the like should all be dealt with as fast as possible. Slowdown is exactly for this. You can scroll through menus with the greatest speed and accuracy possible and it requires only minimal effort but looks very cool and professional. Stupid mistakes like these that would've been easy to correct often give an amateurish image of the run. DO NOT settle for anything less than the fastest character switching or level selecting or whatever. Do it with 1% speed if you have to. -At some points it is easy to see that you are not doing something as fast as possible. These points should be eliminated. Let's take a Rockman game for example: When you shoot a boss, it starts flashing. For the rest of the fight, make sure that you shoot at it as soon as it stops flashing. If the flashing stops at some point, it means you could've done it faster. If you don't do this, it looks really bad. -Do not miss shots. You have the tools to undo missed shots. Why not use them? Missing shots gives a really lazy and sloppy image of the player. -In a sidescrolling game, don't go back. It also shows that something could've been done faster. Stopping is not a good idea either, not unless it's absolutely necessary. -Make precise jumps. Even if it doesn't improve your overall time, it looks very cool to always jump with the utmost precision. Just look at morimoto's Rockman and Rockman 2 vids. -Don't be afraid of rerecords. If you have something like 300 rerecords in a 20 minute game, it usually just tells that you have been sloppy. Use as many rerecords as you need to achieve the exact result you are looking for. Never settle for less. -Always remember to watch your run after you have completed a level. Correct your mistakes. DO NOT think that "oh well that only cost me .1 seconds, I won't bother with it". The goal here is PERFECTION, nothing less. If you will not put a 100% effort into the movie, it will probably look bad. And that's exactly the opposite of what we're trying to achieve here. These are just some additions I feel need to be said and I really hope that you put more thought into making your run after reading this. Watch Genisto's and Morimoto's runs. See their utter perfection in everything. mfried's SMB run and Bisqwit's Rockman run are fine examples, too. Learn from them and make your run. After finishing it, watch it 10 times and correct all your mistakes. This is all I ask.

midi2.mid is The Moon from Duck Tales but the others are unknown to me. Good job, though.

I have used the netplay of ZSNES quite a lot and I think it's excellent. Here's how it works for us: one person goes to the NETPLAY menu and clicks INTERNET, then START AS SERVER. Use the default port and don't uncheck the UDP connection checkbox. Then the other player goes to NETPLAY -> INTERNET and enters the other player's IP address into the server field. Then just click CONNET TO SERVER and it should work. You can also try unchecking the UDP connection checkbox, but be sure that both of you do it. Also you should make sure that you are using the same version of the emulator. If you have an internal and an external IP address, try both of them. For example, ZSNES shows me my internal IP in the NETPLAY window but it doesn't work for me, I have to use the external one. Also be sure to disable any firewalls for the default port which is 7845. This is everything I can think of right now.

I'm still thinking about xebra's Stone of Jordan question, and here's what I've gotten so far: 40 (inventory) + 48 (stash) + 12 (cube which is in the cursor) + 2 (fingers). That would make it 102 per character, however according to xebra you can store 840 SoJs on one account, which would make it 105 per char. For the life of me I cannot think of 3 more slots. I have also talked this over with my friends but we are all equally baffled. I'm going away for a few days now and I'll keep thinking about it. If I still can't solve it you're going to have to reveal the answer. Unless you want to be responsible for me being sent to a mental hospital, that is. EDIT: Oh and you can store 2 more if you put them on and get killed, right? Then they would be on your corpse. Thanks to blip for this one :)

Is there really that much to master? Isn't this a simple and straightforward game with annoingly slow walk speed and boring bosses and enemies? It's been a while since I've played it but I can hardly see this being interesting.
