Oh come on Warp, this is just stupid and you know it, stop acting like a child. Let me correct this persistent delusion a lot of the people here seem to have. THIS SITE IS NOT A DEMOCRACY. The voting system is there to let the judges know what people think. That's all. If it influences their decisions, fine. If it doesn't, also fine. You say the voting system is a joke because you seem to assume that if the voting results are positive, publishing the movie is guaranteed. If this really was the case, I'd understand you being hurt that your voice was not heard. But since this is NOT the case (and you really, REALLY should know it by now), suck it up.

What I don't like about this is how this movie only got a different treatment just because it was made by you.
It's already been established that adelikat didn't publish this because it was his own run, but because it was the first DS TAS. I.e. even if it had been made by someone else, it would have still been published (as I said just a few posts ago). There's no need to make this debate any longer by just repeating the same things over and over. EDIT: Bah, beaten by adelikat.

The only thing I'm hoping for is a less elitist attitude from the judges/admins, which is fairer towards "regular" people who contribute and who have no special privileges.
I don't really see this problem, I'm sure adelikat would have published this even if it hadn't been his own movie.

He probably should have published his own DOS TAS, to further promote it as a viable option. You may have noticed that there hasn't been another attempt to submit a DOS TAS since, despite the tools being available.
Are the tools really finished? I was under the impression DOS TASes aren't officially accepted and that Bisqwit's movie was just a demo (even if it did finish the game).

You can't deny that a "site coordinator" accepting and publishing his own submission completely regardless of public opinion (on a server he doesn't even own) sounds a bit elitist.
If adelikat was doing it just to get his name plastered on the front page (again), then yes, I'd agree. But as I know adelikat is not that kind of person and is doing this only for the good of the site, I don't mind.

Loved every second of it, this game was just MADE for TASing. Ten points to you, sir.

I posted a link to this movie: http://tasvideos.org/movies.cgi?id=113, which, for those who remember, Phil himself made and accepted and published, even though it is by far the worst and most boring movie on the site and it didn't have any positive feedback. (Even I have better movies on my shitty YouTube channel.)
Remember this? :)

I'm speechless. Really. Has tasvideos.org become your personal dictatorship where you just publish your own runs without any regard to anyones opinion? Am I the only one who thinks that you are seriously abusing your power as a judge?
In case you haven't noticed, adelikat has become more than a judge lately. In the "people needed" topic Bisqwit said he needed among other people, a site coordinator.
Bisqwit wrote:
Site coordinator A site coordinator (policy administrator) decides the direction that TASVideos is going towards. Example tasks: ― Deciding which emulators are acceptable platforms ― Deciding how files are named
adelikat has already taken up some of the site's resposibilities, and I imagine he is now the "site coordinator" as well. For what it's worth, I personally think he's a good man for the job and I support his decision about this run.

Yeah I find it pretty weird this was published so quickly, too. What I'd like to know is who exactly published it? The submission hasn't been edited and the movie page was apparently created by adelikat? And I remember adelikat saying earlier that it's not his place to reject or accept his own run.

It's amazing how badly people are twisting this point in order to get it published. While this particular author is unlikely to submit a run with clearly visible mistakes that a random viewer would notice. it still contains clear strategic mistakes which lead to "ouch, why did he do that, that's horrible"
Please read the post before posting, Mitjitsu. Bisqwit specifically said he has no idea what kind of flaws are in this movie and that he is only saying what he said on a theoretical basis. I haven't watched this movie either and I'm only taking a stance on what Warp said on page 1 about some flagpole trick (or was it something else? well something not clearly visible anyway).

Don't know what to tell you man. I don't really see why getting a DS run published on the site would really hold any special value to me. But, as Bisqwit (more or less) said, I guess there isn't anything that I can say to make you believe it.

If from two movies the only relevant difference is 10 seconds, the faster one is definitely the better because it conforms better to the spirit of TASing.
Of course. If there was a run 10 seconds shorter, that's the one that should be published. But there isn't, and I don't think that should prevent this movie from being published.

Entertainment is the goal, but not any kind of entertainment. [...] A movie can be entertaining even if it uses rom-hacking, cheats, image manipulation and even fallacious footage created by something else than the emulator.
I disagree on both counts.

Yeah, because it's entertaining to watch. Bottom line: We strive to create entertaining movies. This is usually achieved by completing games as fast as possible. This movie is (at least to me) fast and entertaining. Even if it was 10 seconds faster, it wouldn't increase the entertainment value, hence it's irrelevant.

I don't think you can call this run sloppy by any means. The possible improvements in this run are not visible to the untrained eye, unlike in many newbie submissions where anyone can see that the run is suboptimal.

I don't get what you're trying to say with that link to the "be quick" section. You don't think adelikat is quick in this movie? The guidelines don't say anything about being perfect, IIRC. And yeah, being quick is important, but as I said in my previous post, entertainment is the number one goal, right?

All I can say is thanks for your contributions to the site, they haven't gone unnoticed on my part at least, and I really appreciate people who are ready to dedicate so much of their free time towards the community with no real profits (also referring to you, DeHackEd, adelikat and of course Bisqwit and probably others I can't think of right now). EDIT: To Warp: Why would he have interest in putting a lot of effort towards a community he doesn't feel deserves it?

I find this situation stupid: 1) A movie is submitted. 2) Everyone finds it cool and publishable. 3) Someone points out a few seconds of improvements. 4) The movie, which everybody was ready to accept just a few minutes ago, is now somehow unpublishable, even though the movie itself hasn't changed and still looks just as cool and publishable. Hasn't the number one goal of the movies on the site always been to be entertaining? How has this movie now become any less entertaining than it was before the improvements were pointed out? It hasn't. My point: if you were all for publishing this before the improvements were pointed out, I see no reason to change your stance. And this being the first DS TAS shouldn't have anything to do with anything.

51. Didn't get a single one from 7, 8 or Bass and missed 3 from MM5.

Yeah, great stuff. Just two questions: Why did you take off the speed booster (and the ice beam) when you went into the lava at one point to disarm a guardian? And are you sure you're going to need all those missiles you collected?

Yeah, this is going pretty fast, I'm psyched that you're also looking into MM3. I, too, will watch this in one go when it's finished.

He did.
the maximum number of points you can get is 99.
I didn't say he didn't get the maximum score, I said it should have been the goal of this movie. I mean that I think he should have ended input after reaching the maximum instead of going on to reach an arbitrary number of driving hours.
