Do you really think scummvm belongs on that list? I think there was talk of doing something like that, but it had more to do with creating scriptable actions for testing new features (or something similar). Also, how could you ever re-record? ScummVM isn't an emulator, so there's no way to ensure that timing would be the same on all computers. I'm not trying to be negative, just posting my two cents ;) Also, even though NO ONE would ever want to see this done, you could add Frotz to that list :P

I hope an explanation of what's actually happening is coming soon .... Either way, by far the most surprising movie I've seen in a long time :)

Wouldn't this require a complete re-implementation (of any emulator) in some weird XML-based way? I looked into this quickly, but it really looks like porting anything would be A LOT of work.

gia, i updated your permissions on SF so you should be able to maintain packages yourself. I created a new release (v0-12-1), but since this encapsulates a lot of changes you've made, could you provide the changelog text?

That's gotta be the first time that statement has ever been made on this site. Maybe it'll convince more users to try Linux......(or not :P) (Mod Edit: This post no longer applies, the window version is NGP compatible.)

I used to feel the same way as you did mz. I really did. I stopped coming here as actively as I used to because I was tired of the elitist attitude that had arisen, and I even blamed Bisqwit personally (though I didn't feel it was necessary, or constructive to come out and say this), but there's something fundamentally wrong here. Bisqwit is a convenient martyr, but lashing out like this isn't constructive. This site has grown to an unmaintainable point (by just one man), and I think he knows that. Whether Bisqwit was stepping down or not, there needs to be more people actively responsible for maintaining and moderating this community, as well as fostering new members. Since everyone here volunteers their time whenever they can (judges, editors, encoders, TASers ... everyone), it's difficult to address all the needs of a growing community and meet their ever increasing expectations consistently. It's not fair to lay all the blame on Bisqwit, mz's entitled to his opinion, but this should be used as an opportunity to address (legitimate) deficiencies. I'm sure I duplicated a few of Kirkq's points here, but I felt the need to get my two cents out there ;)

Not really sure what happened here, but apparently the editor has been added to the softopedia database :P (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Other-VIDEO-Tools/TAS-Movie-Editor.shtml). Though I haven't really done any work on this since May of '07 ... maybe one day :P

These kinds of lists (top 100) tend to spawn flame wars since they're based on opinions built around personal experience. You need to basically look at it as [the reviewer's idea of what] The Top 100 games of all time is. I grew up playing text adventures, point and click adventures and consoles like Atari, NES, ColecoVision, SNES .. etc, so if I were to compile a list, a lot of titles from those genres/systems would rank higher. If someone never played any games for a Nintendo console, would they be wrong to not include any Megaman, Final Fantasy or Zelda games (I'd say yes, but that's my opinion :P)

If you've already got an alpha build installed, couldn't you just try loading the current FCEUX to see if it'll work? .... or was your statement that you have Windows 7 and the current FCEUX doesn't work?

If anybody wants to take this project over, i'll add them to the sourceforge project as well. Btw, one thing that would be nice is if you quickly re-wrote the form resize code (frmMain::resizeControls) ... actually, if you removed the form resize code and just used the actual control anchor positions like I should have done in the first place :P Another side project would be to incorporate some of JXQs tools into this as well (the input animator was pretty freakin sweet). Not sure if the stuff mz is working on (PSX,FBA) is finalized yet, but those formats should be easy to add using the given framework. I'll check in from time to time and I'm here to help if anyone needs it, but other than that, it's in the community's capable hands :)

Symbolic X: that's a new one to me. Have you loaded a movie and are trying to select a frame or are you clicking on a frame before you load anything. Just so everyone knows, this application is no longer being actively developed. I kept meaning to get back to it, but I've got other priorities now. The source is available if anyone wants to continue this, and I'd be more than happy to offer assistance, but I'm not working on this project anymore. If anyone found this useful in the last couple of years, I'm glad to have been of service :)

It won't work directly, but the editor allows you to save/load snippits (can't remember what I called them .. haven't looked at it in ages). The external files you load are just text files, and they're also pipe-delimitted per controller. You could just check how those are done, format the fm2 file to match the "snippit" file, load the snippit file to the copy buffer, load an fcm and remove all the input, then paste the copy-buffer contents to the empty fcm and save. Whew. That's a mouthful, but it should work. Just remember that BOTH the TAS Editor and FCEUX don't support control codes (Reset, Restart ... etc), so if you had any of those in the file, it will be stripped ... which sucks :( Good luck

At this point we are discussing bugs in a interum release. I think for the sake of avoiding confusion, this needs to be taken elsewhere (like the sf bugs list), and leave this thread for 2.0.1 bug reports (and compliments :P)
You guys are awesome :)
